Thanks, my one needs an oil change, looking a little dark & with lockdown & gararges being closed one will need to do this ones self.

Hello, would you be able to tell me what size socket you had to use?
@markrocketmangrimstead Жыл бұрын
Hi the sump nut is a 19mm socket,and the oil filter cap is a 36mm. I hope that helps

Hi, i have a vw fox. Had a full service December 2020 and instead of having another, I've just bought my own oil etc. I think filling it up is no issue, but i dont think i can do the rest of it. Can i just top oil up or is that a no no?
@markrocketmangrimstead2 жыл бұрын
It depends on how many miles the car has covered since the last service,if its done more than 20 thousand change the oil and filter. If its only covered say 12 to 15 thousand you can top ot up. Dont over fill it with oil though check the minimum and maximum on the dipstick to see if it needs topping up. Also a good tip is if the oil on the dipstick is golden brown thats good if black change the oil and filter. I hope this helps

Also always buy either fully synthetic oil or semi synthetic

@@markrocketmangrimstead thanks. I've only done 6k since last year. The oil was just above the left (lower) mark on the dipstick. Will recheck the colour before topping it up. I got fully synth. Thanks

@@emilyyyjw only 6k it will be fine ,it wont need changing👍just top up depending on the level try 200ml at a time run and let it settle then check level again
