Volkswagen Rabbit Truck Dashboard Removal

Do you need to remove, or loosen, the dash to remove the speedometer cluster? I need to have mine fixed but don’t want to disassemble the dash if not necessary.

How do you remove the vents on the sides below the speaker grill?

Last time I did this it was just friction-fit into the dash. Your mileage will probably vary though
