just a quick question, on the line D, right leg is in front most of the time so your R shoulder is kinda turned from the middle of the court , any reason for that when you drop? Passes seem to go exactly where you're opened, wouldn't it be possible to be more left foot fww and opened towards the court rather than the side? Just want to know if that's the best way or it's just time constriction
@ErikShojivolleyball2 жыл бұрын
I have been working to get my foot a little more neutral in this situation because I do tend to move a lot and have my right foot forward. In general try to be neutral or maybe left drop forward a little 🙂

The purpose is to feel more athletic and loaded with your legs. Train it by taking a small little hop before serves and spikes. It should be quick and balanced right as the opponent hits it.

I have a question: whenever you pass, do you look at you platform as the ball hits it? I’ve gotten conflicting advice on this and I am wondering what difference it makes.
@mikochi242 жыл бұрын
I've been playing for a few years and I think you should watch the ball, not the platform. If you've been passing for a long time, you can feel your platform and the angel, and to make your platform perfect,you just need to make sure the ball's position by watching the ball.(Just my personal opinion hhh)
@ErikShojivolleyball2 жыл бұрын
I try to watch it to my platform as long as possible but I don’t think I watch it all the way until it hits my platform. I’m not exactly sure not something I always think about.

I played my first two matches with the adult team in second divison last sunday and it was kinda annoying. I play libero and I have played volleyball for almost two years now so I make some mistakes, but I wasnt having a standout bad game, but they ended up making it so that the middles dont switch with me in the backrow. One of the middles is better at defense than me so that is a little less frustrating, but the second middle is not even better than me. He is tall and clumsy in the back row. At one point i was kinda cheering for the opponent team every time one of the middles on my team made a mistake or couldnt get the ball. I wont become better if they dont give me a chance. Anyway i kinda blame some of the mistakes i made on the practices we have. We only play practice matches against ourselves in every single practice. And it is fine practice, but I think we could get better if we had some F#CKING DRILLS! Im sorry about the language Erik i really am, but sometimes im kinda annoyed.

How on earth do people dive without being scared of belly flopping and deeply hurting themselves?
@AsianSensationist2 жыл бұрын
I get you When I first started learning to dive, I was littered with bruises on my knee and arm. But once you learn and get used to it, it's almost 2nd nature to just dive after a ball and you'll rarely hurt yourself.
@HopeEsleim11012 жыл бұрын
I'm no pro but I think staying very low to the ground right before you fall helps immensely
@leah88942 жыл бұрын
It kinda comes naturally as you get better. Often times when going for a ball you’re kinda forced to get on the ground, and with time you lose that fear of getting yourself on the ground. Learning good diving and rolling habits will help to prevent injury.

Erik you are a wonderful libero, but how could you post this meaningless video. Where is your block set up? Is the set on or off the net? What direction is the hitters approach, and jump height, and armswing tendencies? This drill vdeo is nothing more than pepper. Anyone can dig a ball hit directly at them. The real skill is reading which can only be learned in game-like drills.
@fangman212 жыл бұрын
Please reconsider what you're saying, so disrespectful to his craft. First of all it's a drill being done by one of the best players in the world on one of the best teams in the world. It's not meaningless or they wouldn't be doing it for that long. Second, have you actually played volleyball? Reading the hit is one skill, actually digging the ball and getting it up and to the setter is another skill. He just happens to be working on the latter.
@ErikShojivolleyball2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, thank for you watching and for the kind words. Regarding your comment calling this a meaningless drill and video…I respectfully disagree with you 100%. You are right there are aspects of defense that involve reading the hitting. This is clear. But the purpose of this drill is to simply work on defensive technique, fundamentals, and digging the ball. Not anyone can dig a ball especially if it’s coming 70-90 mph. Every professional club and national team I know does drills like this to train defensive technique fundamentals.
