what kind of mods did you have on your V50 during the ECU tuning? I also have a V50 and i am just curious as to wether i should do the same to mine.
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken3 жыл бұрын
A Stage 1 tune with all stock parts still makes a significant improvement in performance. The T5 is detuned from the factory to run lowering grade gasoline, which is why Volvo offered the Polestar tune as a way to show off what the car is capable of on 91+ octane. I went straight to Stage 3 on this V50 with an upgraded intake, piping, intercooler, throttle body, intake manifold, downpipe, and exhaust.

Sick video, got me excited for my tune that I’m planning to order. I got an 04 s60 t5 geartronic and was wondering if the tune makes any notable changes in first and second gear as they are torque limited. Thanks!
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken3 ай бұрын
You'll still notice a huge improvement in 1st and 2nd gear. But then you'll hit 3rd and it'll push you back in your seat even more. Some tuners will remove the torque limiter in 1st and 2nd if you want.

@MyNameIdeasWereTaken7 жыл бұрын
The amount of increased horsepower and torque will be entirely dependent upon what performance modifications (if any) you have installed on the car and what octane gas you run. I suggest contacting the tuner to get details on exactly what kind of improvement you can expect. Shark, Elevate, and Hilton are all great options for tuning your 2010 S40.

Hey michael, i got the tuner for my 05 s40 T5, but it wont sync telling me my serial# isnt registered with them. I tried contacting them but ive had no response still to any of my emails. What did you do in this situation since i have no tuner files on my device.
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken5 жыл бұрын
Tunes are VIN specific, so you will need to get a tune written for your car. Do you have an Elevate handheld? Don is a one man show over at Elevate, so he can be a bit slow to respond sometimes. Try sending him a message on C30Crew if he doesn't respond to his e-mail promptly.

I have a 2004.5 t5. How much of a difference did you see with this tune, I recently purchased this from elevate and it’s currently on its way
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken4 жыл бұрын
A tune on these cars makes a HUGE difference. If you don't notice a big difference, then contact your tuner because something isn't written right. A stage 1 tune is the best bang for your buck for the increase in horsepower and torque, and going with more advanced stages of tuning only further increases the performance benefits. But even a stage 1 tune with all stock parts will transform how the car performs.

@MyNameIdeasWereTaken4 жыл бұрын
@@raymondtuckerjr1886 Not at all. Remember that Volvo even offered a factory tune through the form of Polestar. So even stock, these cars are already built for a noticeable increase in performance when optimized for higher grade octane.

Will this increase HP and Torque on a stock ‘09 C30 T5 R-Design??
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken Жыл бұрын
Yes, a Stage 1 tune will get you a bit more power than the Polestar tune provides. Usually about 40-50whp more and ~40ftlbs of torque increase. I'd suggest going with Hilton for a tune.

hey got 2.4i and I want use tuner like u do it on this video u think Will work and get Lil power
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken8 жыл бұрын
The 2.4i is already maxed out for power. Any software tune will get you about +10hp at most, which does not justify the price of the tune. The companies that offer tunes for the 2.4 are only getting the power up to what the 2.4i put out stock. Unfortunately, if you want power, the first upgrade is to sell your car and buy a T5.
@droid34078 жыл бұрын
+MyNameIdeasWereTaken yeah u may right but on the pages of elevate say u + 40 power
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken8 жыл бұрын
You may want to e-mail Don @ Elevate about that. They used to only list the 2.4 and adding 40hp got to the same mark as the 2.4i. If they do now have a tune for the 2.4i, that will be great!
@droid34078 жыл бұрын
+MyNameIdeasWereTaken so you think is worth to buy it if is true about the 40 more power?
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken8 жыл бұрын
If it does give 40hp, it should make a noticeable difference. I would suggest contacting Shark Tuning as well, they have some great tunes at about the same price. Shark is currently writing a custom tune for my C30, which should give a bit more power than my Elevate/Autotech tune.

I have a 2002 Volvo S40 1.9T, do you think I could tune it do make the exhaust crackle?
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken6 жыл бұрын
Tuning isn't going to change the sound of your exhaust. If you want more crackle and pops, remove the cat. What tuning can do is set your car to run a little more rich, which will cause more after firing in your exhaust. But that's not optimal for performance...
@dathater69136 жыл бұрын
MyNameIdeasWereTaken yeah that’s what I meant by that. Change the richness of the fuel going into the engine.

I also got a s40, i hate that i don't have usb/ipodcable/bluetooth. I like to have a new radio, do you know how?
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken10 жыл бұрын
No options for our cars since we have fiber optic radios that control more than just the radio itself. Blue Power is working on a touch screen unit which will be plug and play, but from reviews of their other products, it won't be that great and will cost a fortune. You could retrofit the GROM unit, but it'll require some work. forums.swedespeed.com/showthread.php?171534 A few others have ditched their factory radios all together and use aftermarket setups (often putting the head unit in the glove box or relocating the factory screen. You need to keep your factory stuff to still control the air, phone, etc.

I have the s40 diesel sport and had the same issue, Dont know where you are but I'm in the uk and I purchased a phone kit called iQ (it's similar to the parrot kits) for £80 from a retailer called Halfords, I also had to purchase the lead to connect to the back of the head unit which was £15 (make sure your s40 doesn't have the amp in as you'll need this lead to connect to the amp in your boot) easy to install just look on here on how to take radio out etc that's how I managed it, fitted the phone kit box behind the dash (but not near the airbag) fiited the little screen to the left that tells you what track from my phone is on or who's calling or displays my phone book etc, fitted the function remote below the key and all looks neat and tidy, oh and fitted mic above the rear view mirror, sounds a lot but really it isn't or if you've got a decent auto parts retailer they'll fit it at a cost or recommend someone that does if you don't fancy tackling it.

Shark, Hilton, and Elevate are all great companies when it comes to tuning Volvos. All of them tune remotely based on the specs of your cars and/or data logging. Elevate and Shark can provide you with a handheld unit (like in this video) for loading your tune file. Hilton requires the use of Vida/Dice. I suggest contacting each of these companies for a quote and to see what tuning options they can provide for you.

Nope, I'm in GA. I also don't tune these cars myself. In this video, I was loading an Elevate tune. But now all my cars are tuned by Shark. Tuning is a bit complicated on these cars and I wouldn't advise you go to any local shops that you can find, as most don't fully understand our ECUs. If you want a reliable tune, Shark, Elevate, and Hilton are the way to go.

Yes, both Elevate and Shark make it a very easy process to load their tune files onto your car. Aside from this installation process, you'll email the tuner with a list of mods on your car, then just wait for your tune file to be uploaded to their servers, where you can download it to your handheld device.

@MyNameIdeasWereTaken5 жыл бұрын

'07 non-turbo S40 here with headlight and general quality upgrades. Was your S40 a T5? Where did you dig up "~310 hp"? Considering an Elevate tune. Thanks.
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken8 жыл бұрын
+Tyler James Newton Both my S40s were T5s. That was 310hp at the crank, was just over 250 at the wheels. The Elevate tune is for the 2.4, not the 2.4i. If you have a 2.4i, it's pretty much maxed out for power from the factory. You can do suspension upgrades to make it handle better, but if you want power, sell it and buy a T5.
@calebluther415175 жыл бұрын
Could I buy this from you man?
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken5 жыл бұрын
I sold my Elevate handheld for Shark a long time ago. You can often find used handhelds for $100-150. Then you'll need to pay the tuner to register your VIN and write a tune, which is usually around $450 for the first tune file and then $150 for every updated tune after that.
