Hi, awesome car!! Didn't you have problems with the car going into limp mode after removing the cat? I have a t5 as well and want to decat it.
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken8 жыл бұрын
+Tim van Niekerk Never went into limp mode. You have a few options... You can install an O2 spacer which should prevent any CELs. But the major tuners (Elevate, Shark, Etc.) have tunes which ignore the 2nd O2 sensor's reading. So there will be no problems. Both my S40 and C30 are catless and neither of them have given me any problems.

From the downpipe, the exhaust routes over the rear axle and feeds into the muffler, which then splits to a dual out. For this muffler delete, it was just cutting out the muffler and fitting a Y pipe to feed to the two tips. The 2.4 will have a much deeper and raspier tone. The turbo greatly muffles the sound of the 5 cylinder, but the NA will sound like a beast. There are a few good videos on youtube of straight pipe and muffler deletes on the 2.4i Volvos.

MyNameIdeasWereTaken how was the ride quality? i plan to lower mine but I'm unsure if it'll be comfortable
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken7 жыл бұрын
That's a hard question to answer. The roads are great in my area and I am used to the stiff suspensions on track cars. It's also going to be entirely dependent upon what shocks/struts you pair the springs with, how your dampening is set, and what brand/size tires you run. Overall, it was firmer than stock and took a corner quite nicely, and I found it to be very smooth and not harsh when going over bumps. Others have run similar setups and said it was a back breaker. Unfortunately, it's impossible to say how the ride will feel to you, everyone has a different opinion.

You can cut the muffler off of any car to make it louder. On an NA, you may experience a slight loss of low end torque and potentially worse fuel economy. Anyone with a hack saw an the ability to weld pipe can build a muffler delete. Check for local exhaust shops.
@danemx57 жыл бұрын
Do you loose power at all by doing this?
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken7 жыл бұрын
Not on a T5. You'll gain a little bit of power by removing the restrictive stock muffler. However, a high flow muffler can give even better results by maintaining a slight back pressure for the turbo.

Does the car shift for you at redline in manual mode or will it bounce off the limiter?
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken7 жыл бұрын
There is an inconsistency with this... In Drive, if you push the pedal past the kick down, it will accelerate and only shift once it hits redline. However, I ONLY drove this car in geartronic manual mode. During autocross events, I could keep this car at 7000rpm (redline is 6500rpm) without any problems of the car trying to shift for me. A few other people with different model years have experienced the same. But then many people have said when they're in manual mode, the car would automatically shift once it hit the redline point. Something to note is that the automatic has a torque limiter. My gear changes in my manual from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd are much faster than what you see in this video with the auto. The manual cars are also significantly faster off the line since there is no torque limiter and better gear ratios with 6 gears instead of 5. Shark Performance can remove the torque limiter from autos if you desire.
