Having witnessed her performances in this season, the way she performed better and better from the audition till the finals, I was surprised to learn that she's the only one not getting a contact from any label from that season! At this point of Idol Simon was at a choke hold because the black performers of every season were the best. Season 1 was Tamyra Gray , 2 was Reuben and 3 was Fantasia He knew a decision had to be made to get the record company a winning deal and even though Vonzell was clearly the best he had to be strategic and made sure the voters would keep from picking her to win

I LOVED Vonzell. I was rooting for a Carrie, Vonzell showdown in the finale. Unfortunately season 4 followed season 3 which featured some amazing black female singers so production did not promote Vonzell like they should have 😢
