I'm grateful for everyone who can simply enjoy a way out fantasy adventure. Unfortunately a few MENSA applicants are unhappy here but what an amazing display of imagination and cinematography. The constipated will be glad of this, but we'll never have such lively camp adventure again. There's a lot to be grateful for in these relics from the early "space age" and "Right Stuff" eras.

@@kingsman8475yes you're cccorrect. The andoid ,IDAC voiced these words. He was sent to destroy another android in feminine form. I forget why or the name of girl-bot. She did look familiar Mr Allen had an established habit of trading his company of actors through all of his somewhat outlandish shows. Like Star Trek it reused props ,actors and writers. Even though I'm in my early ,60's, I thought I've watched all episodes of Mr Allen's shows but it seems I haven't. I've never seen this episode beyond and several others unfamiliar. They have a certain vibe a feel like Woodstock that will never be experienced again The days scifi is slick with many lights and sounds interesting story plots often spanding several episodes episodes. Mr. Allens Schlock and Star Trek was the originators öf today's sci-fi I'll watch the new stuff, but I'll definitely watch the 60 stuff with pop corn munching enthusiasm. I can see I'm off topic Ä,

When I was a kid I was the biggest fan of this show. Eventually my folks gave me a model of the Seaview submarine for Christmas one year; I think I was about nine years old. I remember my father helping me with much of the gluing and painting. Kept that old model around for years, until…, while I was away overseas in my third or fourth year on active duty in the navy, when my sister’s young dog, Mr. Peabody, got into my stuff and really managed to chew the heck out of the front end of it. Really mangled the hell out of the bow and whatever those really cool wing-things are called on either side of the bow. My sister felt absolutely terrible about it. I told her forget about it cause it now looked like it just got done battling one of the sea monsters or giant heads of lettuce creatures the crew seemed to find themselves confronting every other week or so on the show !

I was an addict of this series in the first few years but the quality did fade over time. That seems to happen with Irwin Allen productions. It's like he loses interest. He did the same thing with Lost in Space and then the Time Tunnel. Great starts and then after a while, silly and sometimes ridiculous. This was one of the last episodes, so...not as good, but it's true that the actors knew their roles so well they could play along and make it work even though it wasn't very convincing on any level.

A....flying sub..? What the...? I mean how is that possible? It could never happen - how ridiculous! But when this was my favourite TV programme, when this was the absolute highlight of the week that I'd waited another seven days to see the next episode, a flying sub was the most natural invention in the world. Ok, I was 5 and then 6 years old at the time, and I counted down the days of each week until the next 7.15 on a Sunday evening in 1967 and '68 to see what was in store for the crew of the Seaview. This was wonderful stuff, and all those monsters and aliens really existed of course! Still brilliant. I watched these while in Canada - coming back to GB to find Sci-Fi programmes made with puppets made me feel that I'd landed in a country of Luddites! Admiral Nelson and Captain Kirk...I mean Crane...You'd trust your life in their hands!

These aliens aren’t too bright! They can destroy earth but they can’t find let alone kill one man,….the admiral! Why do they want earth destroyed ? What did we do to put them in such a bad mood?

@@ActivateMission2ThisTimeline I don’t know how old you are, but this was not a “kids’ show”. SciFi shows for kids like Rocky Jones Space Ranger, Flash Gordon, Sky King etc. aired on Saturday and Sunday mornings and late afternoon (btwn 3:00 & 6:00) on weekdays. Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea was in prime time at 8:00 pm Sundays on abc, and was the lead-in to the BIG ratings show, The Sunday Night Movie. This show was competing for viewers with Bonanza over on NBC. So, let’s just say it was a kids’ show made for adults or an adults’ show made for kids.

Dr Who had the Doctor, this show had the Admiral. He just programs alien missiles to blow up like a total boss. Just me or did the director struggle to get the whole scripted story in the can? Felt like a few loose ends the editors tried to paper over.

That was a FAST resolution to be sure. That worked out much more convincingly in season 1s The Blizzard Makers.

The thing this series did not have that Star Trek has was good philosophy. The other thing like Star Trek & Star Wars was that they had memorable characters that we actually cared about that this series does not seem to have. But it's still a great example of Maritime science fiction. A fabulous sea adventure.
