I just (July 2022) bought a good used Scout. I've read that some people believe it's one of the best deals in TT's, some even saying that for them it was better than the (old) VPI TnT and other "higher level" tables.

I started 5 years ago (fall 2014) after I retired. I had one Superscope receiver from the mid-70s. My brother-in-law gave me a Sansui 5000x receiver and a good friend gave me a pair of Sonab OD-11 speakers. I knew almost nothing. Just kept reading and researching and buying. I made mistakes but that goes with the territory. I subscribe to 15 or so Facebook sites related to stereo stuff. 😀

Im surprised your not the shitter super static attractor VPI mat. Straight on platter. I have the exact same table, v1.1 Scout

I only use the VPI mat to protect the top of the platter when I’m not using it. The original mat was really ugly. I bought the newer black mat a few weeks ago and it looks nicer. So what cartridge(s) do you use on your 1.1?

With my bad ears, yes! I look at it this way, the short distance from the RCA connections to the cartridge is all the difference.
