I have a real passion for this type of journaling and I'm thrilled that you are going to try it out. Here is a video, if you are interested, in how I've changed my format a bit to enable me to have a book that can accommodate all my daily goings on: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4u9m5eVqLapras&lc=Ugyc9Ud-s9bm7YwBrdF4AaABAg It is the same idea, same daily journaling, I just enlarged the composition book. Thank you so much for watching!! I must admit that I do have OCD tendencies and for some things I do break out the ruler, but for these books, I don't; I do what works and what's easiest. I think it helps too, to not have something like this too perfect and precious (though the memories inside are) because if it was, I would be too afraid to work in it, too afraid I'd mess something up, if that makes sense. Glad you enjoyed. Be well, Elizabeth

I love your tat Elizabeth... I lost my mom last year and there's not a day that goes by I don't think of her too! When I ran over to her house with my problems she would say, it's all about attitude Jeri. I'm really enjoying your process videos. thanks! Big hugs

Doing these books obviously gives you pleasure, so who cares if they're not perfect? They look darn good to me.:) I've recently started raw edge applique, and believe me when I tell you, my projects are less than perfect; however, I enjoy doing them, and I like looking at what I've made. I think the old saying "If you're going to do it, do it right" isn't always the thing to do. Sometimes doing it the way you want is better than not doing it at all.:)
@NeverHopelessbyElizabeth7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching!! I try really hard not to worry about perfection, but it does sneak in at times. I guess that might be one of the reasons I use cheap ol' composition books for my Fauxbonichi; if I mess up, it's not that big of a deal. You are so right about "doing it the way you want, is better than not doing it at all." Be well, Elizabeth

I have the same phrase tattooed on my left wrist! when I was sick at 28, I was always told that, "this too shall pass." it's a life motto for me. I'm glad to share that similarity with you!!
@NeverHopelessbyElizabeth7 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching!! Wow, same tattoo and same location! "This, too, shall pass" is something my mother would always tell me when I felt things were rough. I got it shortly after becoming ill myself in 2009. I kinda has dual meaning for me, a reminder of my beloved mother who passed away after a long illness in 2012, and for me while I deal with chronic illness. I have it on my left wrist because I am right handed, this way I can see it :) Blessings to you! Be well, Elizabeth

@NeverHopelessbyElizabeth5 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching and subbing!! Everyone is creative in their own way :) Years ago I had come across this way of journaling and loved it. Many people use store bought journals, but at the time, I had lots of composition books from homeschooling my children and wanted to use them up. I found that by glueing the pages together, it made for a much sturdier book that would stand up to just about any media I put on it, markers, pens, paint, watercolor, etc. Now I just alter my composition books into junk journals and use that for my journaling (less glue, LOL). Hope you enjoy getting your thoughts down :) Be well, Elizabeth

I wanted to let you know your 2 videos I've see already seem to be just what my son and I need. Journaling your daily feelings or what is or isn't going on that day. Being able to use your art to emphasize your feelings or mood. It sounds like a way to get what we're feeling out without having to talk. My husband passed away 1 1/2 years ago but we've shut down and are in such a rut. My emotions change from day to day and I know his do too. We spend too much time hiding out in our rooms so we don't have to think abut our problems Anyway, thank you for showing us how to do this, I think it will be very helpful. I also wanted to tell you my uplifting quote I think I've told everybody for years when I think it might help. Even my patients when I was working as a nurse, before my body told me I was done , used to hear "This Too Shall Pass". Anyway, I'm ready to learn more about this Fauxbonichi style. Thank you so much for making these videos. We need to wake up and join the rest of the world(or at least the family). Gale

First and foremost, I am so terribly sorry for your loss. May you and your son have a peace and comfort that passes all understanding. Secondly, forgive me for my tardy response, we just went through Hurricane Irma. I think journaling, in any fashion, can be a wonderful release for emotion. I have found it so instrumental in my life these past few years, and it really helped me at the beginning of my chronic illness journey some years ago. Now I do it for the fun of it, to record every day memories, it's really been a blessing in my life. I don't remember if I mention it in this video or not, but I have a tattoo that says, "This, too, shall pass" when I first got it, it was in support of my mother who was quite ill at the time (it's something she would always tell me when I felt things were getting rough in life) and now that she's gone, it is in remembrance of her; there's not a day that goes by that I don't look at my wrist and remember all the beautiful things about my beloved mother. I would suggest looking into the Fauxbonichi Journalers group on Facebook if you can. It is quite possibly the best group I've ever been a part of. Be well, Elizabeth
@galememeeof66887 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for all the good info and just caring. That is what I tell everybody that needs it "This too shall pass" I hope you made it through IRMA OK. That's much more important for your family than responding quickly but I really appreciate your reply. It helps to find someone willing to help. Thanks Gale

I agree with you 100% about the importance of writing down your feelings. For me, if I'm upset with something or someone, I find that by writing it down it helps to rethink it and prevents me from saying or doing something I shouldn't.

I enjoy your videos. I had tried to do this but my pages ripped. Now that you shared how you do yours, I'm going to try again. What challenges do you do? Thanks for the inspiration.
@NeverHopelessbyElizabeth6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching!! The key is to use a glue stick, and glue one set at a time. Make sure your pages dry in between doing more sets, and your pages shouldn't rip. I hope you do try again. You don't have to glue them; you can just washi the sides if you prefer; the pages won't be as stiff, but there won't be any bleed through. I don't usually do challenges, it's too hard for me to commit to following through. Glad you enjoyed and were inspired. Be well, Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth! I love your channel! Your work is so inspiring! I have a silly question for you...where do you get the scrap paper? I started watching your videos for the first time on yesterday and was inspired that I decided to start my first journal. I purchased some things from Dollar Tree to start my stash but I need cute covers for my books. I figured some place like Michael's would have it? I plan to make a food journal (just started my weight loss journey) and also a regular journal that will include my "jotting". Thanks again for sharing your videos! You gave me so many awesome ideas!
@NeverHopelessbyElizabeth7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching, and there is no such thing as a "silly question." LOL!! I get my scrapbook paper from my scrapbooking stash days. They do sell paper pads at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Joanns and sometimes Tuesday Morning. Sometimes I've used magazine clippings to make a collage, covered the front and back in Dollar Tree decorated duct tape, and even calendar pages from calendars that I've purchased at the Dollar Tree. Just about anything can be glued to the front to make a pretty cover, so scrapbook paper isn't necessary. See if your local library has used books/mags for sale or even free, that is a great resource for images :) HTH!! Be well, Elizabeth

I don’t understand the fauxbonichi name. This is just a journal. Like every other journal. This does not resemble a Hobonichi at all. I cut and glue and paint in my Moleskine. So your fauxbonichi could be called a fauxskine? How can everyone only reference one brand? Everyone is doing the same thing in whatever planner, diary, agenda or journal they can find. We are all doing memory keeping in our own way. We are all scrapbooking. I’m so confused. Hope I’m not coming across as harsh. Not my intention.
@NeverHopelessbyElizabeth4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching Pam!! Well, the Fauxbonichi was the brain child of Miss Vicky Bee here on KZbin many years ago. It is a DIY on the Japanese Hobonichi. Originally, it was made out of a graph paper book that held 365+ pages with hand written headers on the top, very similar to the Hobonichi. Over the years people were inspired by the idea and then little by little tweaked it to make it their own. Nowadays, they really are just journals, in my opinion, since very few resemble the traditional Hobonichi anymore. The whole reason Vicky came up with this great DIY idea is because when the Hobonichi first came out, it was cost prohibitive for many, now one can be purchased through Amazon at a much more reasonable price. It was a great alternative for those that wanted a Hobonichi-type journal, but couldn't afford one. Fauxbonichi means...Fake Hobonichi, just like when people started DIYing the Japanese Midori, making their own covers and booklets to go inside and calling them Fauxdori. In the end, a journal, is a journal, is a journal, no matter what we choose to call it. I prefer to call mine a Creative Daily Journal because it encompasses so many different "art" forms, written journal, gluebook, collage, mixed media, smash book, scrapbook...it is just the way that I enjoy memory keeping, and I use one page per day. You are not being "harsh" at all, you had a question, and I encourage that here on my channel. Hope I clarified what I think you were asking :) Be safe and be well, Elizabeth
