I have an 06 A3 build that I guess you can say basically copying others. But I already installed the turbo kit...I'm trying to figure out which would benefit more from the set up vtec killer or a2 rocker/pin swap for real vtec....choices choices

You CANNOT make a base model head run a Vtec rocker arm set. If that were the case everyone would be. If you don’t understand why ya can’t the video is in the k series playlist

You don't need a special cam you just lock the rockers and your always in vtec

Will it b possible to switch those pins n lock the vtec at all times on a k20z3 or k24a2? Do u think thtll add some power to the engine?

The act of locking Vtec isn’t what adds power. Locking Vtec is a means to and end and the end is to use the much bigger three lobe Vtec cams

I think they come with 25° vtc cam when do u think itll be better to switch to the 50° vtc cam befor tunnin or can I just slap the vtc cam gear n b fine with it? Appreciate ur answering my questions and i take alot of knowleage from u. Thank u again

i've had this exact setup. not a good modification to do on anything other than a car that sees minimal street time or minimal stop and go. tuning the idle is an absolute nightmare with the low vacuum the large overlap will pull at lower RPM. in addition there is a substantial loss of power under 4500 RPM. anyone wants a "budget" setup, use an rbb head swap and tsx cams...heres the thing. people throw type s cams in a k20a3 and expect crazy gains when in reality those cams do best over 7500 RPM where the k20a3 runs out of RPM.

@Jon Salgado decided not to go vetec killer I took motor apart waiting to get it cleaned & machined & saving fir the awd conversion it's alot. & I bought another car so it's been on hold. I live where humble performance is located so I'll be having then tune the car once it's done & I'll be posting it. Atm its pretty much all stock oem. But I'm ordering all mew valve springs & retainers. & my built awd transmission I was quoted $5k so I'm set behind alot rn on the build because it's a Costome swap as well into a 2001 saturn sc2. Motor is not in because I have alot of chassie work to do. Re seem sealing & saving the engine bay.

Car is gutted & will be doing costom cani leaver suspension so it's going take alot of money & time. I don't wanna have ass anything as much as it sucks yo have the car sit & feel likes it's never going be finished it's what I gotta do lol

i havent. shoot a link. but not gonna lie your custom lock kit would have to be crazy cheap for me to switch from cutting stock exhaust rockers. the majority i get im not really paying for and the ones i AM directly paying for cost me......id have to tell you in private lol

Locking vtec doesn't increase power. It allows you to use the cams that makesnthe power. Keep diggin

Have you tried running type s cams on the a3 head with the rockers pin swap? I had this set up before in my a3 base Rsx and the car yield 188whp. Dc headers, 2.75 cat back, rbc, type s injector and tb.

So you mean i can put a2 piston in a3 block without bore the cylinder? And my other question a3 with z1 cam lock on big vtec cam with skunk 2 intake headers and exhaust with the piston of an a2 or k24 it will be a great setup for my ep3

Can I put a drag cartel head package or cams on my k24a4 stock not even intake just got it I want make power but with out changing my pistons, I don’t mind changing head then fbo but don’t wanna change pistons atm or what can I do to get vtec on both sides with our changing pistons Bc I keep hearing I’ll have to w any true vtec head swap that has it on both sides

You can use the cams but you’ll have to lock in Vtec. I’m not sure if my Vtec killer playlist has all of those specific videos in it just yet but they are all in my k series playlist. Look it up

Quick Question about timing chain and tensioners I see on ebay alot of kits of tensioner and chain for the k20 mine is a a2 I will need to replace it in the future just for peace of mind Do you recommend original from Honda which is expensive or the ebay stuff I personally am thinking about going genuine but I'd like your opinion. i think the only one i can remember being a legit upgrade to oem is K Tuned. if your going with aggressive cams then upgrade, otherwise oem is fine

If you want the best of the best , for peace of mind , go for the Toda chain & tensioner.. I have them on my N/A k20a2 build , full built, internals, bolt ons , 279 whp ... never failed me once, but they are not cheap... If thats to much for the budget, always go OEM .... DONT risk anything else for chain & tensioner ... if the cheap ones go bad , there's a chance you'll damage your engine... Grtz
