I prettty much agree with all that you said having owned both bikes. Very accurate review in my opinion. My summary would be that as a daily bike the GX is more engaging and enjoyable at any time. The XR is better finished and gives you that premium satisfaction with a bit more raw character of the engine.

Suzuki's last literally forever. BMW's always seem to have some kind of expensive foible that fails when out of Warranty....usually in the engine or shocks. No thanks BMW, I'll take the Suzuki.

I have the a black GX with the sport package including panniers, exhaust, heated grips etc and it’s a very well made motorcycle. Coming from a KTM the reliability is a better trait than any possible bs function on a euro bike.
@johnnyblue479911 күн бұрын
You said nothing about reliability, which is probably because you have no data, but I'd favor Suzuki here. I've heard of quirks with the BMW electronics in the past.

Nice comparison. Here in Spain the GX costs 18.799 eur, with side panniers, but without any extra, as the heated grips and central stand are... yes, an option. Those basic things are extra equipment in a 18K+ bike... C´mon, Suzuki guys, let´s bullshit. On the other hand, it offers 8 years of warranty (you have to read the fine printing tho) and road assistance. IMO it´s ugly no matter from what angle yo look it, even in person I didn´t like it. The BMW looks better overall, have more equipment (even superflous equipment), but the reliability of the machine... well, I don´t know. I like the bike but not enough to take the risk.. So I bought the Tracer 9 GT+ 🤣

reliability of a brand or product is not relevant based on one or two people's experiences but on surveys covering tens or hundreds of thousand of users. And in those, Japanese brands always come on top, at least according to people mentioning said surveys, since they are usually behind pay walls which I am not willing to pay :) And as far as I've seen from videos, somehow, people tend to be more forgiving with issues from BWM or KTM ... oh it's just a fork leak, or shock issue, or just a software glitch and so on, all fixed under warranty in varying amounts of time.

Said before. Using the 2022 SXR is a major flaw in this comparison. I trade a 2022 for a new 2024 and there are MANY improvements. In chassis and engine. For example compliance of the suspension are better and the new quickshifter is light years ahead of the one inches older SXR up to the 2023 model. Not a good comparison here V-Told!

In Romania, the Suzuki Gsx-s1000 GX is 15,500 euros while de BMW1000XR is 20,000 euros. So they are not priced close at all, maybe the government in some countries have bad deals on imports, not the fault of brands.

Does the Suzuki engine have any major failures like the BMW does ?

Nope, it’s not a new engine, it’s ultra reliable and in this form factor it makes roughly 30hp less then on the old gsx-r where it was reliable too.

Ye - why not 🤔🤔 - once in a while, a violent conflict with police, husband of a lover, wild dogs...... can take place, and a fast bike, like one of these, is very nice to have - assuming the incident does not take place in a cold country, during winter, and the ability to, suitably, use the bike is present......

Japan will always be Japan. Thwir culture is making quality while germany is making profits. Just the fact the BMW is switching some of their bikes engines to be made in Loncun China shows that their intention is money saving. And that will continue on all bikes even the more expensive ones. I agree suzuki front loghts are so so but when I look at the tetris loght bmw made for the new GS 🤮. I would go Japan for quality. There is a study on that as to percentage of vigger breakdowns on all brands in furst 4 years of ownership and Japan takes top 3 positions for being most reliable and then come Germans with a huuuge difference.

I have ridden both of these motorbikes and.... they are completely incomparable motorbikes. Already, engine-wise, the BMW leaves the Suzuki far behind and it's not just a question of power, but of characteristics, the way power and torque are delivered. The position, especially for taller riders is significantly different. In the field of electronics, BMW (and many other brands) leaves Suzuki far behind. As for the details - the S model is definitely not the fastest in the segment. Though the M version will definitely be faster. At the end of the day, you may get the impression from this comparison that the GX is comparable to the S1000XR, or even better in some parameters. It isn't. You only need to get on each of these motorbikes for half an hour to get rid of this illusion. Contrary to what you might think, they are very different motorbikes, for completely different riders.

I have both bikes, 22 XR model and a brand new GX. They fight in the same segment. However, I see the bmw more as a crossover and the Suzuki as a pure sport touring. I don´t agree with you at all.
