Yes. Pressing the 0.0 button alone for at least a second will reset the trip odometer.

On my '14 Jetta Sportwagen, I didn't have to start the car. Push/hold set button, turned ignition on and got the message asking me to verify I wanted to reset message. Confirmed by pushing OK button on wheel.

I just did my first oil change at 6252mi and didn't trust dealer to do it right due to the fact the service tech told me it had threaded steel drain plug (WRONG!), after further investigation I confirmed it has plastic one use plug. Dealer also couldn't tell me how to do this reset over the phone, said not knowing the type "there's about 12 different ways to do this reset", even though I told him year make and model and suggested I bring it in. Glad there's more than one local VW Dealer around here surely won't use that one. If a service tech doesn't know these simple things do you think I should trust them to do anything on my car...I don't. Actually I don't trust any of them (my personal experience anyway).

harry berry Yeah. Dealerships are crooks. Although...it's difficult to find good honest mechanics away from the dealerships too:(. Keep on wrenching! Nobody cares about your car more than you do!

Hi, can actually change the oil reminder period ? My car seems remind to change oil after 6months.

hisaching hisaching...Don't quite understand...are you saying reminder is activating every 6 months or you've owned it 6 months from new and reminder is activated? From what I've found out the reminder was set at factory (at the date of production) and regardless of mileage you've driven it (if) it's production date was one year ago reminder activates regardless of miles driven, so if you just bought the car (new) 6 months ago and only driven it very little say 4,000mi and reminder activates it's counting from the date of manufacture not the miles. Remember VW states oil change is every 10,000mi or yearly. I personally won't wait that long I'll be changing mine around every 5,000mi.

Mines been on for awhile now, i own a Golf GTD Mk7 I can't understand why i would need two oil changes in one year? I need to have a service/inspection done in about 130 days so surely you'd get both done at the same time?

Didn’t work for me. It had said that it reset the oil service but after several attempts to switch the vehicle on and off the message is still there!

Is it still showing the oil service message, or is it the inspect vehicle message? See the description of this video for a similar procedure used to reset the latter message.

Any chance the reminder you are getting is for an inspection, not an oil change?

@@chrismantee32 I think I figured it out. When you hold the 0.0 button it prompts you to reset the oil service first, but if you hold it longer, it will prompt you to reset the inspection. I suspect you may have held the button long enough that it cycled past the oil service reset message and to the inspection reset message. In theory, you should be able to perform the same procedure again, but release and press the 0.0 button more quickly to reset the oil service message. Caveat: I saw a few different videos in which Mk7 Golfs from different years and with keyed ignitions had slightly different procedures. Some YouTune videos suggest the hazard lights need to be on to reset the inspection message. Weird. Let me know if this helps.
