This video helped me plan a clutch replacement on my father's car, it's much easier when you know what you're up against! Thank you for making these videos :)

Dude, I also want to thank you so much. I'm not yet completed, but I am part way through a 1998 t4 clutch replacement, and along with the brooklands books ltd workshop manual, I've been using these vidoes as reference. With your help, I'll save ~$1700 on the clutch replacement. You the man. Thanks for your patience and generosity. All the best!

There is no doubt Mark rocket man really knows what he is doing. He has great knowledge of the ins and outs of engine/gearbox systems. What is also impressive is his calm, confident, direct and 'unfussed' presentation. Very different to the average American presenter. However a few small things make it very difficult and frustrating for an idiot like me who is not a mechanic or rarely do major engine jobs. I have such admiration for his overall knowledge that I feel a bit skittish at making a few suggestions. After watching a few of Marks demonstrations, i really felt that with a few minor adjustments the videos would be so brilliant. At times the camera can be a bit all over the place: I know how difficult it is to show things precisely with a headcam while concentrating on the comments, handling parts of the engine and crawling under the vehicle etc ... Not easy at all. But it will make watching and understanding the instructions so much better. At times Mark says things like 'remove this nut' and the camera is pointing somewhere else or moving about wildly or barely showing a very small section of the nut. When he says this bracket needs to come out, the camera wanders over two or three other bits of metal and they all look like brackets while his finger is pointing somewhere else. I reckon you will have to do one section at a time. Film and comment one job or one section of a job at a time and concentrate at pointing the camera precisely at that one piece of the engine. Then film the next bit of the job and so on. I know it will be a bit of a pain doing it that way but trust me it will make a tremendous difference to your video. Ideally you should have someone else doing the camera while you concentrate on the demonstration. But that's not easy. Good camera people are not easy to come by. While watching your videos I got really tempted to jump in a train with my camera. With your amazing knowledge and skills + good camerawork, lighting etc ... who knows.

Thankyou your 100 per cent right, I'm actually holding the camera in my hand,so it can be very difficult. I am no expert on vehicle's I just persevere. But if the videos help people in a small way that's good👍

@@markrocketmangrimstead My turn to thank you for replying Mark. I've been involved with making and demonstrating the making of videos for over 25 years ... and I agree with you, holding a camera with one hand and doing things with the other is not easy at all. I own an old 29 yr old VW Caravelle and found certain sections of your videos very helpful. I live in London and my caravelle minibus is parked on the road so doing any major work on it is impossible. So all the hints and demonstrations are always very helpful. I'd love to do the Caravelle up and keep it going but unfortunately can't do much on the side of the road! Thanks again for your videos. You never know, one of these days I may very well grab my camera, catch a train and end up in Grimstead!
