You should testdrive W453 smart with that 0.9 turbo engine and stick. Take out the engine cover from trunk, you'll love it for sure. Little nugget that makes all the right noises and is amazing fun to drive.

Hey moog! Going from pre facelift to post facelift requires complete wiring harness in the interior aswell as the bay. You will also need new the facelift dash to fit the facelift radio. Both fitment AND cabus communication speed is different. All in all you'll need a complete harness AND almost all modules swapped over for this to work as a complete car

actually in argentina and brazil they sell the UP pepper, wich is a low cost up gti with a 5 speed gearbox and no esp. They build then up to 180hp easily. On a small car it's quite a sleeper. From low down they're faster than any golf gti

I've driven a stock GTI and a tuned, 90hp up that made around 110 and I have to say the 6-speed of the GTI made the car 10x better. The gears on the stock 5-speed are so incredibly long that it really bogs down the car. Great for fuel economy I guess, but the shorter gears in the GTI are a godsend for the agility of the car.

The UP was really popular here in Brazil, however it got discontinued and used ones are going for around 12/15.000 dollars. The problem is that the minimum wage is around 250 dollars

Love your enthusiasm for the Up! GTI. In the UK, I have a fast Audi SUV (SQ2) 300 BHP and my wife has a stock 2022 Up! GTI - one of the last before they stopped selling them here - I find myself constantly stealing her car as it’s so much more fun to drive than mine - puts a huge smile on my face every time I get in the driving seat. I can’t see us ever selling the UP! - definitely a future classic.

I love the up! Just not the back glass lol. Wish we could get them here in the US. (I have a heavily modified S3 and and R8, but still love the UP! lol). The ABS pump is not "to keep you in the VW family".. When abs triggers it no doubt also impacts throttle, ignition timing etc.. I'm sure those things need to talk to each other. I was hoping you would drop in a VR5T... THAT would have been something!

Small cars are SO much fun! As someone learning about maintaining and modifying cars with my Fiat 500 Twinair, as well as this channel of course, this video makes me SO happy and it's so good that you guys appreciate small cars too! I had been looking at the Up!, but went with the 500 because of the turbo and the teeny 0.9L, 2 cyl engine - mechanically it just seemed more "interesting" to me. Keep an eye on the loom in the boot hatch, it gets pinched if the boot is slammed. Also, the door handles sometimes break off but can be repaired pretty easily. My girlfriend's one has done 115k miles + and won't die and still gets good mpg. Ideal city car really.
