I agree with Mark, but I also somewhat agree with Bob tbh. Mark isnt wrong on stating the obvious, in that cleaning dishes is what dishwashers are designed for, but Bob pretty much has a valid point on older or more knockoff stuff just not working as good, regardless of what you say they "should" be doing. So better safe than sorry to like somewhat remove some of the tougher leftovers and stuff and let the dishwasher do the rest Wade, I dont know whats up with him, he's just on the extreme side lmao

Just saying dishwashers are actually designed to have the soap cling to the food left on the plate. You are supposed to lightly rinse but you don't need to deep clean the dishes. As long as there isn't any full matter on the dishes, they are designed on the premise that the dishes are dirty. So mark is right.
@WarriorAuranae
@WarriorAuranae Жыл бұрын
I’ll agree with this: I know I probably clean mine more than needed, but my goal is really just to get solid matter off. because I don’t run the dishwasher every night, and even when I do, where does that solid food go? I had friends over for tacos, and they put their dishes straight in - I opened the dishwasher to find ground meat and shredded cheese all over the bottom, and if I hadn’t looked it would just sit in there rotting all night. and if I ran it instead, I bet that junk would clog something or just make an internal mess.
@fyzorrkigen
@fyzorrkigen Жыл бұрын
@WarriorAuranae yeah that's what I meant by lightly rinse. There shouldn't be any food matter in the dishwasher at all, but when it comes to like sauce, grease, or residue it's fine. The soap works better on those than solid food matter.

It’s not just splashing with hot water, it’s spaying with boiling water! Those spinny propeller things in the washer only spin because of the water pressure, and I’ve nearly burned myself on dishes fresh out of a washer that didn’t have time factored in to let the dishes cool. That’s why some dishes are NOT dishwasher safe. The heat will straight up melt them or crack them, depending on the material.

To Mark, I worked in many restaurants and I've been lazy so I have that knowledge (and f getting yelled at by the chef I'm past learning and I don't let the dishwasher do everything cause it's just as lazy as me), if you don't scrap the food off the plates and/or whatever before putting it in the dishwasher, some of the food may not come off, sure there is a drain but it will get clogged at some point and it won't remove what's really stuck on the plate/whatever, also a dishwasher is only truly useful if you have a lot to clean, you do everything halfway and the dishwasher will do the other half of much more things than you could've done in the same timespan
@wobbuffetbuffet
@wobbuffetbuffet Жыл бұрын
Commercial dishwashers are very different than residential ones. Your average in home dishwasher and detergent are designed for there to be some crud left on them. Not burned on stuff but if you already are prewashing your the dishwasher doesn't work as well. There are videos explaining how this works. You just need to glance at your filter when you unload and if it is full of crud you clean it. They come out easily. As for commercial ones, most don't use any soap because it is just insanely hot water spraying up. So I guess if you don't use dishwasher detergent maybe go the prescrub method. I'm midway to being an old lady and have cleaned a depressing amount of dishes in all sorts of environments. Always follow the machine's instructions. Modern in-home dishwashers will tell you not to prewash. A bigger issue people have with dishes not coming out clean enough is improper loading. As unpopular as it is always read the instructions for any new machine so that you can make sure to get your money out of it.

Isn't it depressing? I have a fridge with damaged seals (from spawnlings) that we keep running by using toddler locks to latch it tight when not in use. We just don't want to replace it as it is a decade old and now it is harder to find a decent low frills fridge. My family laughs at me but everyone else has had to replace their fridge every 3-5 years and we still have ours. When we have to buy new appliances, we look for as low frills/tech as possible. Same with vehicles. The more gadgets added the harder to fix and the quicker to fail.

I feel so bad for Mark in this argument over the abilities of dishwashers. Somehow, in all the vast crowds of people he has known, he befriended two guys from the 3% of people who fail to acknowledge the entire point of a dishwasher and fail to understand the mechanical power of water pressure despite knowing power washers exist. The optimal way about ensuring your dishwasher-washed dishes are clean is by inspecting them after they're put through the washer, and only cleaning the areas that were stubborn or sheltered from the washer. Why in the flying f*ck would millions of people all pay ludicrous prices for a machine that squirts hot water on already cleaned dishes? Just run your dishes under hot water if that's what you're looking for because the dishwater is using your water heater as the source for its hot water anyway.

I even put silverware through 3-5 times, sort it, then another 3-4 times. My childhood neighbor would SCRUB, SCRAP AND WASH before putting it in the dishwasher like 'its sanitizes' ... ... BUT YOURE PUTING IT IN CLEAN. People are suppose to scrap any food left into the trash so there's not much on there in the first place. The main issue is usually that gutter in the bottom gunks out and slows everything down bc its not lile the laundry vent things that you just pull out its like SEVERAL PARTS you need to pull out to clean IT SHOULD BE LOCATED IN LIKE A DRAWER TO SIDE OUT FROM UNDERNEATH and not several leagues under the floor of the dishwasher. Also most washers dont come with like writing or arrows to tell you where the gutter parts are

I have severe germaphobia, especially when it comes to my hands. I've had this issue since I was a child. I can't handle the thought of my hands being dirty. I'm constantly washing and/or sanitizing my hands. It's so bad that I could never touch dirty plates, let alone wash dirty dishes my entire life growing up. Recently, my mom died last year. I'm 38. Our process was she would put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and I would remove them, so I wouldn't have to worry about touching them. She did what Wade and Bob do. I mentally and physically just can't. Even with gloves, the block is still there, but I've overcome it as much as I can to where what I do is I will put the dishes (as quickly as possible) into the dishwasher. Put the setting on deep clean. Then when it's done, I'll run the dishwasher on deep clean again, and once it's done the second time, I'll inspect the dishes, and if there's any specs of anything on the dishes, I'll leave them in the dishwasher, and put everything else up. I can't explain why my germaphobia is so bad, but this system has worked for me, and I'm actually extremely proud of myself for overcoming it as much as I have since she died.

@WolfgangDoW
@WolfgangDoW Жыл бұрын
Ok I know exactly why his dishwasher isn't washing correctly. 1) Not using the prewash feature in how all dishwashers function. 2) Scrubbing the plates before putting them in. Scrape but don't scrub, soap actually needs something to cling onto to work properly With the prewash feature, all dishwashers do 2 cycles, a prewash then main wash. The use of tablets means the prewash stage is done with zero detergents so barely does anything. Throw out the tablets and buy the dirt cheap POWDER detergent and put it in both detergent holders, the prewash is usually right next to the main holder too. If there is no specific prewash detergent holder then literally just throw the powder loose into the machine, like over the dishes Technology Connections has 2 amazing videos that show how dishwashers actually work and how vital that prewash stage is and how tablets work against how dishwashers are designed to work Like seriously, do these 2 things and I guarantee any dishwasher even old ones will suddenly start cleaning so much more efficiently Wade says he worries about food particles swimming around in the machine, well guess what that prewash stage is designed for? 🙃 Also water is a very powerful mechanical force, like power washing exists. Come on Mark has so many videos of him cleaning thick dirt purely from the power of water lmao

4:52 I worked at an Italian restaurant, and I had to physically wipe off half-eaten pasta that the dishwasher missed from the forks and knives on a regular basis. Make of that information what you will.

If anyone doesn't rely on their dishwasher to take care of 90% of gunk (baked on is different) I just see them as an old person wasting their time

Okay as someone who works in the industry first the average lifespan of a dishwasher is 7 years not decades. Bob it sounds like your dishwasher is either worn out or hasn't been maintained properly.

Okay but if I put the dirty dishes in the shitty washer and they come out dirty still they will be less dirty therefore makeing my life a little less difficult even if they come out dirty I just rinse them with hot ass water before putting them in

The main reason you should clean/rinse your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher is so there isn't left over nasty food in the dishwasher itself Trust me, it smell horrendous

My thing about it is there can’t be like, solid stuff left on, because where does it go? Our dishwasher only has the cord to plug into the wall and the tube that connects to the faucet (it’s a weird one it’s not completely integrated) so there’s really no place for the waste to go. Liquid residue should wash back out but even those get rinsed first
