Martin Mystery is the show that shares the same origins of it's sister show, the wildly successful and now still ongoing Totally Spies! Martin Mystery explores the supernatural with a new trio of young investigators who work for a secret organization while also attending school. So today let's take a look at this Martin Mystery, a show that was formed based on the concept of an Italian comic book series that it would drastically adapt in brand new ways.

This was my show back in the day! I always preferred Martin Mystery over Totally Spies since it had a more dark and mysterious tone. I especially loved how it incorporated elements of mythology and folklore while also adding its own unique twists. It's a shame the studio didn't keep it running along with Totally Spies. It could have opened opportunities for more crossovers, keeping their respective fans happy and the studio reaping the profits. I really hope they bring it back.

Martin Mystery was one of the reasons I got interested in monsters and myths, the way the show depicted them brought out the creature lover in me. I also didn't know it had a 3rd season until I was, maybe in high school, since I didn't think Nicktoons Network aired the 3rd season as much as the first 2, or at all. Also, seeing and hearing the Nicktoons Network " We'll be right back" segment for Martin Mystery really brought back a lot of memories for me. 😭 I miss the old Nicktoons Network!

I think this was the first show I ever saw which actually terrified me. Listen man, this show was SCARY as a kid. The monsters were *terrifying* and their terror was amplified by the unknowing atmospheres the character always found themselves in. The worst part was when someone transformed into a monster, it was a new layer of abject horror. Martin Mystery was so scary I could never manage to watch a full episode, at best I would see a chunk of the episode but when things got too real I switched to a more light hearted show. And if I worked up the nerve I'd switch back to Martin Mystery after the light hearted show calmed me down enough. And to answer your question, yes, this show literally did give me nightmares. It was no joke.

The Lost Tribe episode scared the absolute shit out of me as a kid and gave me nightmares. I vaguely remembered the show but parts of that episode stayed in my brain forever, they were fuzzy memories that didn’t seem real but I remembered the bald forgotten queen and the golden yellow pallet. I watched this and then used those fuzzy memories to find The Lost Tribe episode and remembered the whole thing. My sister loved Martin Mystery and made me watch it with her. But I had her watch this video and she doesn’t even remember it at all. Even though it scarred me as a kid it makes me sad she doesn’t remember it. I liked both shows but Martin Mystery grabbed my attention more because of all the super natural things it led to as opposed to totally spies where it was some super villain of the day. Totally spies focused a bit more on character interaction which felt organic and splashing in spy concepts while Martin Mystery was more on suspense and looking at the unknown with a basic level of character interaction to create a general idea of the cast and their habits.

There is one crossover episode! Iirc it was in a snowy setting involving an investigation of something like the abominable snowman, and it hinted at a potential romance between Martin and Alex. *Edit:* Ah the video mentions the crossover episode at 11:00. 😂 But yes, I agree it would be fun if the shows played with the crossover idea even more than just the one episode. They could perhaps include _Team Galaxy_ too, another one of Marathon Media's shows!

Marathon could have merged both “Martin Mystery” and “Totally Spies” into the same show. They could have made it by making the Spies episodes shorter and giving Martin Mystery it’s own block, similar to how some aimed-for-kids tv cartoons did in the early 90s. The plots could have overlapped with one another, having Martin and the Spy trio team up more often.

Been waiting for you to do this one. Loved this show as a kid, it was evident to me that it was related to Totally Spies from the art style and I just knew I had to keep up with it as much as I could. I’d record every episode I could onto my cable box’s DVR, hah Additionally: it’s really frustrating that so many youth tv shows live and die based off of how much merchandise it can sell. If you can’t convince kids across the world to beg their parents to buy them toys from the show or spend their allowance on it, networks just sigh and shake their head and close it up. Feels like most youth programming is caught up in some sort of scam with that thinking -_-

Martin Mystery was a pretty unique show in it's own rights. Granted it had elements you could see in other shows, but it had it's unique twist on them. The technology showed from both Martin's Watch and The Center, the various locations, an even having legit monsters to deal with. Plus the characters worked off one another pretty well. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Martin Mystery making a return in one form or another, so long as it can still capture the same atmosphere and that the fans know and love.

Yup, I remember this cartoon very fondly. Wish these kinds of shows are still made today, but eh... lots of cartoons nowadays prefer to take it safe most the time.

LOVED Martin Mystery as a kid. The main character is able to be put in so many fun horror scenarios, and when he's having fun, you buy it. When he makes a smart quick decision, you buy it. And when he's disregarding something, ultimately leading them into trouble, you still buy it. The Men in Black style organization with high technology made it open for sci fi concepts as well, so I loved that too. MOM's scenes are always a mystery.

Still one of my favorite cartoons growing up and the focus on darker, more supernatural and horror-themed threats gave it an edge for me over Totally Spies (which I enjoyed as well). The title cards, the monster designs and monster re-inventions as well as the stories that homaged famous horror films was right up my alley and I wouldn't say no to reboot. A clean revival, I don't know... The last season was a bit of a let down to me, the choice to replace threats all over the world, to making the school the main setting for troubles was a downgrade if you ask me.

It's one of my most favorite shows. Till this day, every once in a while I would watch the episodes. Surprised to see how many people remember it as a fever dream.

I remember liking this more than Totally Spies but it was harder to find than Totally Spies, so I just had to settle for seeing it whenever I could.

I loved Martin mystery. Even played pretend as Martin mystery. I got a spy tech toy watch. And pretended it was his watch. And I lived by the woods and acted like their were creatures in it.

I remember Martin Mystery... I technically wasn't allowed to watch it but I still caught it sometimes. Totally Spies was something I didn't see till years later. My favourite episode of Martin Mystery is Nightmare of the Coven. I think part of the problem is the show's pacing. Everything has to be wrapped up neatly so the show felt rushed at times. I think if we did get another season it should be Martin and co. training the next set of agents and perhaps reminiscing about some of the past cases. For instance, in the aforementioned Nightmare of the Coven there's so many unanswered questions such as what did the witch actually intend to do so that she could "rule once again." She turned the student body into copies of herself but she obviously, didn't desire to turn all the girls in the world into witches as she said her coven was "complete" with Diana. I think the version we saw seems rather condensed.

I loved this show. It was cool having their school be located in the next town over. YTV aired alot of Canadian centric cartoons that took advantage of setting like Jacob Tootoo in Montreal, Being Ian in Vancouver and Yvon of the Yukon. Not sure if anyone knows what I'm talking about.

Even through I watched just few episodes of Martin Mystery, I can say that the series is pretty interesting with the teens fighting the supernatural and stuff and I would've wanted this show to have gone on longer or be as loved as Totally Spies was. P.S: Jordan, you should do a video on Redakai Conquer Kairu or some other Marathon/Zodiak Media show that ended too soon.

I'm Italian so I watched the series dubbed and I didn't know Diana and Martin were related, so I did a short search and through the Italian wiki. "In the original dub it turns out that the two are half-siblings: Martin's father, Gerard Mystery, married Diana's mother when the children were very young. In the Italian version, kinship relationships are never mentioned, the two are simply childhood friends." What a bad censorship or at least I think it is a censorship.
