Agreed. OF COURSE she couldn't talk to t'challa because of Chadwick's passing. They easily could have made her see her mother OR what i thought was going to happen was see her mother and father together in the afterlife. She would see that even though a terrible thing happened to her mother, ramonda got to be with her husband again. It also would've shed some insight on how t'chaka interacted with his wife and daughter because we only really see him with t'challa at the signing of the accords. I don't know how predictable others thought of her seeing Kilmonger but it wasn't even a thought for me, I thought we wouldn't see him again.

Agreed. He really seemed to have matured from his spiteful isolationist Jabari leader self while also bringing a more practical voice to the Council, and you could tell he had great respect for T'Challa even though he let Zemo live. He seemed to get humbled by his brief encounter with Namor and him taking time to talk to Shuri alone after Ramonda's funeral to give her advice and guidance was an excellent little scene showing his wisdom as a leader among his people, as well as showing his respect for her intelligence and faith that she may be able to become the Black Panther

@Whiteythereaper
@Whiteythereaper Жыл бұрын
Okoye's whole world shattering as she gets screamed at for her failure was brilliantly acted. She's always been an exceptional warrior and for Ramonda to fucking blast her for standing by while Killmonger bested T'Challa in ritual combat, killed Zuri, took the throne, burned the Heart-Shaped Herb supply which led to T'Challa's unavoidable death & the repeated attacks on Wakandan outreach hubs in attempt to steal Vibranium, the radicalisation of the Border Tribe that got HER OWN HUSBAND EXILED, and then taking Shuri on a dangerous mission that ended in disaster with her possibly being executed, Damn. The pain in her eyes as she realised just how much resentment Ramonda harbours for her at that moment while she has done nothing but show unwavering loyalty to her duties as Dora Milaje and the Throne was brutal.

Shurri's dark streak made sense to me. In the first movie, she was cocky, arrogant, mocked traditions and she had full faith in her science. Her not being able to save T'Challa with her intelligence broke her. Made perfect sense for her to be straight murder eyes when her last connection to her family tradition was killed by Namor, Which is WAY more traditional than her family ever was and had to take the good from her tradition as well as science to show her worth and beat Namor with both the black panther mantle and her creating plans and weapons using her science.

One of my big complaints (which is admittedly pretty small) is that Talokan never really _feels_ like Wakanda’s equal. Like, we’re told a bunch of times that Talokan has equal access to vibranium that Wakanda does, but we never see any cool technology from them. Their most impressive weapon is a grenade that explodes water. The rest of their armoury is like spears and shit but their spears don’t even shoot lasers.

I really loved Okoye in this movie, she became even more of an interesting character through her ark, and was always entertaining to see on screen. I also really appreciate films taking their time to take us through environments and characters thoughts and feelings, this movie definitely benefited a lot from that despite some of the unneeded stuff. The addition of Mesoamerican cultures was done so well too, I knew nothing about Namor going into this and I'm already full on board with the character, his history, his people and Talokan, and I'm eager to see more. (Some of my favourite shots were in Talokan too, so good) Much respect to everyone who worked on this movie, it really seemed like they all really cared about the project, and it was such a nice tribute to Chadwick. One thing I really liked was the small callbacks to the first movie with mirrored scenes & lines. It felt really natural in the story of grief to want to go back to the past with these little moments, and also helped to maintain the Wakandan views & culture. Shuri asking for Toussaint's Wakandan name at the end for him to deliver it in the same way Killmonger did just adds a nice little touch to the ways of the Wakandan people, as well as creates a nice paralled of the two characters, as young T'Challa will grow up much like Killmonger did, but with that connection to Wakanda to ensure he doesn't go down the dark isolationist path when he grows older. Other things like Shuri coming to the same realisation T'Challa did in Civil War but about herself and Namor was a strong moment of maturity the character still needed, realising that pursuit of vengeance is toxic & petty, and that acting on pure emotion is a bad thing as it removes the ability to think rationally and plan for the long term. M'Baku stepping up to offer his support for both Shuri emotionally & the nation as a whole was an excellent way to show his character growth from the first movie to Infinity War to now. You can tell that he had an immense respect for T'Challa and truly embraced the other tribes of the nation when offered to represent the Jabari in the Elder council. He has immense wisdom and shows his ability to think practically and clearly at all times, refuses to be intimidated by Ramonda and fearlessly chews out Okoye for being so overconfident in her ability as a Dora that Shuri got abducted by what Ramonda had described as a hostile entity with immense power. I have a few minor issues about the movie's pace overall being a little too slow in some places, and there were some questionable choices when it came to how dark some scenes were and the weird focus blurring around the lower edges of the screen on a massive amount of the movie (seriously, there were points where I couldn't make out half of the screen because of the poor lighting choices, mostly in Talokan & the underwater cave) but overall they don't impact the movie nearly as badly as the first movie's CGI did, except for the Wakanda skyline backgrounds in most scenes. They still can't make realistic looking background plates in these movies as they can never get the depth or lighting right, it always looks 2D and I really wish they'd use 3D environment modelling instead. Hell, go back to using matte paintings, I don't care, those still managed to capture a sense of scale and detail so brilliantly for decades. CGI backgrounds are the biggest eyesore in the whole MCU and it really sucks to be reminded every 2 minutes that most of the movie is being shot on Green/Blue screen. Civil War for example did great with most of the Airport stuff as it was actually filmed outside in real lighting with the green screens a realistic distance away from the camera. Then we transition to the fucking Quinjet hangar and it looks like a MASSIVE empty space inside because the backgrounds are way too big and detailed for realistic focus pull on the characters.

I love how much of a threat Namor was in clear ways. He's got centuries of ruling so his pride is stronger than iron PLUS there's the hate and paranoia of the surface world, so you can't just talk to him to win. As far as power, he and his minions could get to just about anyone as long as there is a waterway (which made me wonder why they didn't just get their target without Wakanda's notice anyway; maybe he just figured wanted the alliance because he wanted to strike the surface world no matter what). Killing him specifically won't necessarily end things because his people see him as a god and would probably keep fighting to the last man. And you can't even be sure that giving him what he wants will stop him from asking for more (and not taking your no for an answer). Even losing for him was seen as a long-term gambit for a more favorable position when Wakanda may need him. Namor isn't someone to mess with.

I personally loved how the movie highlights that grief and pain can absolutely amplify the weaknesses in all of us - both Namor and Shuri had their motivations twisted by loss, and it feels somewhat sad that the other critiques I've seen of the film see that flaw as just something "dumb".

It honestly didn't feel like a 2+ hour movie. I agree with the white government dude subplot could have been cut. Shuri's arc is so great. Also, super important. THERE IS NO STUPID LINES IN THIS MOVIE!!!! No lines that made me sigh and roll my eyes like most marvel movies. Best MCU movie since Infinity war because even movies like Endgame and NWH have absolutely dogshit writing at times with stupid fucking lines. This movie is honestly better than the first by a long shot.

Crazy, how the comedy moments in this movie were handled tastefully. Compared to most MCU movies. Especially M’baku, he had funny and serious moments. That didn’t feel forced or out of place. My favourite character in the movie.

I thought Shuri's armor having gold and silver trim was a nice little touch. More gold but then also having the purple kinetics gave her a nice blend of the 1st movie suits

The gold reminded me of Killmonger's suit which ... makes sense
