When I first got into 40k, I was drawn to Chaos by the idea of them representing some kind of “dual nature”. What soured me on Chaos was just how 1-dimensional it tends to be. I wanted to see the side of Khorne that I was promised, the side that despised sorcery as the last resort of weaklings, the side that valued the skulls of mighty opponents slain in worthy combat, the side that scorned base treachery and hungered for his champions to demonstrate their worthiness through their own capabilities. And far more often, I just found the same tired meme of BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE. Butchers are boring and predictable. But warriors…warriors can be so much more nuanced. So when I see a tale of a War Hound, awakening from millennia of unthinking slaughter and deciding to be reasonably angry about being sold a false bill of goods, I am *very* interested.

Blood for who? Skulls for what? I remember that line from the heresy novels where Angron is railing at Gulliman about "courage and honor, courage and honor!" Korne sells the illusion of noble combat. Testing of martial skill and the nobility of rejection of all but the strength of self. The irony to me has always been that the lie is told almost alongside these justifications: "He cares not from whence the blood flows. Only that it does"
@boneman-calciumenjoyer8290 Жыл бұрын
Reminds me of an old black crusade character I had. His name was Krack and he had an unfavourable meet up with a necron deathmark once, this encounter somehow still failed to kill him. Long story short, he became lucid, no brain fog from the nails anymore, no rage, no bloodlust or pain... just silence. Ended up working as a mercenary for a roguetrader later on. He was my only character who got a "happy end" like that.

Listening to Crixus slay the terminator makes me wonder how many World Eaters have come back from the influence of the Butcher's Nails and killed other World Eaters - Die like a warrior, while killing other traitors as a last act of absolution before being cut down. Most would be too far gone under the Nail's influence to care but it makes me think that maybe Crixus isn't the only one trying to right an old mistake. Great work always to Vox and the Author! ⚔️

Love it. At first I felt like Krixus' change of heart(s) was a bit abrupt, but after giving it some thought I quite like it. The World Eaters are impulsive and unpredictable by nature and that's not going to change no matter whether they're loyal or traitor, so a snap decision makes sense. I'm excited to see if the change is permanent though. I know the Gaunts Ghosts novels established the idea of "the armour of contempt" - that you can resist Chaos just by despising it enough - but to be able to reject Chaos AFTER having fallen and after 10,000 years of service to Khorne, in which most of that time was spent literally in the Warp... Well it would be pretty impressive. And it would open up a whole lot of very interesting possibilities. I know you're probably thinking the redemption of the Alpha Legion and the Thousand Sons, but consider what it might mean for the radical factions of the Inquisition - having proof that a person can immerse themselves in the power of Chaos then just choose to turn away from it would be a pretty convincing argument for allowing the use of Chaos as a weapon by the Imperium...

World Eaters are really cool. One of my favorite traitor legions. Kharn, and whoever that WE is in the novel Furious Abyss (forgot his name), are especially great. When World Eaters, even shortly after Nails implantation, fight, you can see the honor behind the frenzied insanity. I personally can pretty easily figure out what the Emperor was trying to do with the War Hounds, most likely something like the Vylka Fenrika (sp., sorry), but without the spontaneous lycanthropy. The loss of the World Eaters' honour, and for favour with a primarch who 1) considered himself a dead man walking after he'd been prevented from committing suicide by massed arms fire, and 2) had no goddamn clue how to implement any tactics above the complexity of a fire team, and besides didn't think such things were worthy of his attentions, is just some extra awful on top of this five course banquet of horrible. Not even talking about the mass implantation of the Nails, which is even sadder.

I can guess what it's like to entirely lose yourself in fury. I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and I've been submerged in fear before. I'd imagine it's similar to what you said, but colored differently, if that makes sense. Plus, fight reaction for rage, flight reaction for anxiety.

@@lucyhoelscher273 Yes you're right it's very much like you've been taken under by these massive waves of raw emotion and as you sink further and further down into the depths you don't even think to fight it cause it has enveloped you so fully nothing else matters but that rage which seems to permeate through your entire body like hot posion. So from what I understand from this story, a world eater, turned agaisnt his own brothers/forces because he felt it was wrong? I knew they killed anything that came in their line of sight or just for the sake of khorne, but I never heard of anything like this.

@@AVoxintheVoid To add on for clarity, Crixus doesn't fight to save the Imperium or protect its people; that's something of a happy accident. He fights because he recognizes that Angron turned them all into rabid dogs. His rage is that he allowed himself to be put on a leash, and wielded as a weapon to prove his loyalty to someone who didn't care then, and is beyond caring now. That he willingly let himself be bound as a slave to the Red Angel, and then to Khorne, as a perversion of everything his father told them he stood for. There is no saving what the World Eaters have become, including himself. All that remains is to put them down. Also, if folks want to see more of him (as some seem to), I was considering keeping Crixus in reserve as an occasional walk-on/extra in future tales... where he might be just as much a danger to our protagonists as he is to those they're fighting against.

I enjoyed this one, not quite as much as the first World Eaters vid (something about the way you narrated that one really stuck with me) but still a good story (the author's other work - Almost - was also great). I'd just also like to say that I'm so glad you find such good-quality fan-fics to narrate. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind you reading old fluff pieces, but it seems like you do your best work with your fan-fic vids. Finding decent 40k fanfiction can be so frustrating at times and its nice to see a channel willing to host fanfic content and that its legit top-tier content. Keep it up and may your channel prosper!

Great story, it really helped portray the World Eaters relationship with their father. Also loved the descriptiveness of it, how their armor was damaged, or stained with ash and blood. Really helps you picture that the World Eaters are exactly that, the eaters of worlds, bringing only destruction and carnage in their wake. The music was also a very nice and welcomed touch, it makes the action scenes a lot more exciting. I don't know if you've been asked this before (wouldn't be surprised), but whats your favorite legion? Apart of me is guessing the World Eaters due to your musical past. The World Eaters are second place for me after the Iron Warriors. Keep up the great work!
@AVoxintheVoid3 жыл бұрын
Thankyou for the kind comment brother chicken! 😜 I've always liked chaos marines but never really collected. I would say the more brutal the better as I'm a bit of a gore hound so world eaters are up there. Every time I research the factions before I do a narration I seem to fall in love with them! Iron warriors, night lords, death guard, blood angels, Ogryns. I can't seem to settle on one faction!
@mcchicken18493 жыл бұрын
@@AVoxintheVoid Seems your affinity to Chaos marines has been picked up by your daughter. Chaos corruption truly does spread at a alarmingly rate... If she draws a picture for you one day that opens up a Warp portal unleashing a horde of Nurglings into your house (good luck getting those stains out of the carpet after), or if she tries to murder you with a chainaxe (blood is also hard to get out of carpet, especially if your dead), you only have yourself to blame. I have yet get into mini's myself either, but I plan on doing so one day. Also, can relate to the "more brutal the better" sentiment. I don't blame you for having a hard time settling on a faction, they are all pretty cool for all their different unique reasons and aesthetics. Took me a while to finally settle on the Iron Warriors. Ironically, my first favorite faction was the Black Templars. My love of their attrition warfare tactics, and aesthetics as well as relating to their bitterness was what did it for me in the end.
