My son had a client he found out that her young kids they were just old enough to talk and their mom left their bikes outside on the side of her house and the next day they were stolen. Well my son found out about it and went to the store and bought all 3 kids new bikes to cheer them up and to see them smile again. He went up to the house and to the ladies kids I have a surprise for you guys and my son pulled out those 3 bikes out of my truck and those kids were so happy that they made my son sound like he was a super star and was my opinion. He is only 20 years old. I had no idea what was going on until he told me. Then I was so proud of my son doing that for those kids. Have a great and safe day everyone.

Hi Chris, I watched and listened to your latest Cuomo on the couch and your walk and talk. ENJOYED them both very much, as usual. You mentioned possibly starting a subscription. I can understand why it could be beneficial. Unfortunately we live on a fixed budget, I work in a nursing home and my husband is disabled. It's a struggle for us as it maybe for others. So selfishly I ask that you don't change. Saying your podcast has helped me is an understatement. I would TRULY miss it, I use it also as an escape from my hectic days. I really have 2 full time jobs, my work at nursing facility and taking care of my husband. Thanks for listening. Sandy

Fasting is a form of deprivation, but rather than focusing on lack for lack’s sake its goal is to get you to focus on whatever spiritually or non-spiritually you want to achieve. It’s a form of sacrifice. In Jesus’ case he fasted to draw closer to God. But you can fast from anything. Example. . .Television because you watch too much of it and you want to concentrate on other activities. It’s really about what you want to achieve. You don’t have to become a martyr to deprivation. Just set a goal and a boundary. There’s nothing wrong with wanting and acquiring nice things either. It’s when you covet and hold them higher than your morals that it usually becomes an issue. Nice walk andTalk Chris. I enjoy them . . . Keep going. 😊

I listened… didn’t send my thoughts & my sharing yet…on the subject which from my life french/American & the Italia/American man I was married to…there are hundreds of similitudes…what differs though is who we are to start with… For example …. I had or have a lot of Jewish people in my life… for the eldest ones…after all the horrors we know…some have embraced life with joy, happiness, generosity like a thank you for having had their lives saves…appreciation When for some others they could only face the pursuit of their life with a deep pain, guilt, remorse, bitterness… clearly unable to ever be happy again…. So in front of a same situation, we all react so differently… Therefore we have to respect the unknown reasons of each of us to respond in same situations ( in credit to your brother, to be the first born in the Family, has certainly put a lot of weight on him) I guess that will be it Thank you Chris 🇫🇷🇺🇸 Enjoy the rest of this beautiful Sunday day

I believe in creation, not deprivation. Where I'm at: I have a son with special needs who is going to need a lifetime of support. I'm creating a local non-profit to provide lifetime residences that are safe, secure and fun for adults like my son because they're needed. And right now, where I'm at, residences like this don't exist. I'm creating it. When we create for others, it can really help lift everyone up.

Good walk. I'll look forward to wandering upon you again someday soon maybe, but I've never needed to look for trouble it always finds me. Something I want to share, having lived in a marriage for 9 years giving it everything I had and leaving me with nothing but a quicker trip to homelessness, because of divorce. I've always been a communicator, picking my battles and successfully I might add which makes me hard to live with, I don't mind the failures I remember them but not like those I beat out at other times. When I was pregnant I told my husband life had to change, I coached him. When the baby came he would do video calls with his family and then ignore me and not speak to me. When the baby came he'd text pictures of her to his family and friends but rarely me. When I couldn't take him participating in life about her with everyone else but me, I said to him, "I'm thinking about divorce." I of course took the sanctity of marriage at its most root meaning, don't give me an STD because you don't want one and you don't want your kids to have too many cooks in their kitchen. I actually expected him to reach back, or wanted him to, and to tell me what he could do more with me and not them. I prepared myself that he would stay married but then go on with them and keep excluding me, in which case, I too would have stayed married but finally used my paycheck to do me, as you said. What I didn't expect was after all his pontification of family, and loyalty, and what his parents meant to him, that he would stand up in less than 30 seconds, say no words to me, tell everyone at the superbowl party we were at that day that we were done, and then serve me with divorce papers according to a CFP timeline of 6 months. I was amazed at how he actually thought about marriage with a marriage certificate or not. We made a life together for 9 years and it came across that he only did it to give me a lesson and find a way to my father's estate plan. All evidence points to this mentality for him, but life with him was killing me. We didn't want to do the same things with the money we earned, we didn't have the same outlook on the world we wanted our children to see and to change. So, what I am trying to say is that it is good to be selfish, and marriage isn't always a dopamine thrill aka a honeymoon. By my grandparents example, and it wasn't always perfect, what was good was that someone hung in there with you.

I call it the cycle of violence. I'll never forget working the food line in my first job, only job, at the University of Iowa in my dorm cafeteria. Lent came around and one guy would come in and always ask for like 11 or 12 eggs. I would almost vomit when I'd dish them out to him, because I'm not a huge fan of eggs. On toast, good. With cheese and a lot of salsa, aslo good. But 12 sunny side up still with a little bit of runny . . . yuck! And he would say, "I'm Catholic," I'm not supposed to eat blah blah blah. I was always shaking my head, "Lord, is this how Catholics want to be remembered?"

Austerity employs the element of self-control. Therein lies the virtue. Deprivation is a condition that is generally imposed from external factors and/ or people and suffering usually ensues due to injustice. I like the way that you close the walk by mentioning how a person's ceated lifestyle is theirs for the choosing, and at the end of the day it is theirs to judge. You are correct when you mention that balance is the key to life. I am out of balance, and I need people in my life to obtain equilibrium. I'm working on it. Do you have any suggestions? Walking Bear lives for another wise " Walk and Talk." Peace out.

I think fasting is a choice and thus not deprivation. Being deprived is not getting your needs met. And, when we do, we have balance. Definitely money can help, and you probably can give with your former million dollar salary and settlement, so do that then! Do you need two houses? Good insight about compensating emotions!

Chris is one of the few professional Journalists who allow comments on their platforms. Many amateur script readers (Liberal & Conservative) feel threatened by allowing readers to share their views. I have a perspective on Chris' comment regarding 'Giving up chocolate' for lent. True, giving up a food item is not the true meaning of lent for adults. However, encouraging a child to give up sweets during the lenten period - Builds willpower. Lent, to many Christians, is an opportunity for: 1) Prayer 2) Fasting 3) Almsgiving. Historically speaking, Lord Jesus did not provide almsgiving during his 40 days. He only fasted and prayed. He demonstrated his almsgiving during his ministry. I agree with Chris that balance is key. He alluded to abundance. Abundance within a person's soul is so much better than abundance in material possessions. When one focuses too much on having money, even if it's for an altruisitc motive, it can become your masterr. There will be no limit to how much is enough? Your brother, work colleague or friend will always make MORE MONEY THAN YOU. However, you can have more within your soul if you are closer to God, your family and nature. One aspect of this Walk & Talk I do not agree with is Chris' concluding comments that you only have to be accountable to yourself. Sure, its important to have a healthy self esteem and not allow negative judgements dominate your life. However, if a person gauges their own productivity and qualities by themselves, this can lead to a false sense of perception, as Plato and Mohammad alluded to. Humility is the ability to admit that we are fragile and make stupid choices sometimes. If we do not have a reference point of perfection, as in God, then we will constantly look to a HUMAN BEINGS as examples. Human beings are full of fallacy. God isn't.

No, I don't wish or dream I had more money. Money truly is the root of all evil. I'm fine with just having enough and not so much I can be bored enough to get into trouble. (Aka Jared Fogel). When you have too much money, or are so rich you can buy anything you want... People sadly do.. Buy anything they want... Doesn't matter if it's legal or not.. When your rich you buy what you want. Then try and get away with it.. It's all just a game to the rich.

Doing more, interesting to hear you say as most people in your financial status don't know what it is to be denied food and to go hungry from someone other than a parent. When you go hungry you brain operates different, and as a student who learned about Ketosis I paid attention differently to how my body fell nauseas or lightheaded, headaches, tiredness. Food stamps helped make up the difference but it took a month or two to work out a regimen that could sustain me from getting sick because of lack of a balanced diet, a regular eating schedule of food I prepared and had all of the food groups. Vegetables and fruit were not given for meals, even when asked for and even when a person said they were a vegetarian. So, when Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and spoke with the devil, I remember that Buddha did the same thing, as did other religions and the lesson is working your Central Nervous System on that which is not readily available. Your CNS only uses ATP which requires sugars. Fat breaks down into sugars differently than protein and enters the blood stream at different rates respectively. These are the things you notice when you are starving and you listen to people differently, and look at them differenlty when they've got a few pounds to lose while they tell you how inept you are as a person and that they like how they pronounce your name better their way.

It is okay to be successful, I enjoyed it myself but still something was missing for me. I grew up with people much like your father, and it's funny for me to think now that they were Republican because that was the reason I registered Republican. They never spoke of their vote or votine record, nor did they say they were Republican. We knew we were American. I live in a bare home now, but it is mine. I clean it when I want, it is kept like I want, and when I walk in I remember how much my grandparents home was about me, it smells the same as when I loved and felt safe with family. People will work to eat away at you for this little part you speak of, but I don't doubt that when fire meets fire you will learn to live rich or poor finding the same place that I did.

A salve for the poor is faith. I disagree, faith gets us through that which keeps us poor. For example, I live in a home that I enjoy but doesn't have much. I've lived all my life hearing women speak of how my home would look more inviting if I had more trinkets about the house. I disagree, I would be angrier: Harder for dusting, Something to break and have to replace, More stories I may not want to tell, etc. Trinkets in a house don't make it a home, the person being at ease in their house makes it home. Furthermore, where I live now, things go missing and I live alone. No husband to blame. Yet these things happen while I'm led to believe I'm being respected, loved, forgiven, whatever the millionaire doctinators can sell for more donations. While I get angrier and angrier at living on $15k per year and these millionaires are stealing from me, stealing things they gave me from their warehouse which they claim a tax-exemption for and they steal it back from me. Dare I say they would call me inappropriate if I told you they were "indian givers?" My faith gets me through because there are stories in the Bible which give me a little more patience and them more rope to hang themselves, and each time God gives me the gift to tighten the noose, I take it. From here forward, I'm not going to edit, as if we were really walking together.
