@almartinelli50547 ай бұрын
The subwoofer setting on the radio is not controlling anything unless the output rca on the rear of the unit is used. The amplifier in this particular situation is not the best choice. Keep that 4 ch for the other speakers in the car, front and rear. Get the other Jensen amp that you had, the monoblock and hook that to the sub out on the radio and the sound will blow your mind. Jensen is inexpensive but decent. Try it with the box laying down with the woofer facing up with the wide portion or the bottom of the box up against the rear wall of the trunk or up against where the rear of the seat would be facing backwards. The bass giggles are sooo relatable. Kicker is way better than Jensen and Dual. Subwoofers need power to sound good. RMS power is what matters, peak ratings are for marketing. Another fun video. Thanks guys.

The system we all thought about running, but too afraid to try. Much respect for this video. I remember my buddy and I built a 2.5in slot port box for one of those subs as a joke. We have a fair amount of experience with other brands at high price points and performance, and we were actually super impressed by the output that little sub had in our box at probably only 500w or less. Definitely an underrated system. I ended up throwing 3kw at it one day to see what would happen and it promptly blew up. But for how inexpensive and accessible it is, it’s really solid to say the least.

For that subwoofer (single 4 ohm voice coil/300w rms) you could also use the Jensen xda92rb (2 channel amp from your other video.) It can be bridged to 4 ohm and is rated to put out 240w rms at 4 ohm that way, plenty for that sub. Just + to + and - to - and boom, 4 ohm, bridged, 240w rms (The following is for anyone else reading, cause you guys know this now) On those Jensen amps, the master volume setting on the app is the gain. The "gain" in the xover settings is a bass boost so just leave that on 0. Anyway, for crossover settings set it to 80hz (LPF only) with the slope setting at -18dB, or -12dB on the Jensen app and the slope setting on headunit to an additional -12dB, so thats -18dB slope just on the app or -24dB from the amp's app + headunit slope. My favorite is -24dB slope, it just sounds cleaner imo. On headunit make sure to set the subwoofer level at max, thats your RCA voltage, you need that. Just careful with any bass boost settings, those on 0 always to avoid any distortion which kills subs

So far has been in service in my 2015 Camry. Me and my gf we love playing it loud on long runs one time we had road trip from San Francisco to Las Vegas we played loud and proud all the way the amp did stop playing for a second because it was 110 degrees in Las Vegas but then it kick back and we kept playing lol. Ever since no issues. Have fun guys gain in your stereo keep it 0db and amp level try to keep it 3/4 is just the basic adjustment you can apply that in home audio too.

TUNING SUGGESTION: from front seats it sounds clean but from the trunk pov it definitely sounds distorted. but with youtube audio compression who knows. However if the amp has subsonic filter i highly suggest using it. id set it at 45 hz or so. what subsonic does is at whatever hz you set it to any hz lower than that it will send less watts to the sub to keep you from blowing the sub when you have your gain and bass boost set as high as it is. I really love your channel the budget minded attack on sound. tired of all these channels saying cheap and budget then throw a $200 sub in a $400 box keep up the relatable content!

@TNG11Automotive lol don't feel bad, we all learn things as we go along I've done 3 setups now on my own and I learned that the subsonic setting on the amp is basically a Hpf High pass filter and in my current setup I found that with the lpf on the head unit set to off and both the lpf and the subsonic on the amplifier turned all the way down gives me the best experience I heard you say that some songs wouldn't bump as good as other songs and I too was having that issue, I listen to a lot of 80s rock and metal and before I made the change I would always be changing eq settings to try to get that nice deep bass cuz even some rock does have deep bass kicks and I wasn't getting that before and now with those changes I made turning off the lpf on the head unit and then turning the lpf and subsonic all the way down now my rock music and all other music sounds amazing and its nice and deep just how I like it of course the deepness varies but even songs that Don't have a lot of bass now have a nice kick to them and I'm running two 10 inch kicker comp vr subs which are dual voice coil subwoofers and I have them wired down to 2 ohms and I'm powering them with a DB drive 1.5k monoblock amplifier it's 1,500 watts very nice compact size and drives them very well. @JasonWW20007 ай бұрын
60hz to 80hz is pretty common depending on the slope. As you go higher you start to get more vocals coming through. Its all personal preference, though. Adjust by ear.
@Zachecker7 ай бұрын
ported box will hit harder i had the same schoche and it was not the best trust me you will feel it in your chest better than the kicker. LPF stands for (Low Pass Filter) It just filters out notes above where it is set. its mainly for bass so if you have it on 80hz it will play 80-0hz without filter but anything above 80hz will be filtered out.
@TNG11Automotive7 ай бұрын
Got it will say the correct translation next time! 😁 and yess im sure a ported would be brutal 😳
@JasonWW20007 ай бұрын
Remember that the filters have a slope on it. Setting it at 80hz will allow 20hz to 80hz, then it starts reducing output at a 12dB slope. So it's still playing 90hz, 100hz, etc... it just reduces the volume of those upper frequencies. The higher the frequency, the more the reduction.
@TNG11Automotive7 ай бұрын
Higher frequency… meaning the 12 db ? or the 80hz ? 🤔
@JasonWW20007 ай бұрын
@@TNG11AutomotiveFrequency is how many times something moves per second. In this instance we are talking about how many times the speaker cone cycles or moves per second. So a frequency of 20 hertz means the cones moves 20 times per second. This is super slow and is very low bass. 80hz is the cone moving/cycling 80 times per second. This is upper bass frequencies. (40hz-45hz is the bass frequency most people like and is what most people think of when talking about bass) So frequency is like the tone or pitch of the sound. DB is decibels. This is how loud a sound is. It's volume level or amplitude. 60 dB is like a whisper. 75 dB is like normal talking volume, etc... So when you have a LPF (low pass filter) it's letting the low frequencies pass. If the LPF is set to 80hz then it reduces the volume level of the frequencies higher up. It reduces the higher frequencies at a certain rate. These different rates it can ramp down the volume level is the slope. A 6db slope is shallow and will allow more vocals to be heard (when set to 80hz). A 12db slope ramps down the volume of the higher frequencies more quickly. So less vocals. A 18db slope ramps it down even quicker. Almost no vocals will be heard. If you go into your amp settings and change the crossover slope between 6, 12 and 18 you'll hear the difference. Steeper slopes, like 18 and 24, can sometimes be better, but you really have to use your ears and choose what sounds best.
