You can wand plate a clean Iron surface with Copper without a power supply. Degrease the Iron, take a swab soaked in Copper Sulphate solution and rub it onto the Iron. The Copper is deposited very quickly in a thin layer which is ready for Nickel plating. I hope that this is useful to someone reading this. 🙂

Thank you for all of the informative videos! I am wondering if you know of a method to brush plate copper into carbon-bases ink ? is it doable with copper sulfate? Thanks

Thanks teacher. In connection to some HCL spill close to my mechanical shop area, it has suddenly started rusting many items including my 6ft lathe started rusting. I am planing for a wand plating method with sodium carbonate solution to work only on some areas of a big machine where it wont be easy for me to dip in a bath.

Hey Rob, I love your videos! Im wondering if this would work on the laser enduced carbon on Kapton tape? If so it could make for a good way to make the external contacts?

Dear Robert, could I use the violet cobalt chloride from cat litter to galvanize metal parts? Or could I use it as a colorant for vitreous enamels? Thank you

@Desmond Bagley you may be thinking of bentonite sand, but I mean silicon dioxide sand, which looks like coarse salt crystals and also has other violet crystals, which is precisely the one that contains cobalt chloride, and it serves As an indicator of humidity, I will carefully read your suggestions Thank you

I'm dreaming about a 3d printer using a big plating brush instead of the usual nozzle set up...to build a bronze sailing boat hull... wonder how long it would take... i guess the powder melting systems would be a bit quicker... one day...

Tried to order some conductive plastic from yourselves but out of stock. Four emails later regarding availability and still no reply. Don't think I'll bother.

I'm thinking wand plating is so easy it must have been known to the ancients. A few Bagdad batteries in series and some solutions, and you're good.
