The most frustrating thing for me is people thinking something is wrong with me because I choose not to go out and drink anymore, eat fast food etc. My mom gets angry with me when she asks if I want something she made and I tell her I’m trying to eat healthier. Very weird place to be in. Feel outcasted.

I agree man. I'm in this same situation. Once we get shredded then they will understand why we did what we did. And we are willing to do what others aren't to look amazing! Cheers don't sweat it keep going

I think there is something to do with the way people are used to something. Example, when you start changing your life and getting results people close to you that were associated with your old lifestyle or activities will start taking it personally if you try to change your own habits. It is not their fault or yours, I just think it is how it is and eventually if the person actually cares for you (not talking specifically about your mom hahaha) they will understand and support you! Keep moving forward bro

You can still go out with friends, just be present and not drink. Explain to them your goals. And just like what’s mentioned in the video, accept that there will be resistance or naysayers. As for the mom issue, what I did when I changed to a healthier diet is, I involved my mom in preparing the food that I want and need to have. Now, she also eats healthy and has become mindful of what she eats. It’s really frustrating if the people that surround us has a different mindset. What we can do is to let them understand then influence them.

I love this. Quit drinking about 16 months ago, left a 13 year toxic relationship, started working out in earnest again about 3-4 months ago. I’ll be 43 in a couple of weeks and am so focused on this transformation period. It’s a lonely process, so hearing that it’s ok to “disappear” for a bit is reassuring. Love your take on things, it resonates with me.

I think this is refreshing content. I am 51 and fighting hard to get back to my youthful body, after kids and hormone changes I cannot relent ever! I am on a quest for a comeback and defy societal myths about getting shredded at my age. I know this is geared toward men but this applies to women as well. A hard body is a hard mind.

I usually avoid motivational fitness vids, but this was a very genuine and inspiring take. I am glad you showed up on my algorithm. "If you don't quit, then everything is a lesson." hits really hard as well. Off topic, but I feel like you would do really well starting a podcast.

Eight years dealing with cripling symptons, its hard enough to pick yourself up without much problems but you know its hell when you try to get up and life shoves its boots on your face everytime. Finally ive managed to get out of this cycle, and i after all went through i feel like i have a super power. You are dealing with it, know that you can do it, you got this

that first bit is really good advice. no one is doomed to remain in their current circumstance. i've been a gym rat and powerlifter for almost 15 years and currently i'm on week 3 away from the gym due to a vicious case of very persistent tendinitis in my elbow. even with all my experience, that doom can set in fast and you need to actively realize hardly anything is permanent in life. my elbow will heal, i will go back to the gym a couple pounds heavier (because frankly i'm taking the time off to indulge), and i will get back to where i was and exceed it. no sweat.

I hate that I had to experience an extreme heart break to get myself to the disciplined state that I’m now in. I understand that everything happens for a reason and there was wisdom in this experience, still hurts. But I’m glad I can honor the pain and not let it have been for nothing by having learned from it.

This is great stuff Wanhee! Really respect what you are doing - And how you're doing! This is a huge need for men these days because the society we live in doesn't teach us how to get to a point of self-respect and intrinsic confidence. Thanks again!

The best advice you've given me is to just not think about it and eating right, working out and walking 10k steps being part of your life. If you're struggling to do something, think about how to make the task easier. You're a saint, Wanhee.

Definitely I'm having a comeback this past two months and reached a point where I'm feeling addicted to my progress at the gym even though though I still have a long way to go until I reach my goal state that I visualised. Thanks for the great content Wanhee. Best wishes and hope you're in an 'up' phase.

Thats what i set my mind on. The chapter or era part u said. I literally said to myself before i started this journey. Ive experience skinny. I looked like a match stick. Ive experience fat. Now its time for the jacked part. And here i am now. 2 months in. Already lost 10kg. From 115 to 110. And my shoulders starting to look good. Youre right. Its. Addicting. Edit. I am currently on the cave part. Only my family and close friends knows im trying to improve. I cut all ties outside them. And even at work i wear baggy. So noone can break my focus

Having a purpose other than "I wanna get fit" has been the key for me. For example, although a bit ridiculous, I want to get into motorsports and the team I talked to says that I should be under 85kg to make sure my ass fits in the seat and the belts can buckle up. So that's an actual concrete image I have of why I need to lose that weight.
