Want a Filipina? Looking for a Filipina? What IS a Filipina, and most importantly - what's wrong with Filipinas? Do the bad things about Filipinas outweigh the good? Today I'm going to do an interview with local Filipino men about the strengths and weaknesses of Filipinas, Filipino men's shortcomings, and their views on foreigner / Filipina relationships - and the foreigners themselves! If you're considering looking for a woman in the Philippines, and you want the real scoop, this should be interesting! @TheFilipinaPea

Thank you Pea for presenting such a thorough and eyes opening interview. Those three young and handsome chaps are very refreshing and really inspiring. They all display a genuine, considerate and very respectful attitude toward women and their Country traditions. They manage to be obviously cool, but also reveal so much maturity and common sense. They demonstrate that the Philippines is actually a very modern, proud and relevant great Country to come from and to live in. Of course, nothing is ever perfect. But their proud and honest approach does put to shame many “foreign” nations. And, consequently, may I say to beautiful Filipinas accross the land: “ When you have such meaty prime steak at home, why would you go for foreign hamburgers 🍔? On another subject, dear Pea, I don’t believe for one second that all three left the way they did! 😂 I could see the twinkle in their eyes, “discreetly sizing you up and down” while even more discreetly trying to cover their obvious instinctive “interest” with their hands … and who can blame them? You do raise attention across the globe gorgeous Pea! Don’t be so modest : Walk proud! 😘 and be happy! Viva Philippinas 🇵🇭 and our Pea! Mabuhay ang pilipinas! 🎈 🎉 Mabuhi ang Filipina Pea! 🎈 🎊 🥂

How about just don’t have sex and use your hand. I don’t like how they are responding to inform and inform discreetly. It’s not lack of education more than it is lack of morality. Morality and tradition aren’t the same I’m afraid of those twerk shorts. They have too much focus on sexualization. If the Philippine people are too down and out there’s nothing to offer anyone. They are the educated and authoritative ones of the country, and that’s how they are. It is sad. Men that’s only strong in their own gun shop. You can flip this in all nations where the men are conquer minded and not cooperative minded. It’s an ultimate failure.

Contraception is still a soar spot! I may have mentioned this before. One day I asked a 16 year old pregnant girl why she didn't use birth control. She replied: "The church doesn't allow that, kuya!" I said: "Well, the church doesn't allow pre-marital sex either, but that doesn't seem to bother you!" I mean ... honestly ... if you are going to sin anyway, you may just as well do it safely! :-)

Dumaguete is definitely on my list. I think you should do a video with these three guys and the three girls you interviewed from the province. The guys were great, very smart. I think a video with the group together discussing points of interest would make a fabulous video. One a side note... Adding the link in your part one video to the part two video might be helpful for the viewer. Your videos are amazing, and when I say that, I really mean that. I'm truly amazed at the quality and consistency to your amazing work. When I say consistent, I don't mean your content because that is always new and refreshing. Why aren't the mothers insisting that their sons take responsibility of their actions, instead of making excuses for them and why they choose not to support their abandoned children? One set of enforceable government rules would be welcomed but the social pressure from the family would be as powerful!

If he is capable of supporting, if with a new GF or a wife already, he will be controlled 4. The mother of the boy will not decide about marriage but only the boy will 5. The mother will decide if he is a mama's boy 6. Plain irresponsible

That conversation about contraception was had here in Canada about 50 years ago - the same exact things: education, shaming, gossip, product availability in stores, “corruption of our young people”, the whole thing. It has changed. Without casting too many stones, my bet is that the corresponding decline in the social and political power of churches, particularly the RC church, accounts for the changed conversation about contraception. It’s going rapidly backwards in the US, in some locations, unfortunately. Great episode and hats off to you and your guests, particularly their Academy-level acting at the end! Fun fact: Fertility rate of Philippines is 2.5 but dropping. At 2.1 it hits 'maintenance mode'. You're getting there slowly but, as you see with the west, it probably won't stop and you'll begin dying off and shrinking (like Japan is doing). Poverty? Look up the stated incomes and lifestyles of Seattle Washington in the USA, then watch the movie "Seattle is Dying" on KZbin here. I think you'll be shocked that, even with huge wealth and all the services & such we have... And you can do the same thing with other places like Spain, Germany, etc. (look up images of "poverty" & location). It's just not shown to you - it is better than there but it still exists.

What utterly amazes me, is the number of single mothers in the Philippines. So much poverty, and yet women are over reproducing. It's a vicious cycle from generation to generation. Even in America, it is a passed on generational behavior. The Catholic Church really needs to bless birth control. Abortion is an entirely different matter. I've been told by Filipina that birth control pills cause an abortion so they do not want to use. I have explained to them it is a hormone therapy and they still are taught that it is an abortion pill. Condoms are no fun!!! But yes necessary. Thanks guys for showing your hearts and minds.

They won't say "It is the Church, Church and traditions built around the rules of the Church and we all know which church don't we? And many otheers reasons the men have bought up. Your country needs to get with it when it comes to birth control it is a shame that these young people are bringing children into the world that can't be raised right. And still many others reasons. I agree with Randy Daugherty below, poverty is beyond control I cry when watching some of the video's I have seen over my years looking at them of your country Pea. And way to many rules about people not from there coming to live there. We from other countries have much to offer in so many ways and then it other ways we can and do so many things that hurt a country like yours. And like the boys said what in the world could one do about the trash it is everywhere. Enough said I love the country but at this point I don't see any real hope to change things unless major changes were made and many of them many of your people would not like them. The country needs money controls and more jobs, jobs and jobs. I pray for that area of the world all the time and it won't be long before China takes it all over anyway.

Very nice, thoughtful video. I found the part where they were discussing contraceptives to be especially interesting. These young men, including Pea, came of age during the Internet age. You can find similar young people all around the world, including Africa. They tend to be generally liberal, and sophisticated in their outlook to things. The trick, I suppose, is how to be like that while maintaining the unique charm of being a Filipino. It's not always easy to navigate the two, especially after you leave your native country. The second to last skit was intriguing to me because I've often wondered how Filipino men consider Pea who for all practical purposes is a Filipino-American. I know that a lot of Kenyans consider me too Americanized. This is a blessing and a curse. 😀

Regarding her ending script. The guys already know who the Pea is with, so even if it weren't a script they'd be smart to not intrude on taken territory.

I’ve always found it interesting that you see that in the Philippines and a lot of Latin American cultures how people are so conservative that birth control is either not used or in some places not even available, usually due to religious beliefs. These places are all predominantly Catholic, but they all have huge problems with single mothers, which shows that there is a lot of premarital sex going on despite their religious beliefs.

Once agin a great video. Religion that talks/sells tickets to the next world dictating policies in the physical world seldom ends well for women. As someone who got a 1st class education from Nuns, Brothers, and my Jesuit teachers, the fact the church has a problem with strong independent women in control of their bodies has had horrific consequences and is why religion is falling by the wayside among the educated. An sadly, church history is one of empire building, subjugation, and viewing women as second class citizens/handmaiden’s tale.

Women sleeping around, single moms. The reason more and more men in the US are not marrying, plus being with a single mom, the man will always be last, behind her kids, her family and the government... tough road I have done it and failed. Interesting two videos...thks

Why are there so many single moms? One of the reasons you didn't discuss is the lack of divorce laws. When I was last in the Philippines (pre covid) I met a lovely woman with 2 young children. I could see us getting married. Her husband had abandoned her when her youngest was 4 years old and had been 'single' since then. Because she couldn't get divorced, there was no way she could get re-married. I didn't even get into a serious relationship with her because of the adultery laws which could have put me in jail! That could have been one less single mom.

Some avoid single moms even though they may be highly educated and perfect 10s I’m guessing most expats are divorced and were once single dads as well Don’t miss out on your soulmate by following others opinions and needs. You’ll know the right one, kids or not.

Saying that, these guys are hilarious, I feel they are more “no holds barred”, and really speak their mind. I bet they are even more funny after one or two Red Horse beers. Or a bunch of San Miguels.

I am curious to understand, the options women have for birth control. -Does a woman have the option of refusing sex if the guy does not wear a condom? -Does a woman have access to plan B or other options of after sex birth controls? -Do woman have the option of abortion there?

That series was refreshing. I hear a lot of expats say Filipino men stare at them when they are with a Filipina. Give me a break they are probably looking at your pale white skin and big nose, lol Think about it. I could care less if an American girl was dating a foreigner. There R really not enough of us here to worry about.

Education is key to condom use. If a woman knew about the incurable diseases/viruses that come from not using condoms they would insist, (HSV2, HPV, PID, HIV just to name a few).

Or the education is just another excuse to encourage whoring around so that the nuclear family gets dissolved.... you encourage whoring around in society and in the school system, you are planting the virus to kill off families and being held accountable for poor choices.

@@cattywampusmcdoogle "...you are planting the virus to kill off families and being held accountable for poor choices." Too sad! When I was in grad school one of my rotations was in a STD, (now STI), clinic. I would examine men and women not only from our university, but from a Catholic school about five miles away. STIs and unwanted pregnancies were common every single day. My next rotation was in an abortion clinic and I would see many of the women I had seen in the STD clinic who were pregnant. I bet you've gone to your share of book burning parties. After all, education is dangerous!
