This video is designed for people who feel powerlessness about happiness. People, who feel like happiness is beyond their reach.
Happiness has become the new enlightenment. It has become the new heaven. An unattainable goal, a finish line that we keep chasing. There is a kind of shame that arises within us when we are unhappy. This is especially painful when we identify with being unhappy. Some of us don't have any idea what happiness really is, because we have never felt it. We feel like we "should be happy" even when we aren't. We feel the very worst about ourselves because we can't seem to "get life right and be happy like other people can". We begin to feel like we are karmically destined to suffer. This issue of attaching to happiness is just another branch off of the tree I like to call "trying to get life right". We believe that if we are happy, we are getting our life right and if we are unhappy, we are getting our life wrong. We are holding onto the painful thought that we should be happy, even when we are not. This reaction to being unhappy only makes us unhappier. So what do we do about it?
Teal explains that the best thing we can do is to Give up on happiness. The idea of giving up on happiness may sound very odd coming from a spiritual leader because it is the job of a spiritual teacher to teach people how to find happiness. But Teal asserts that many contradictory teachings are in fact quite complimentary; and that this is one of them. Teal explains that if you give up on happiness, you are releasing resistance to suffering and/or unhappiness. And thus, you are allowing yourself to flow in the direction of happiness.

What I actually did a week ago: I have a "vision board" on my wall. For weeks I felt so pressured looking at the pictures of what I want to have that I finally decided to take down all pictures. Now, there is an empty board on my wall (with some necklaces) and I feel a lot better now looking at it. I let go of all my dreams and I don't want my happiness to depend on whether I reach these things or not.

I know how you feel. What I do is write down the things I am grateful for every night before I go to sleep and then I write down my desires, things I choose to have or happen in my life. And when I am done writing my expectations (that's what I call them now, not goals) I always finish with these wards; "All of this or much better and I am fulfilled". The reason why I do this is because, I learned (learning) in my journey is that if for example; I am single and I now feel that I am ready for a loving relationship with a woman but, not just any woman. it has to be the one that lives a couple of blocks from my house. No one else will do. What I am doing by making these demands to the universe is, limiting its options out of all the millions of woman that could be better for me and as a result, my desire to have a lady in my life will take a lot longer to manifest or my not manifest at all simple because I am limiting my options to just one person. Those that makes sense? Also, if I don't end up getting what I had asked for, I get exited now (learning to) because I know that the universe is preparing something even better than what I had ask for. By doing this I am learning not to bet disappointed or sad or depressed when I don't get what I am asking for. I hope this helps....

The other day I saw a video of a handicaped young girl. It just blew my mind. It touched me so deeply how joyful she was. It made me question my own notion of happines so deeply I couldn't stop crying. I think for the first time in my life I TRULY realised how I neglected myself. And I was the one who felt handicaped in that moment.

You know, this is actually a VERY effective method of getting rid of depression, I believe. It reminds me of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, a form of thought-control that psycholigists/therapists use for drug-free healing of depredsive disorders. Wonderful job, Teal!

when my husband died I found myself in a world of contradictions, I was so overwhelmed I could barely breath. Of course "helpful" people were there to confirm my unhappiness and then to tell me "in time". Of course people do not understand that time takes on different qualities for the person in that space and doesn't mean anything. I hated that space and wanted out, but didn't know how to move. One day while sitting outside, I said, I need my yard to be filled with birds and their song. Instantly birds came into my yard and I cried tears of joy, I had moved! And I felt grateful and I breathed. I understand that the sadness is preparation for the happiness we are about to experience. Just look for the Balance, it is always there!

If you get upset from her words you are not processing her words properly for what they truly mean. Go watch her video on Anxiety by typing Teal Swan Anxiety and you'll see what I'm talking about. You'll feel sad/anxious at first but just let her words process and you'll slowly understand. She will help you through this necessary moment in life that everyone will go through. But some won't be as lucky to find her videos.

WOW! I know this is for short comments but Teal, you wouldn't believe the understanding I just gained from writing my first post. When my husband was dying, a flock of robins came into our yard and stayed throughout the duration of his death process, one robin sat on our window sill and never left his post. I had never seen or heard of this before. On my husbands final day here, all the robins left and I knew that he had to go. After he died, not one bird came into our yard, didn,t even fly over our yard. This is why I needed them to come back. I always wondered why this had happened with the birds. It was the vibration. WOW!

Practice gratitude on a daily basis, be mindful, don’t take anything for granted. Just having enough money to eat quality food is something that should make you happy 😃. Appreciate the things that most people take for granted, this a strong 💪 foundation for happiness!

Give Up on Happiness! - Teal Swan Emphasizing the importance of happiness adds unhappiness/resistance to unhappiness You feel shame, destined to suffer, inferior if you cant manage to be happy You hold the belief that you should be happy seeing happy as right and unhappy as wrong, which perpetuates unhappiness Thinking you should be happy makes you resist negative emotions, which make them persist Resisting unhappiness makes you desperately desire for happiness which you think you can not have because you focus on on unhappiness The solution is to give up on happiness Giving up on happiness makes you release resistance to suffering and or happiness Realeasing resistance to what you dont want allows you to flow in the direction of what you do want The universe knows that you want to be happy Everything you want is because is you want to be happy. The universe pushes you towards happiness arranging all necessary conditions for your happiness Expansion is achieved through your perspective and if you align with and experience your own desires Thats why the universe helps you to be happy always All of the various beliefs that perpetuate unhappiness like they were karmically destined to suffer - they turn us against that gale-force wind that is the Universe. They make it so that we are in a state of resistance. Tha accute absence of something makes you desperate need opposite you cant get what you want if you desire on the lack of it. if your desire for happiness and the awareness of unhappiness is too strong the path of least resistance is to release the attachement to happiness if happiness is not the goal, where you are can not be wrong because you compare the now not to happiness you cannot be where you are not if you dont want to go somehwere else you cannot unwant something/happiness but you can change your focus in a way that makes the now not unwanted the best way to to let go of the destination of happiness is to fall in love with what is, the NOW The only reason that any Being suffers is because they are currently believing a thought that contradicts what-Is. like the should thoughts thinking you should be happy if you are not, makes you resist the now and so you become even more unhappy stress is caused by resisting what is Embrace the idea that what happened *should* have happened and was supposed to happen. Embrace the idea that nothing can go wrong - that everything that happens to us is actually happening *for* us. If you dont have full control of your Vibration - what nobody has - things happen that cause us to feel negative emotions But when we don't have complete control over our Vibrations, and thus, our Point-of-Attraction, these things happen. None of us maintains our Vibration at a level where nothing ever happens to cause us to feel negative emotion. Embrace your focus to what is right now. with the intention of looking for what is right about it What is right about what is? Focusing on the positive things within the unwanted things makes you feel emotioanlly better and you change your vibration so that you can not match to the unwanted thing anymore Write in a positive aspects journal therefore Look for proof that what is is right instead of wrong Look for positives about being unhappy to release resistance to it find approval for unhappiness. Start to look at being unhappy as if something has gone right. How is it 'right' for me to be unhappy? Eg: Everybody in my in my situation would be unhappy - Unhappiness causes you to know what you dont want and therefore what you do want - it gives you clarity about your preferneces - it leads you to self exploration and self discovery and introspection, self awareness - it makes you connect to other people that are unhappy - it is grounding and makes you see important things - it forces you to move forward Set a goal that is more attainable than happiness itself something that is on the way to happiness like three moments of contentment per day, feeling of fullifllment one time each day set little goals and climb up the ladder the goal of happiness may overhwelm you and make you feel discouraged of it seems unatttainable Notice that happiness for you is a goal you never reach. The closer you want to get to it the further it goes off into the distance Realizing that you wont reach happiness helps you to stop chasing it in the future and find a contentment with where you are Enjoy the process of life instead of obsessiveley chasing the promise of future happiness Focus the feeling of relief which is always attainable, in every emotional state. Relief is caused by release Feeling guilty Angry thoughts make you relief because they release the attachment to guilt Vibrational increase makes you feel relief because you release a lower vibration Chase relief instead of happiness. You have only one option in all moments: Better or worse? Think, speak, act better or worse. Choosing what feels makes you feel relief and go into the direction the universe wants you to Choosing what feels worse feels like stress. Have mercy and understanding with your thoughts, they dont want to hurt you If you stop believing your thoughts they, if you stop validating them, they have no power about how you feel. nothing went wrong if you experience unwanted feelings. they are necessary to know what is wanted. Move in the direction of what is wanted and allow yoruself to choose to go int the direction of what feels emotionally better Striving for happiness makes you unhappy. Understand that happiness that happiness is not something out there which you attain, Happiness is an ever-present essence which must, instead, be Allowed ... Thanks Teal

I absolutely 100% agree with this and I know intellectually and experientially that what she is saying is true. As soon as you let go of something you really want it shows up almost instantaneously and its remarkable how often I come across scenarios like that happening in my own life. Time and again your videos and that of other spiritual teachers have had that excellent timing and resonance with exactly what I have been going through and thinking at those times and for that I am deeply grateful towards you and the universe. This is what I realize yesterday. When you try to reach happiness, you take a position of resistance where logically the subconscious mind interprets it as you are being unhappy right now. This is what happens when you are looking for happiness. The idea of happiness is not happiness and will never be. Surrender, completely, radically. No exceptions. Let yourself suffer. There is your happiness. But of course even this might caught you into the trap of looking for happiness. I wish you can understand this.

I can't believe how relieved I am to give up on happiness. All my life I desperately chased happiness and it got me to be in a state of lack like I have never seen. But now I understand, I will go into the direction that feels better, thus relief. Teal's teachings are making me feel that I live, because since I was young I don't remember what happiness felt like, I didn't understand emotions nor what they were. So, I'm very glad I chose to follow her teachings and believe in her and what she has showed in her KZbin videos, than the haters negative information. I'm proud of myself to be saying that I follow her teachings! I don't care what anybody says. I wish you to be always blessed and protected Teal.

I've just recently started to watch this channel, after a year of seeing Teal Swan on tiktok and KZbin, I watched bits here and there and always took away positive information. Recently I've hit rock bottom with my spiritual journey, I feel the pressure of this lesson that the universe so desperately wants me to learn and my god its been so hard, I feel like I'm losing, failing 24/7. It seems the deeper I dive the worse it gets... but honestly if it wasn't for being able to watch Teal Swan to help me learn more about my self and the universe these last few days I honestly don't think I would have managed. When you give up, you release resistance of what you do not want, which causes you to go in the direction of what you do want. This is something I have been working on, choosing happiness regardless if things happen in my favor or not. I'm not getting back to letting go

Teal, I really appreciate you and you have helped me more than you know. This is about surrender. This is such an important lesson on the spiritual journey. When we let go we allow the energy to move through us. Addressing those that say the message is contradictory to your usual teaching I see it as complimentary. This message is clear as day, it's not "contradictory", think about this a little harder guys and ladies. "Imagine this gale force wind has one prerogative and that's to take you to everything you've been asking for, to take you to that which is wanted, The Universe is this gale force wind." In other words, sometimes the route that seems most frightening, stressful, or painful, is the direction you are meant to go to achieve happiness (leaving your comfort zone, or what you thought was your happiness/security). This is her overall meaning.

When I'm at my worse, I come to believe I'm at my best, things are shifting, changes are coming. I've given up on happiness, I go with the flow, even in times of struggle, I can let it go, it's my choice, so happiness comes and goes, and comes around again. There are things I do not desire, therefore I make it a point not to associate with murderers and thieves. To define happiness is very difficult, everyone has his or her own preferences.

If anyone has ever heard of cognitive behavior therapy, this is exactly what I was told. It was odd to realize that my biggest problem was perfectionism since I saw/see myself as so imperfect. One of my favorites. Love her or hate her, when you get sick enough of feeling helpless, you reach out. I tried it (have to keep at it like a life contract) and it does make sense. It works. Not easy. Not magic.

For me its just to live and breath day by day,..what will come will comes after....but in 1 side am always keeping all these dreams positively into my head. Your thought become your reality. The thing is just to get deep into situation/thought,believe,trust and being positive. The universe will give it to you.

I think it's better to seek peace than happiness. Happiness is an emotion that comes and goes. Where as peace can remain whether you are happy or sad.

Just the video title alone is true. Especially in terms of detachment. Anything you detach from or stop fighting can drop right into your lap. It can drop into your lap or may even become unimportant.

I have testimony about positive vibes regarding vehicle breaking down. Hubby and travel across country for the last two years. Last year, A pipe burst just as we were pulling into a town to sleep in a hotel for the night. We were able to call a friend near by to help us and we fixed it in the parking lot if the hotel we stayed at. Later in the journey, my husband pulled into another hotel for the night. He came out of reception to see the tire was flat. We called AAA to tow it to get the tire fixed while we stayed at the hotel. We're about to drive across country again. I wonder what adventure we'll encounter this time.

Happiness is a perspective. You do not feel happy, you just are happy. Like you are not anger but you feel angry, and you can attach happiness to things to feel happy, but true happiness is being.

I couldn't have seen this at a better time... Feeling like so much went wrong this past week... including getting a flat tire, locking my keys in my car and my battery dying. Attachments to anything wether they be people or concepts like Happiness cause suffering and actually cause resistance to those things or people you want in your life, chasing progress and becoming the best version of myself mixed in but not excluding a healthy balance of releif, I feel gives me more fulfillment than chasing happiness which is a higher goal and purpose than a fleeting feeling.

I had that accident last year in February 2018 it took me a long time to understand why it happens, I know there was a reason but at that time I was so attracted to my car, my pride" the Ego was so strong Being without a car but me in a status of low self-esteem and comfort to get around You are an amazing Teacher always will be Love you :-)

From what I understand there are 4 forms of happiness. (1) Sensual Pleasure (food, entertainment, etc.) (2) Engagement (work, projects) (3) Meaning (contribution, helping others) (4) Self-Actualization (becoming aware of true self, and the mind). The moment I stopped trying to achieve something through my daily meditation practice was when it became quite fulfilling in itself. Prior to that I experienced much effort. You have so much knowledge! This is a great video, thanks!

The day I started watching her I broke down in an empty parking thinking I'd never have the life I want. I have literally wanted to die since I was seven, and now I want to live. In less than a month I have seen many positive changes in my life. I got a job, and one of my worst fears came true but it's actually not that bad. No matter what I know I will have the things I want in life.

After watching and listening to hundreds of hours of your videos, this one finally nudged something in my brain, ive just realised its the rsistance! ive been resisting so much lately that i dug myself into a hole, worrying about what i should and shouldnt feel, attaching myself to the shame and guilt, wow i can see how this is going to be a rocky road, but youve helped clear some of the fog for me, like the morning sun on a frosty morning, thankyou. x

So I decided to try this, not from this video, but from reading about the life of Keanu Reeves, who said "You need to be happy to live, I don't." And although he's a famous actor, he lives in a flat, alone, and appears to be sad most of the time. Upon first seeing his situation, you may think he's insane, but I thought it was actually really interesting, and I thought of what would change if I myself tried to live a bit like him. If I stop trying to be happy, I get so much more discipline. When I realize I should do homework, for example, my first instinct is "ugh, I don't want to" and then I say to myself, "I don't need to be happy to keep on living" and I just do it. In this mindset it's easier to take things slowly and methodically, and it just makes your entire life feel a bit easier.

I’ve had my life on hold for so long I have been trying to just survive and make a home for myself - Ive accomplished that out of a bad situation without really giving myself any credit for that - I’m understanding so much and needed a good dose of a reminder I’m in such a good place but my heart yearns for my future I’m not fully taking in the greatness I have now

Focus on what is ,with the intention to find out what is right about what's happening right now. Focus on the positives inherent in the negative things. Positive aspects journal? Where you write the situation and them point out positive aspects. Believe that everything happens for you. Start to look at unhappiness for why unhappiness was the right thing. Unhappiness cause you to strongly know what you don't want therefore exposing what you do want. Strong desires =big expansion. Unhappiness =self discovery, introspection/self awareness, arts, grounding to see what really matters, forces you to move forward to get unstuck. 3 moment of contentment a day. A feeling of fulfillment at least 1 time a day. Focus on relief/release when you're feeling negative emotions. Ypj always have a choice between better or worse throughout the day and your life. Ask if your thoughts are true or not. Go in the direction of what feels emotionally better.
