Hi Ben, truest statement ever, the perfect vehicle is the one you already have, it was a renault clio sedan, 10 years i had that vehicle and i bought it from my father, amazing vehicle, made me travel and know a lot of places i didnt know about my country (Chile) and Argentina but it was struggling in remote places, so almost 6 years ago an opportunity came and i sold the clio and bought a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder (R50), and 4wd changes everything, i felt even more motivated to go off the grid, no fancy modifications, with time a 2 inches lift and AT Tires, the rest is standard but i did invest in recovery equipment (no winch yet) and keep it mechanically impecable, almost 270.000 Km and going strong!, i will keep an eye on that book when it releases (and i hope you write a book of this adventure too) and i hope when you get over here eventually, at least i can share a cup of Coffee!

There's nothing more satisfying than being prepared for a worst-case scenario and finding that your preparation was justified. Thanks Ben - good video! 👍

After years as a now ex-Adventure Tour, Camping Tour, and Overland Adventure Tour driver I still learn more every day be it a weekend overnight trip to months away. My vehicle is just sitting outside my front door and waiting for spring to come in a few months time. Until then it’s time to finish my bed, wiring and the other odd things to be finished enough to get going. My best tip when travelling Overland is to make sure that every item has two uses/purposes . Like a Spade to help with recovery and dig a hole! (That’s my Business) 😂 I’m just not planning to cut the lid off my Troopy and use the money to be on the road more/longer 👍

That’s a great tip to help keep weight down when you’re packing! I also think it’s great to look at how often you use a piece of gear to decide where to invest more money. I’d rather spend more on a camp chair because I pull it out on every single trip!

Hi @@BenStinnett Yes and also thinks like a Puffer Vest instead of a Puffer Jacket because if it’s Cold outside wear the Vest with a Rain Jacket over the top for warmth and windproofness. Plus instead of two different weights of sleeping bag have one lightweight one for most of the weather conditions you are inspecting and wear the Puffer Vest inside your sleeping bag to keep warmer. Have the sleeping bag unzip so when it’s extremely warm you can just throw it over the top of you open like a duvet . I’ll stop there. There’s too much knowledge in my brain and it’s too damaged to get it all out at once.

Something could go wrong. May be, could be but must not. You know me, my experiences with Troopys over the last years in heavy terrain, deserts, sand, rocks, and the most horrible mud in Spain. We walked right into the trap, neither forward nor backwards, mud like ice😢 in a steep slope and drop sharply, no turn round. What to do? The only possibility we had was going backwards the steep slope in this muddy track. Thanks to the Troopy, she was like an animal. And that is why Troopys are so reliable in difficult situations. Greetings and much fun from Germany from my 78 TLC.

Mud can definitely make things so difficult! I can’t imagine tackling a steep slope backwards in mud! Sounds like it definitely made things interesting 😅 thanks so much 🙌

As always, another good video, this one, had lots of good advice and was full of very thought-out ideas. I can truly say it's always a pleasure to sit down in my arm chair ( sorry Ben 😅 ) and watch your videos. I've only been out once this year in the 4runner for a four day solo trip just because of being so busy and having back issues, but when I see your videos it inspires me to get back out there ( damb you 😅😅 ) thanks for another great video Ben, be safe out there.

Hi Ben, love your videos. Make it easy and start where you are. Travelled a lot in the last years through Scandinavia, Italy, France and Austria with my Citroen Berlingo. Planning to get away from the main roads and move to an 4wd to enhance the possibilities to reach locations which are not so crowded. Btw, I registered on your website through your link but didn't receive your book preview. Would be happy to read /review your 1st chapter 😊 br

Are you running wheel spacers with the wheels and what wheel specs do you have on there. I’m wanting to get rid of my spacers on my troopy
