With some deep holes. The alien race survives in world one but not world 2, time never altered in world one, only world 2, if they had succeeded in eliminating the aliens world one would be quite different going back in time. Multipole universes, multiple worlds. Lots of holes

This show is absolute proof you don't need a big Spielbergian budget and jaw-dropping special effects to create riveting sci-fi. I just completed season 1 of this, and I simply can't went to dive into season 2. Arguably it is a very distant adaptation from the source material, and it could easily have been given a different and original title in order to make it its own thing, but none of this is bad. The show, in my opinion, is compelling and not to be missed.

This was a really good series, people that say this is bad or if there was a lack of action, their attention spans are just so low that they don't appreciate character building and the bond you feel with them as the series goes on. Pretty much every episode felt very, very suspenseful and tense with a lot of bittersweet moments. It's definitely worth the time to watch it if you're big on being immersed in the world with the characters portrayed. If you're here just for a "Aliens attack humans, either we win and blast them all or humans go extinct", you won't be satisfied.

yeah, "war of the worlds" is really a misnomer in this show. very soon it becomes obvious that what they are dealing with aren't aliens. like, somewhere in the middle of the first episode. the only thing similar to war of the worlds is the initial attack, after which it becomes, literally, story about human stupidity. it's actually fun, cause everything they do is basically digging them deeper and deeper, and at some point you realize, we don't need aliens nor god's intervention, we will be the end of ourselves

You'll never get the hours back wasted watching another bad television/movie version. Save yourself the effort and time and read the original H.G. Wells novel set in Victorian England with 12 and 14 pound artillery weapons facing off against heat rays and chemical weapons. Everyone knows the ending by now but the story as told in the novel is still enjoyable and enlightening.

Was really hanging out for this and to be honest i was expecting a modern take on the H.G.Wells novel. Curious why it's called _war of the worlds_ , they could have titled it Boston Dynamics Vs. Nothing actually happens and believe you me Im open to story pacing etc. but this is awful.. and you are right, I simply dont care about any of the charachters .... poorly written, such a pity.... big yawnfest.

On a side note, recently enjoyed a series called 'Black Summer' (netflix), similarly, while you're unable to see grand character arcs and get closely attached to individuals (due to how the series is structured), they compensate this with relentless pacing and as each of their situations unfolds, how they respond is demonstrated _(dare i say)_ as relatable? realistic? and in that way, i feel somehow more involved in the action. Not saying it's perfect. - That's just my 2 cents worth. and i'm personally sure to be ready and waiting for the following season. Stay well folks, Peace.

Intriguing. At times haunting. My concern is how many character stories have already occurred and too much focus on their individual "angst". I'll keep watching if it moves to a survival/fighting back story and doesn't devolve into a soap opera.

The recent BBC adaptation was one of the worst things I've sat through in recent years (and that is saying a lot) Sad to say this looks just as bad. The budget just cannot cope with what is needed for an epic like this.

I am enjoying this but (especially season 2) has little connection with the original story anymore. The aliens are now in human form, it's like "Walking Dead". Groups of people fighting and killing each other to horde resources and stay alive. They should have just given it another name, and not tie it to the H.G. Wells story.

Why is it in films or series like this end of the world scenario the one person who understands what's going on and maybe save civilization hasn't got time cause his or her son or daughter is 5 thousand miles away and maybe still alive even though everybody else is 100% dead. And they find them and ride off into the sunset together as the world falls apart..
