Hello Mela and Don, I am a retired bus mechanic with 34yrs at Trailways and Greyhound. I would like to point out a potentual problem with your alt. hook up. At 16:26 in your video I'm looking at the main alt cable and the support bracket off the back side of the alt., the insulation where the cable contacts the bracket is close to worn through which will ground that cable out and could burn up some electrical components and could cause a fire. I came up with an inexpensive fix that I installed on a lot of our buses. What you need to do is take that gold colored clamp loose by backing out that long bolt and cut a piece of 1/4 inch thick plastic that is an inch and a half by two inches and drill a hole for that long bolt to go through and put the plastic between the cable and clamp and the support bracket as an insulator.

Loving the video: Very outdoors and exploring. And the history. Keep on believing and finding a place. Funny when you have a break down. Change of plans happen, then you find the unexpected place. Nice". Regards from South Africa 🇿🇦 😀.

It is getting to be very expensive for you. I really hope that your long journey will be faultless with no more bus problems.

it is a good idea to carry a spare set of fuel filters and a wrench to replace them.

Absolutely! Now that we’ve learned of this problem we have spares and will check regularly! 🙌

Don, Mela nice to find a good mechanic not wanting to be a parts changer and hope it works out. We just completed a 7700 mile cross country trip (California to Virgina round trip) I was pushing it on my almost 9-year-old tires, but they still look like new and wanted to say look into Sumitomo tires. Just purchased our second set ($ 3,250.00- 275/70/22.5) and they are much cheaper than Michelin or Toyo.

So funny I remember that tiny home that was at the Organ Mt's area. I still have to find that area you are staying at. When I look for it the GPS always takes me to the office area. That Trailhead is usually pretty busy when it comes to finding a spot there. Dripping springs is a good place to be. I have a sticks and bricks home out here the Organ Mt.s convinced me this is a good place to have a home base.

Glad you guys will be back on the road. I would highly suggest looking into Toyo tires, they are great quality and great value compared to other name brand tires. I was able to get tires for my coach and it was around 4k for them.

I can't believe it was chilly out there. The beanies and jackets tell the tale. Glad you found a fairly good spot too. SOOOOO sorry about the bus, BUT I'm glad that the mechanic is doing his process of elimination starting with the less expensive items first, and who knows? It could be the result of a combination of the things he's eliminating. Hair looks nice. Always a relief! What a fun restaurant and town. I need to make it out to Las Cruces. I had a friend in college who was from there, and she and her family liked it. I feel like I owe it to her to see the place she loves. Need to order my merch. It looks really good, PLUS, I know people will ask me about it which will let me tell them about you guys and your diy and travel adventures! ;) I mean, the "two stars" part, not the best but it could be worse. Crossing my fingers about the shifty issues. Better days comin'!

I feel for you. We have about $10,000 in a maintenance fund, which we can use for breakdowns, repairs and preventative maintenance. Ours is an 8-speed manual gearbox, which are usually cheaper to fix but not as durable as an automatic transmission. Our biggest issue is that Australian national parks don't allow us to bring our cats into them, so we visit them in the car. Loving your videos. Nat and Don
@Rehabit84 ай бұрын
I find that so strange! Why no cats? Can’t you just keep them inside?
@doncoleman49384 ай бұрын
@@Rehabit8 That would be the sensible option. I think it's a blanket ruling as feral cats killing our native fauna is a big issue in Australia. But a ruling that states "No cats unleashed" would be a better ruling. We went to a Big Rigs motorhome get-together over Easter, and of about 50 motorhomes, probably 5 travelled with cats. More popular than I first imagined.

I would suggest you look into putting a FASS filter pump set up on your bus. I have one on my 2000 Monaco Dynasty that I have been full-time in for five years. I waited until after I lost my injection pump. I had plans on doing that mod, but waited too long.

A good episode would be a “behind the scenes”. It’d be great to see all the people behind your awesome videos. The shots are magnificent of the destinations even the shots of the bus eating up the scenery. The animal trainers which get those awesome shots with the kitties. Dating back to the bus build the cinematography is excellent and keeps us glued to the channel. Just an idea. Keep the wonderful videos coming.
