I was with my friend and his wife . They were looking to trade in their car for something better.... we sat for quite a while. My friend had already gave up his keys to the old car so they pull it around for assessment . The wife wanted to get something from the car and the salesman refused to let her. My friend said " Give me back my keys. we are done here!" Lesson learned don't disrespect a man's wife.

For future reference it's a good idea to do the following: 1. Inform the used car manager (or whoever is looking at your trade) that your car keys don't leave your sight and that you will ride along in the car if it needs to be driven. The keys will be returned as soon as the trade assessment is over. If the manager doesn't agree to that, don't continue the deal. Leave. 2. Bring both sets of car keys so that you have a spare just in case.

Al Hendrix Toyota in Florida now by Boca Raton should be on the wall of shame, they had 7000 on the top of their cars. Super pressure to buy got there the car that we were supposed to look at. They said it got sold 15 minutes before we got there, Bunch of crooks 11:04

I was just at a dealership in Illinois trying to buy a used car, and they said they have a $ 1985 Dollar Dealer processing fee that is MANDATORY, tacked onto the Asking price of the car.... by default. They Said, "Everybody is forced to pay it"....

Miami Dade Auto Mall tried the "credit application before the test drive" move.

We in Switzerland do not have these problems. All cars can be configured ONLINE, which includes everything like additional warranty period. Such warranty periods are not offered by the car dealer, but the car manufacturer, for example TOYOTA SWITZERLAND, which offers for all new cars a warranty period of 10 years. Then I would print out my configuration and pay a visit a the car dealer ship. Price negociation is easy, either its cash or lease for max 4 years and max 40000 km approx 27000 miles. Insurance and maintenance are not included. The maximum interest rate is limited by our government to 15%, which applies for all consumer goods. Whats on top of the car price are pprox usd 600.-- for getting the car registered, petrol tank filled, insurance organised car cleaned. I would experience a hassle free purchase, but I stick with my 22 years old Avensis Avensis Liftback with 2 Liter engine and 98000 miles on the clock. I love this beauty with an torque converter gearbox.

Hey guys car salesman here. The only time I’ve recommend filling out a credit app before looking at cars is when my customer specifically asks to see what cars they qualify for cause they know they have troubled credit. It doesn’t do them any good to have them fall in a love with a car they don’t qualify for because of either troubled credit or to much debt. No need to waste their time and the sales reps time. Other than that not all car salesman especially this newer generation of sales reps (like me) are bad. I actually do care about my guests and make sure I do my best they get a great deal 😃

This happened to me twice in Illinois. Toyota and Acura dealers. They told me it's a way to prove that I am who I am. I told them that my state given ID counts and I am not giving them any permission to check my credit . I also have my own bank approved loan. The loan part I told them after we agreed on a price. The bad toyota dealer was in Lombard, IL. Not hard to know which one. They tried to tack on other fees which they install on all their cars. "Paint protection".

Classic Ford dealership in Smithfield N.C. I was hired as a salesman early in Jan. 2023. And after I quit after a week and a half. The finance guys purposely raise the total over $1000.00 after doing exactly what you’re video shows. And they won’t sell you the car. They expect you to sell yourself the car while all they do is play in their phones and only nod those heads they have with the occasional Hmmm-ummm . They care about how much money they can take from you but not you. Don’t take test drive. Because if you don’t like the test drive. Finance bully’s come in and argue why you should buy it while trying to get more money. It’s very deceptive and forced at that dealership!! My experience was shared on the review.

In Houston area, Ford dealers are asking for Booking fees of $500 for cars that are in shipment, but if you decide not to buy the car, they are saying the $500 are non-refundable.

The new car prep is done by the service department and is paid for by the factory. The used car reconditioning is part of the used car check the dealer does on all the cars before they are sold and the costs are already covered from the value they bought the vehicle by either trade or auction. That's why they buy for wholesale and sell for retail.

I had a salesman once try to convince me that their half a percentage point higher financing was just as good if not better. "Really, a half point doesn't make much difference in the monthly payment and this is a big bank, not a small town credit union. You don't have to worry about them going out of business.". Yeah, right. Have to admit though, other than that one bit of silliness the dealership wasn't a bad place.

Last month I purchased a 2021 jeep grand Cherokee from Mercedes Benz of Lakeland Florida which is a fields group dealer. with 29000.Miles I payed out the door 27000 which is what they were asking for. I put a deposit on a new Corolla this week. I was in and out in a half hours' time. I would say the trick is to be persistent, do all of your homework from home (not at the dealer), use a credit card for a deposit (in case things go south) and use a combination of sources (Edmunds, this channel, True Car, websites of the manufacturer, etc). In my case, since the Corolla is in short supply, I got it for MSRP with no added fees. The vehicle is slated to be produced on 11/6/2023 and I should take delivery by the end of November. Fingers crossed that it goes smoothly.

A Chicagoland Dealership on the BBB site a Buyer stated they had a SIGNED agreement to purchase, by the buyer and the Salesman. They put down a Deposit, and only a couple of days had passed. The buyer showed up to purchase the vehicle, and the Salesman said they had sold the car because someone had offered more money for the car. Now he is having trouble getting his deposit refunded. How does a Car Dealership sell a car out from under a signed purchase agreement with a named specific VIN # Car ?? That seems to be really deceptive.

I’m embarrassed to admit this but my CRV that I bought October 2nd cost me $58,221 OTD. $3k over msrp, doc fee $499 which is ok i guess, $2995 accessory fee, $995 appearance fee, $1995 dealer maintenance fee, and $3345 Honda Care, $4084 sales tax which is ok. I’m an old dude and I should have brought someone with me because I didn’t read the fine print in the finance office. I managed to get a $2700 refund because after reading the contract I freaked out and called them and I canceled my dealer maintenance fee and Honda Care but everything was such a hassle. Also, when I got to the dealership the sticker was nowhere to be found on the car and a test drive was never mentioned which is my fault. I later saw the sticker which was in my contract folder and it said $48,270. I would have walked if I saw that. Live and learn. Findlay Honda, Las Vegas. Buyer beware.

Thankfully the dealership I just bought my new car from did not pull anything like this. They did have an addendum adding $2995 of insurance products but I told them straight up that I would not pay for a dime of that. Not only did I not pay for that, but I got $1000 off sticker and a $500 rebate. You just have to hold your ground. 2023 Bolt EUV Premier.

Excellent! This is close enough to the conversations I have had at dealerships. Liz politely refuses to go along with unfair requests. "This isn't a customer survey, it's a credit application." I need to know the OTD price before I fill out a credit application. You don't need to know my bank's interest rate, just give me your best rate. This is deceptive advertising. Be especially careful of the "If I do this, will you do that" questions. If I get you the price you want, will you buy the car today? You LIED! You wasted my valuable time! You aren't buying the car! You didn't get me the price. That's irrelevant, you LIED! (This last one actually happened to me.)

Love your videos as I am currently brushing up on car buying skills for my mother in law. This video reminded me of when I was 23 back in 2003 and went to Downtown Ford in Sacramento, CA looking for a new car. They didn't have anything I wanted and I asked if they can contact me when they found something. They said I had to fill out this paper that included my address, social security and birthdate! And that was just to "find me a car". I said heck no thats crazy! They tried reassuring me they are legit because they sell cars to the Sacramento Police Dept. I said nope, I'll go somewhere else! I did give them my number and they actually called me in a few days with what I was looking for but I said I'm not doing business with you!

Great video. I always thought they wanted the credit info to see if you even qualify to finance a vehicle. We did that in the Army with potential applicants. We'd "Pre-qualify" them before spending hours upon hours just to find out they're not qualified because of law violations or medical issues. You have a "Wall of Shame". Do you have a "Wall of Excellence"? A list of trusted dealerships? I've bought many cars in my life and found most of them are pretty snakey. They all Nickle and Dime you to death, or at least try to. $499.99 Doc fee really pisses me off 🙂

As far as I'm concerned, when it comes to warranties, the only one that I would consider are the manufacturer's factory warranties. Even these aren't perfect, but at least it's a manufacturer and not some warranty company of a dubious nature. By the way, I would really like to see professional unbiased reviews on at least a few of the car dealerships in the Las Vegas and Henderson areas.

when you go to buy a used Hyundai at the Dealership... All of the original Car Warranties are VOID from the original purchaser. Mazda doesn't do this.... we were informed that Mazda will honor the years/mileage no matter who owns it.

You didn't cover or address but the biggest mistake prospective customers make is engaging the sales staff too early. Take a look around, see if the markups are on the sticker, what accessories added, etc. That will give an immediate idea on those first two "conversations" about how things will go later on. Better to check out the dealership on Sundays when they aren't open.

Most Blatant Bate & Switch ever! I went into Hyundai Carson (Carson, CA) after seeing their online ad for a 2023 Palisade priced at $27,075 for a few days. Immediately I was told that that price was a print error they knew about & was working on fixing. {They knew for a few days???} I asked for the sales manager who offered to rectify the error & offered me a"big reduction off the true price - $48,000. Needless to say I walked out & a few hours later the $48,000 price was online. I have the screenshot of their ad. Do I have any recourse?

I'm curious what you think of test drive agreements. I went to a dealer to test drive a used Accord and they wanted a copy of my license then my insurance. Fine and understandable. But then they sprung a contract to test drive. I just wanted 20 minutes to run it up the highway but they insisted so I walked out. Seems like just a way to trap someone, "just buy it and we won't have to charge you for that dent we insist wasn't there before". Is this becoming common?

try this at a Rolls Royce dealer. you're not driving a car before they find out if you can even afford it. even Honda dealers did this years ago when the S2000 was for sale. I guess they didn't want people joy riding and would not allow a test drive without first demonstrating you either had the funds or the credit to buy one. also, every Toyota sold in the southeast USA has added accessories from the distributor - they won't remove them. dealers also will NOT remove "doc" fees from their sales contract. I've been making offers on vehicles for over 2.5 years and no dealer will remove this fee. if you want to buy a new vehicle, you have to give the dealer what they demand. I'm simply not going to give them what they want. I'm happy to keep that money in my pocket.

What if I go to macdonald and i add fees such as putting hamburger and fries in the paper bag fee, filling your soda in a cup fee, processing your order and accept payment at the cashier fee, extra ketchup fee, and dining in fee. How much is that going to add to your happy meal??

They already have extra ketchup fees in some McDs! But I still like your analogy, why do I have to pay an extra fee for you to do the paperwork to actually sell me the car! I don’t get it it’s like the bank that tried to charge me for extra deposit slips! I told them the day I paid anyone to put money in the bank wouldn’t be anytime soon, and that I was willing to close the account immediately. They still had to ask several others before coming back with a stupid reason but when I explained that their assumptions were wrong they gave me the free deposit slip I requested. And yes, I did shop around for a better deal after that ordeal.

Tallahassee Ford does the same thing as Clermont. So does the Ram Dealership. In fact I believe almost all Dealerships in Tallahassee are doing this.
