Scotty Kilmer I have a 2001 Toyota celica with way more problems then my 2001 1500 Chevy Silverado for one the celica has a broken speed sensor that is hard as hell to get to with my big hands. the front passenger side wheel bearing is going out and the thing smells like exhaust is somehow getting through the firewall probably because of all leaks and holes in the exhaust system/headers. And to top it off, I can’t see how many miles are on my celica or how fast I’m going because it’s connected to the speed sensor it’s a 5 speed btw.. but my truck runs drives perfect and no smells the only thing is the tumbler is messed up so it takes a little time to start her up. Other then that in my opinion I should’ve got a Chevy first instead of a celica.🤣

If you had morals you would disclose to the buyer that the AC system had a problem. In this case trading in is the best solution so you don't have to deal with that. Trade it in and tell the dealer you want maximum value trade in for you to be interested in a transaction and in this current economy they would likely agree.

Is this a common issue? Our 2015 2500HD didn’t have this problem. We traded it for a 2020 Prius prime because our needs changed but I don’t know if I would say the Silverado was bad. Of course we only had a WT trim but $40,000 wasn’t bad for a half ton worth of capability with 4x4, limited slip differential and snow plow prep package (just came with it we didn’t use it as a plow)

There is actually a much easier way to replace the evaporator, takes about 45 minutes and then money for parts. It involves taking the glove box out, and then cutting the box that holds the evaporator with a sawzall, removing it and replacing, and then plastic welding it back together. Of course though, he's a mechanic and they all rip you off. If I was this person I would be doing it myself.

I needed a truck for the winter [Chicago] last November. I'm disabled so it's important not to get stuck; a truck fits my bill. Found a '11 Chevy Traverse at a car lot. Looked really clean [which it was!!] and didn't have oil leaks that I could see. 125k on the clock, I wanted to drive it before anything else, why waste time needlessly?? Guy got the keys, we jumped in and got ready to go. Engine started right up, all gauges read proper, pulled out and drove. Holy cow!! I couldn't believe I was driving a Chevy!!!! 3.6 V-6 with a 6-speed, this thing got up and moved! No race car, but impressive. Cabin was VERY quiet, no squeeks or rattles.......AT ALL. Drove straight and true, stopped the same. Everything worked and worked well. I bought this Chevy on the spot. I still have to remind myself almost every day that I drive a later-model Chevy. I did put in a new battery about 3 months ago. That's it. Not even a burnt light bulb. Here's the thing= I think this Chevy was BUILT correctly. From day one. The original owner took good care of this truck, you could see the love where ever hands would touch; clean and like new, almost! I really think it's sad what the General has fallen to. That my truck is the exception, instead of the rule. PS My A/C blows cold, too!

Your absolutely right about poor design, but gm is not alone and you should know and state that. Ever since they started increasing the angle on the windshield on cars and trucks for aero dynamics, they moved the evaporator for the outside to inside the car. The increased angle also caused the need for air bags because people were smashing their foreheads on the windshield. New evaporators are made with thinner walls to increase efficiency and so fail more often.

I have a 2000 Silverado 1500 (only 135,000 miles) (4.8 regular cab long bed 4×4) automatic transmission and it still runs tip top and blows ice cold AC! I did put a little money into a few things when I bought it 4 years ago with 105,000 miles. Brake pads and rotors, tires and shocks all around, U-joints, then put a remote start, tinted windows, Tonneau cover. Idk man despite the low miles it's still a 20+ year old Chevy and still going strong. Not much rust either and I live in Minnesota. I take care of her and she always gets me home.

I was a hard core Chevy man but GM put a stop to that by disappointing me with my last 3 GM products. I had 2 impalas and a Silverado and they all had some ridiculous problems. The impalas had to have a new fuel pump that cost around 1000 about every 2 years, all the air vent actuators starter clicking and had to be replaced. All the tire pressure sensors went out along with the wheel speed sensors. The Silverado main problems were fuel pump, transmission and air conditioning.
