Sharing A Joyful Life

Күн бұрын

Was it a mistake for baddaddy to let us move in? Is it a burden? Does he have regrets? In this video, I ask him these questions and more to satisfy the curiosity of followers. In case you were wondering, baddaddy and I were married for 18 years, and we have been divorced for 16 years.
Welcome to our page! We are an atypical family dedicated to sharing a joyful life alongside things like autism, blindness, complex medical histories, and mental health disorders. We hope to take some of the mystery out of what it is like when special needs children grow into special needs adults. This life can be good. Beyond challenges and frustrations we find even more joy, entertainment, laughs and good times.

I think people in general find it hard to believe that divorced people can be friends. Being divorced doesn't mean that those people are not still your family. I have a very similar relationship with my ex. I don't live with him, but we do go on family vacations together, attend all of our grands sports events together, and do all holidays together. Hard concept for some people to grasp, but it works for us too!

I am so glad I came across this video! I came across your channel a couple weeks ago and some from 3 or 4 years ago, recent ones and I was so confused about Badaddy and you Val. It’s so awesome to see how y’all get along. 💚My ex lived with me for many years and then he moved next door. Stones throw as it’s a mobile home park. He lived there for nine years before he passed away. Jess is so on the ball! She carries on a great conversation. Better than some people I know with no disabilities or challenges. Also, I have to say, Baddaddy is very handsome. 😄

I think personally, it’s pretty obvious in the videos he is in that baddaddy loves having the family there. His interactions with Jessica and all show it. It’s awesome how you all work as a family and handle situations. Love this style of q&a.

Bad Daddy hit the nail on the head about living alone for years, but missing having other people around! While I appreciate my alone time as an adult, it would be nice to have my family humans around for the companionship, and for help, when I need some motivation to get projects done! Kudos to y'all for having such a great relationship!!

I can't even believe the nerve some people have to actually post these comments. I am impressed that you can address this in good spirits even though you don't owe anyone these answers. On a side note...I have never noticed until now how much Hannah looks like her daddy. Especially when she smiles. ❤

How sad that snarky people don't have something better to do with their lives. It's beautiful to see the blossoming relationships, and actually Jessica 's blossoming relationship with her dad! Redefining relationships is always ongoing for EVERYONE as we all grow and change. Think about the changing relationships we all have with our children as they grow up and we as parents age! Snarky people are energy zappers!

Your family is one that all divorced families should strive for. What a healthy, loving family unit. I have divorced parents who get along wonderfully and what a difference that makes for the entire family structure! We enjoy life moments with both of them without any stress. This is lovely to see. I'm shocked that so many people have such nasty personalities to post such terrible things.

Your family, even though you're divorced, has handled the situation beautifully. I'm sad that Val and the gals moved out. It seems like you all get along so well. No one should be casting judgement on your lives, though. If anything, you're such a great example of how people should behave following a divorce. It's obvious BadDaddy loves you all.

As others have said, it’s really nobody’s business but yours. I do admire how you’ve all come together to make your living situation work so well and create a very positive, healthy environment in which Jessica is flourishing. As all 3 of you have caregiver roles I can imagine that each of you appreciates the support network within the household. I wish you well as you navigate your daily life together and share in the joy of the poodles and the kitchen shenanigans (your meals look super tasty!). You are an awesome family!

I don’t understand why people would have opinion with this situation. Regardless of you and Campbell’s relationship, you are family. Why wouldn’t Campbell want to be a part of his daughters lives! I think the situation is fantastic for everyone! You guys are really lucky to have this relationship, and Jessica and Hannah are super lucky to have you and Campbell as their parents! Love all around!

I’ve seen a lot ableism in your comments over the years and since you’ve moved back in with Campbell the sexist comments started. You’ve told us many times that you worked as an RN for most of Jessica’s life. Campbell was not the sole provider for your family. The fact that people doubt Campbell’s sincerity and that they think he is soooo virtuous for being a good parent while you are seen as a burden…gosh people have a really low view of women. It’s really sad that these ideas persist that people are not inherently valuable, that love cannot be shared freely, that platonic partnership isn’t real, that we have to earn our place and earn our keep. For heavens sake, you’re just a family being a family. There doesn’t need to be any score keeping, nobody needs to earn their keep

It’s not just being alone in a big house versus now having two dogs and three humans, but having four people who feel safe and trusted and confident together, camaraderie and familiarity and shared memories and even shared blood. When people are in a home together, no matter the relations, there needs to be trust, respect, kindness. Y’all have all that in spades. ♠️♠️♠️♠️♥️

This was a wonderful video to watch/listen to. Not only are you, each, devoted parents to ALL your children, you, each, have developed an encouraging, trusting and loving relationship with your beautiful daughter, Jessica. It warms my heart to see how your family has ‘reblended’ into a ‘one home family’. Whether married or not, your family functions, loves, and respects more than many, many married couples, or even divorced families. What you share has so many incredible ‘layers’ . . . -Raising/living with an adult child with disabilities. -The family dynamics of a family with a member who had disabilities. -The day to day life of a wonderful family. Good days, in between days and low days. Your family always makes my day, when you share a post/video. Thank you, for sharing your Life with us. ❤️🙏🏻☺️

It made me smile and laugh along to see the two of you laughing at some of the assumptions. :) I can understand people being curious about your living situation as it is somewhat unique but it's unfortunate that some jump to negative conclusions when they don't understand things rather than just asking. You've always struck me as being very open to explaining and answering questions in general, it seems to me like people should sense that and ask questions instead of assuming. Especially odd that some seem to assume the girls are burdensome to him or essentially invading his space when they are his daughters. He does come off as very kind and accommodating but not weak or spineless...and none of you ladies come off as overbearing to me at all so I don't see how people read it as you forcing anything on him. Odd how people can have such different takeaways from watching the same content.

Val I love that laptop stand, I've never seen anything like it. Then I noticed your haircut, wow!! Very fresh and bouncy. I personally feel that anyone who was a fan of your family's before you moved could easily see why this arrangement is completely healthy and good for your family. Campbell always came over to your house almost daily to help and hang out. Jess still needed sleepovers at dad's house. It just makes sense.

My parents did this for us after they got divorced and we still to this day have Holiday meals and Birthday meals all together as a family with our kids and grandkids! My parents are in the late 70's now. Of course people always said it's so weird that your parents get together for Holidays and things. It was the norm for us though. I think you guys are great. You are all so supportive and accepting of each other, which is so cool. That's something a lot of people struggle to find. Sometimes people can't see past their own lived experience.

People are forgetting that Jess and Hannah are Campbell’s kids! Of course a father wants to be around his children as much as possible even after they are grown! It’s hard out there now and many families are living together or generational living together because it is more cost effective. I don’t think it’s weird or odd or anything. I don’t even think you both had to make this video because as Jess would say this is “Nun-Ya” as in None of our Business! ❤

For one Val, your hair looks amazing! Very pretty haircut/style. Second, everybody loves BD!! I think a lot of the questions come from seeing a very loving, supportive, functional family and the curiosity (although none of our business) of why the marriage ended and is not renewed. We've all seen marriages far less than your current state of whatever you are. People are always rooting for love and when they see two people so compatible it's hard to wrap around why it's working "this" way instead of our own little "ship" vibes. Everybody always wants mom and dad back together and happy again, so yeah, it's like that. We're like come on already Ross and Rachel!! I think that's most of it, some don't articulate it in a nice way bc the medium of anonymous posting lends itself to saying things in a way you wouldn't in person. And rarer still, there's the unfriendlies. I personally enjoy your family and your real life on goings and the way you work around and with some of the specific challenges you face. Thanks for sharing and God bless!

I think the way you All work together as a family is Amazing ❤️we do kind of the same thing at our house with my daughter And her son, which leads to many people wonder. Why does she live with us when actually she is such a help and we all lived together, not her living with us we all live together. I think it's silly that you have to explain it But I truly understand because we do too have to explani lol I just know I enjoy watching you all together and think what amazing job you all do and we love you all and love watching you.

Val, when you move I hope it will be near bad-daddy. I’m afraid that will be a sad day for him. Better yet, sell bad daddy’s home too and and continue sharing a home. It seems financially beneficial for both of you.

What a humble and beautifully kind man bad daddy is ❤ I love the way you all enrich eachothers life in so many different ways, I will never cease to be stunned by the rudeness of people that feel that because open your heart and lives to us that it give them the right to be so dam rude and intrusive into your living arrangements, these people make me ashamed to be a fellow human and I apologise on behalf of the "handful of ballsacks" that feel the need to interfer with your private affairs... I love watching you all, I love the way you love eachother but most of all I love the way you go that extra mile to ensure Jess is always put first and looked after in the best possible way. Please know you all lift me and make my day complete ❤❤❤xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I lost my husband after 40 years of marriage October of 2022. He was only 68 and passed from brain cancer. All I want to say about this video is, and people may say it's none of my business but I think you two are cute together and I feel some chemistry😉

I’m sorry for your loss. My mom passed at the age of 67 in 2014. My parents were married almost 47 1/2 years ago when my mom unexpectedly passed. My dad just passed August 2022 after fighting Parkinson’s dementia for 5 or so years

I love your family, and this is a good video to straighten out what a few people might think. Good job. BTW, is that a massage tool that is between the bookcase and the wall? It looks like what I have, and I just love how it can reach behind the shoulders, etc. for those hard to reach aches and pains.

Awe, I'm sorry you HAD to do a video to address these types of questions. But it was fun the way you did it and put people straight and shut down the ding dongs making assumptions about your lives. I love the lives that you all are building together to support each other and Jessica.

I’ve been absent for a bit. Oh how I enjoyed this video. Frankly it’s no one’s business what y’all do. I understand there’s people that must insist they poke their noses at what y’all are accomplishing since being in a public forum but I’m happy with knowing just what you guys want us to know. I’d love to have you as neighbors and friends any day. Thank you for sharing ♥️

Man, I love y'all and the whole dynamic. My ex-husband & I have become very good friends. And I wouldn't mind sharing that arrangement with him at all. We have an adult autistic son who needs some extra support and would benefit from that arrangement.

Can I just say as a parent of an almost adult (18 in a few days) asd son, I find it odd ppl would ask if Jess dad tolerates her in his home. As if a parent of any kind at any age tolerates their child or as if it’s not home to Jess as well. My children all of them always have a place with me in my home if they want or need and I love them and enjoy every moment I have with them. Tolerating them is never on my mind.
