@@ShadowofGod616 In skill he was supposed to be equal to Dooku on even ground according to Yoda six months before the Clone Wars ended. However, that doesn't take Dooku's age into account. The Count was a good thirty years older than Mace and by the end of the Clone Wars Dooku is showing his age as well as the onset of Darkside Degradation(When someone uses the Darkside it is too much for the body and over time it poisons the physical in exchange for the energy power usage). He's confirmed by Lucas and others to be weaker in RotS than he was in AotC(even his choice in attire in RotS is to showcase his fading power as it is a lighter shade of brown than his bold dark outfit in AotC according to the RotS visual guide and BTS dialogue) So I do agree that Windu would defeat Dooku by the time of RotS, not out of skill alone, but in large part due to Dooku himself getting weaker in power and stamina. A battle between them would be an impasse for a time, but fatigue and age would eventually break the deadlock and that would be the end for Dooku at that point. Dooku still outclassed pretty much everyone but Sidious, Yoda, Mace and Anakin in terms of pure power even by RotS he's still in the top four most powerful in the galaxy and top two for pure lightsaber skill.

It should also be noted that, Dooku was said to be the BEST Swordsman of the Jedi Order before he left, it was said he bested Mace Windu during Sparring Matches and was the go-to instructor for Swordsmanship training. Sidious > Yoda > Mace > Sidious > Dooku > Mace > Obi-Wan > Anakin > Dooku > Obi-Wan Crazy how that works. Dooku can beat the guys that beat the guys that can beat him. He beat Mace back when both were Jedi, but would likely lose, albeit in a very close fight, against Sidious, who got beat by Mace due to Vaapad. Dooku also beat Obi-Wan with incredible ease every time, and Obi-Wan beat the man that killed Dooku twice. People need to understand that they're all roughly on par with each other at this level, divided by their preferred style. Makashi does incredibly well against Soresu and Juyo/Vaapad (Obi-Wan and Mace's style), well against Ataru (Yoda's style), but poorly against Djem-So (Anakin's style).

I mean, if you think about it, Mace's lightsaber form was mostly only useful against the lightsaber forms of a sith; But Dooku spent his whole life using a jedi approved lightsaber form, and it would be stupid for Dooku to change it that late in life when he is already a master of a very powerful and precise form. The lightsaber form has very little ties to the dark side, as far as I know, because of how calculated it is. To be that precise and calculated, you need to remain calm, which isn't the way of the sith. Dooku, although he has the powers of a sith, does not fight like one. He doesn't even seem to use rage at all in his lightsaber duels, rendering Mace's form all but useless. The best chance Mace would have to defeat Dooku is if he managed to distract Dooku or make him use rage, but that's not easy to do with the likes of Dooku because of how focused he gets, and how calm he seems to remain. It's like nothing can shake him.

Mace Windu didn't ONLY use Vapaad. He was simply the developer of that form. Mace has shown impressive form 4 and 5 styles in Gendy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars TV show. As we know, that's how Anakin defeated Dooku on the Invisible Hand.

It's weird! Yoda trained Jedi for 800 years, lived 900 and did not encounter a Sith until Sidious late into the plot. Mace is far younger than Yoda but achieved a position that Dooku did not achieve in the Jedi order. Mace developed a technique with no Sith to train/practice or develop yet, Mace (according to George Lucas) defeated one of the best dark side users ever! Regardless of form, a Sith is still a Sith and uses the Dark Side of the force!

The only problems I see with this is that Mace didn't ONLY use Vapaad exclusively. Dookus weakness in Form 2 Makashi lies in that it cannot build offensive momentum against an aggressive form like Form 5 as used by Anakin... In Revenge of the Sith, Windus form is described as lighting fast, unpredictable strikes...taking inspiration from a many tentacled creature from which his form is named...if I remember correctly. Vapaad is capable of overwhelming defenses as was shown in the fight against Palpatine who was said to have mastered all 7 Saber forms. As adept as Palpatine was...if this was true, he would have defeated Mace with the use of form 2. This didn't happen and he was clearly a better duelist than Dooku. I'm sorry, Dooku loses this one in my observation...

I think dooku absolutely dismantles mace tbh. I really think the precision of dooku beats mace’s using one’s fury against them techniques. And dooku is fast as hell imagine him trying to just poke you with his lightsaber over and over again, it’d be hard to defend against that. And if he’s able to fend off anakin and obi wan, in a one on one fight I’m sure it’s even easier for him to thrive.

I'm not so sure myself. The problem for me with saying Dooku would win is that the point of Form VII, especially Vaapad, is to turn anything about your opponent's style against them, and in part by feeding off of their energy/fury, but also in a way their approach. That's why there's often a psychological aspect to it. It's also why Vaapad isn't studied by most Jedi, because of the difficulty of this form and it's ability to cause falls to the dark side. Granted, Form II would be the hardest to go after in this way, but Dooku himself (arrogant, unflexible in many ways) can be taken advantage of. I'd see Mace letting Dooku get over confident, then throwing off his rhythm in the fight before forcing Dooku to fight in a way that was less Form II and more form III and I. Then, Mace would win. Maybe I'm overstating the power of Vaapad, but I honestly think it's just the best form, but also almost impossible. I also think Form III ultimately has the best chance against VII

Mace would still win, he was the best when it came to fighting darksiders because of Vaapad, but he was also able to beat any other Jedi besides in dualing as well. Plus the one time Dooku and Mace came across each other during the CW Dooku literally ran away from Mace. Also Yoda once said that Mace had surpassed him in accomplishments for his age. Mace was also the youngest Jedi to be on the council prior to Anakin, and Dooku wasn't able to accomplish this.

Makes sense. Not only did Dooku never fully turn (bruh even got regular eyes most of the time), but Dooku is also a very calculated, cunning, and relatively calm person. Also, he has confidence in his style but not to the point where he is arrogant like Anakin, and he's very skilled at it. It's a very refined form and honestly it's just way too calm for Mace to take advantage of.

Mace is the most powerful Jedi of their Council of the Time due to him being the most Dangerous even compared to Anakin (Who hadn't yet mastered his own spontaneity). Dooku was a master of Form, no doubt, and his own form too, but Windu was a master of Formless and he could control it. He was one of the very few Jedi who could organise ahead, plan and give orders while engaged in combat in battle. Even Yoda takes a break from battle to strategize often than not. Windu's weakness was being placid to the leadership of the council like a lamb. The Survivalist in him made him see through the Chancellor - though late, he acted. He always had his suspicions but was too placid and Council-docile to act upon it. Yes, He would defeat Dooku.

This doesn't really prove he would defeat Dooku. Dooku is the best duelist in the prequel era. He's seen multiple times fighting in lightsaber duels, and coming out on top, or forcing a stalemate in an unfair fight. He has loads of experience dueling actual opponents. Mace doesn't have very many feats in canon. He fought Papaltine and won, which is impressive but there's nothing else besides that. (For lightsaber duels In canon.) Even though Mace beat daddy Palpatine, Mace's form was a direct counter to Sith users. This is probably the main reason why Mace won. In S6 of the clone wars, Dooku fights Obi-Wan and Anakin. During this fight, he forces Anakin on defense, and Obi-wan on offense. By doing this, he directly counters their forms, which allows Dooku to fight them with ease. You can see from this scene that countering a person's form in the best way to beat them in a lightsaber duel, which is how Mace beat Papaltine so easily. So personally, I think Dooku would win. And like your comment says, Mace is a great jedi. But his lack of feats when it comes to dueling forces me to side with Dooku here. (And before you say, Dooku ran away most of the time, which I KNOW HE DID. In fairness to him, most of the fights were really hard. I mean, who ELSE could fight a 2v1 against Anakin AND Obi-wan, and not die? In a battle to the death. And Dooku mostly ran away because he was very old, so he got tired easily against 2 opponents. He should be able to handle 1 opponent. Windu is more creative in combat, and that is formidable to a Form master any time. His fallibility is in him being a sheep to Council protocols. In Attack of the Clones, Windu had Dooku in Geonosis during the event Anakin, Padme and Obi-wan were to be executed; and without being noticed. He had Council Orders to arrest Dooku not kill him.

He is in battle plenty of times in the clone wars, and I agree he's skilled, but he isn't in many lightsaber duels. Mace is like Plo in the clone wars. Plo is said to be a very skilled and powerful jedi, but we never see Plo in combat, so it's hard to determine how powerful Plo really is. This is the same for Mace, which is why I think Dooku would win, since it's easy to see how powerful Dooku is. I do agree on the Mace show. I was hoping tales of the jedi would focus on many characters we didn't get to see much in the clone wars, like Mace, Plo, and other jedi we didn't see much. Sorry to bust the bubble, but actually I’m really happy to do it. In order for Jedi master Mace Windu to become the grandmaster of the tire order temporary Lee. One of the major requirements is to defeat master Yoda in Lightsaber combat. No we all know master Yoda is able to gain control over his dark side yes even he has a dark side. But he chooses not to use it because he immersed in cell in the power of the light side. So that means mace Windu light side ability is equal to the other if not greater bare minimum. This also means Mace was the first Jedi ever defeat Master Yoda. PLO Koon was the 2nd. What’s more, mace Windu never successfully officially successfully used Vapaad until he fought Palpatine. This means in his skills with a lightsaber in the light side of the force was equal to Yoda or slightly stronger. This is something that no fan has ever talked about because they have a biasedness against Mace, specifically for reasons I don’t need to talk about. What is also overlooked is that mace Windu struggled with the dark side with himself so he gained mastery over the dark side something Yoda couldn’t do. He turned it into a technique specifically to defeat any Sith Lord or Darkside user. The final nail in the coffin that will expose this.. is The hierarchy of power display and specifically reference by Master Yoda in revenge of the Sith. Only Yoda and Mase were the only two Jedi in the universe were strong enough to contend with and defeat Darth Sidious. Master Yoda told Obi-Wan Kenobi he was not strong enough to fight the emperor. Kenobi and Skywalker are equals in ROTS. With very slight stats of Anakin being stronger physically. Despite popular opinion Obi-Wan Kenobi is no weekly, and is vastly OP. But people do not see that aside because he favors The defense of fighting form 3. Count Dooku with the Jedi within the time period before Anakin’s birth & arrival to the Jedi council. Count Dooku is technically still a Jedi master win master Yoda appointed mace Windu as the grandmaster, for a short time. Call me crazy but why would Yoda you the position of grandmaster to a Jedi master who is weaker the one who’s physically qualified to do or Count Dooku? Answer because Count Dooku was not strong enough to defeat master Yoda in combat. Mace Windu was, as well as possessing many other qualities of an esteemed Jedi Master. What’s war, Anakin Skywalker was able to fight count Dooku to a standstill in the light side of the Porsche only as an evil. It is only in the moment of when Anakin Skywalker tapped into the Darkside did he gain a power strong enough to defeat count Dooku. Mace Windu did not need his Darkside ability to defeat count Dooku he was already stronger than him in the light side of the force, point blank period. Inflatality, mace Windu was much younger but gained a level of power much faster because he was a truly the most gifted Jedi in the entire order. And he trained relentlessly more than a Sith Lord. You have perfect peace and balance within body my spirit and soul. It’s so why he was usually emotionless because he represents a perfect balance of light and dark energy. In closing count Dooku was not on mace Windu‘s level. Might I add, Mace Windu legitimately defeated Darth Sidious. This is backed up by George Lucas the creator of Star Wars.

Mace was a good fighter but mostly trained to use the enemies power against them. Plo Koon as well was an excellent fighter but was stronger in the force then mace. I think that he would remain calm during fights and be actively using the force while fighting. He was able to use force judgment which was weak but that does signify he was extremely powerful in the force. Not only that but he also had the ability to manipulate his surroundings. He beat Yoda in a duel despite yodas expertise in every form. Anakin and maul said he was a great fighter. Anakin himself considered him to be an equal, and he beat dooku pretty much single handedly. So I think Plo would win. Although dooku is a very good duelist

They both stalemate unless it becomes a drawn out battle, then Dooku would lose due to having far less stamina in his older age than Windu. While Vaapad is definitely more effective against Sith, it doesn't mean that it just doesn't work anymore when against a person who isn't reliant on the dark side. The form would likely keep Dooku on his toes and unless Windu made a mistake or got over confident I genuinely can't see either winning without it being a dragged out duel.

Mace Windu actually mastered all lightsaber forms, since Vaapad is an amalgamation of all other lightsaber forms. This means that Mace Windu was also a master in Djem So, which is a hard counter to Dooku’s use of Makashi. So while Mace would not be able to use Vaapad in it’s fullest extent against Dooku, he would still be able to out-skill Dooku in terms of lightsaber combat.

I've been saying for years that Dooku would beat Windu. Dooku wasn't just a Dark Side user without much real dark immersion, but he was specifically trained in the one lightsaber form that is meant to counter other lightsaber wielders. Not only that, but Darth Plagueis feared Dooku when Dooku was a Jedi, claiming that Dooku could out-duel the younger Sidious and even Plagueis himself. Now, I get that was before Palpatine reached his peak, but it still speaks volumes about Dooku's skill with a lightsaber.

As someone who has studied many historical forms of sword fighting and all of the forms in starwars, I can say that Vaapad would win against Makashi. Makashi is based entirely on saber fencing (I mean the type of sword not a lightsaber) this is because Christopher Lee was a fencer and wanted his character to be as well, while fencing techniques worked great at dismantling Anikans wild form (during AotC) and breaking down Obi-Wans mostly defensive form it wouldn't do well against Vaapad, it's basically a mixture of Kendo (picture a samurai) and traditional Viking sword fighting. Picture the precision of the quickest katana but with the force of the biggest battle axe... that's Vaapad. Dooku has one of the best dueling abilities in starwars but Mace Windu might have the actual best.

I think people always forget that in lightsaber duels, especially in this era, forms matters massively. Like Obi-Wan losing easily to Dooku yet countering Maul & Anakin with his defensive form. But Windu vs Dooku is pretty much 50/50 imo.
