It’s time for a strange Patreon request for season 2 Ring Of THe Hawk. Marty JANNETTY and is completely forgettable run in WCW. He did fight some greats but at the end of the day he was just there to bolster WCW at a time when they had just launched their second show Thunder.

Shawn Michaels really wanted to go to WCW at one point. I wonder what could have happened had WCW gotten both of them. I mean, Shawn mainly wanted to join WCW because his Clique boys were there. However, maybe if they got both and arranged things right maybe they could have reunited The Rockers and then have Shawn turn on Marty at some point to join the nWo kind of like how the American Males and Steiner Brothers split when Buff Bagwell and Scott Steiner, respectively joined the nWo. Obviously, there was no way in hell Shawn was ever going to be let go from his contract by that point and he and Marty were PROBABLY still not on the best terms at that point. Just throwing out a potential scenario.

A Rockers reunion in the late-90's? That would have never worked. By then Shawn was one of the biggest names in all of wrestling. Marty hadn't done shit in singles and was considered to be a joke by that point. I hate to say it like that, but he was nothing more than enhancement talent. Plus you think Shawn would agree to reunite with Marty? The WCW fans would give two shlts about a Rockers reunion. That would be like putting Jim Neidhart back with Bret in WCW, pairing a main eventer with a lower midcard.
@HWJASURY
@HWJASURY 2 жыл бұрын
@@butchvito yeah I know things fell through in real life between Shawn and Marty. I don't believe it would have ever happened, at the same time, I wouldn't put it past WCW to do that because they were more than happy to bring in former WWF guys if they thought they could even a fraction of attention they got in WWF. I realize that did happen less as nWo became basically synonymous with WCW and they started trimming things down a little such as the VK Walstreets and Big Bubbas. Even still though, in WCW's later years we still saw Warrior, Neidhart, Bulldog and even Ahmed Johnson show up in the latter half of the Monday Night Wars. I realize I Rocker's reunion may have been out of the question even if they did get both men, but I could at least see someone in WCW potentially pitching it.

@@HWJASURY And it isn't like it NEVER happened. They had a "one night only" reunion versus La Resistance in 2005 (Shawn even purposely botched the kip up spot during the match, so as to not embarrass Marty when he botched it). He made on and off appearances through 2009, usually involving HBK.

Marty was always a great wrestler who seemed to hate himself because he screwed up every opportunity he ever got. It’s a shame, was such a fan of his when I was younger.

I think part of Marty's issue was that his he always looked like he came straight out of the 80's, his in-ring gear was always terrible whereas Shawn just looked like a million bucks as the HBK.

It seem like Marty Jannetty was stuck in the 80's with his attire. He got that I'm a 80's party animal vibe.

I actually like Rick Fuller. He looks cool to me as a big guy wrestler and I love to created him in Wrestling Game :) To be honest WCW Midcarder or Jobber actually have a unique looks and characters (Like The Gambler). I miss a lot of them as time passes and wonder what happened to them ?

The Gambler was actually decent outside of WCW when he wasn't a jobber. Being a contracted jobber in WCW was not a bad gig, they were making $50K+ a year in the 90s. Local Jobbers were also making more than a weeks pay at their full time job in 5 minutes or less.

Jannetty was talented in-ring. Especially that match he had with Angle. I just feel like he didn't have the right character. It felt like he was just Michaels' former partner instead of his own gimmick.

@@SuperPeterok I know everyone hates this point but 80 percent of the roster was huge back then small guys didn’t get pushed as much so Marty was done from the get go, making a living as a successful tag team was his best chance there’s an interview we’re he tries to convince hbk to go to wcw with him That’s the problem with wrestling today they have the legit smallest scrawniest looking wrestlers I’ve ever seen it’s unbearable to watch
