It was a finishing sequence FFS does anybody here (who actually train MMA, not these armchair analysts and keyboard warriors) understand how difficult it is to control a target when youre trying to finish a fight and your adrenaline is sky-high? Volks head was bobbling and that makes it even greater difficulty. Makhachev started with directed shots to side of head (completely legal) and in the process a couple strayed away when Volk was out of it. Had they been grappling on the ground and still and Islam repeatedly struck the back of the head that’d be one thing. Good grief people with the excuses. Give Makhachev his 💐 already - finally.

It was Conor McGregor that fueled these allegations of Islam Makhachev using illegal strikes to the back of Alexander Volkanovsi’s head, talked about how this “dirty Dagestani” fighter did this intentionally and must have points deducted for that. And just as quickly he made his vitriolic comments, he then deleted the post, that being the only way for him to keep attacking Khabib, even if it’s through Makhachev. Before Islam’s & Volk’s first fight in Australia, once again McGregor advised Alex, (and immediately deleted it), to be as stocky as a bowling ball and head butt Makhachev hard to the sternum. (An illegal move in the UFC). This guy is definitely not funny anymore, and he’s rhetoric isn’t even close to being that to promote a fight. He’s a psychopath, that is still obsessed with his loss in UFC 229 against Khabib, who won with relative ease, in a decisive fashion that doesn’t require a rematch. Anyway, Makhachev-Volkanovsi 2 was a great clean fight and both fighters praised the other for the high quality of their fighting IQ, even if Volkanovsi didn’t get his way. As fight fans, lets keep Conor McGregor’s vitriolic comments and attitude as far away from the sport as possible

Islam had the option to beat Volk with punches to the face, instead he took the easy way and punched him hard on the back of the head. If you really pay attention you can tell it was the 2 punches to the head that made Volk fully unconscious and then came the follow up shots to the top of the head. Yes there's motions involved,but there's always motion involved. Is not about making excuses, i could care less,i don't know any of these guys. But in my opinion there should not be elegal shots whether is a finishing sequence or not. We have seen it time and time again when a guy gets rocked hard, almost to the point of passing out, but the punches the his face didn't do more damage than it was already done and instead woke the f...up ,recovered and continued fighting. None is recovering from punches on the back of the head.

What are you not understanding? The rule is: No shots DIRECTED to the back of the head and to either side below the cranium down the centerline. Perfectly legal except for maybe one, but again it’s in motion. At worse that’s a hard warning, maybe a point deduction, but none intentional, and it’s in a knockout sequence.
