Had a terrible experience with wasps as a child, and still have a very strong phobia despite knowing the irrationality of it. This content, although it sometimes makes my skin crawl, has helped me understand and fear these (still gross and horrible, but interesting nonetheless) creatures less.

I also have a wasp phobia. I use these videos as a pseudo exposure therapy. It’s actually working! Watching a minute used to make me want to puke. Now I can get through a few videos!

You should fear wasps, they are very agressive in general, some of them have very painful stings and if you have an allergy, you can easily die on a swarm attack.

Are the (young) queens able to sting? If yes, aren't you afraid? Vespa crabro stings are painful at minimum, but can be fatal even (I'm sure you know this and more).

6:13 Looks like they might have chewed the outer sheath off of that romex wire going through there. They might want to have an electrician look at it to see if it's damaged or shorted.

It appears the wasps actually chewed the outer sheath, and indeed the inner insulation off the conductors in the romex. It's amazing it didn't catch on fire. I all it would take is 1 wasp in the wrong spot to short it out.

You're a brave guy. Amazing how resourceful and smart the yellow jackets are. Had a nest in an interior wall adjacent to a fireplace and had to spray up from the crawlspace and also drizzle the pesticide down electrical cable to get to the nest.
