WATCH: 2020 Democrats speak Spanish on the debate stage | 2019 Democratic Debates

Former Texas congressman Beto O'Rourke was the first presidential candidate to show off his Spanish language skills on the first night of the 2020 debate in Miami -- a city where many voters are Latino and bilingual. New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker followed suit, talking in Spanish about how border policies violate human rights. Moderator and NBC Anchor Jose Diaz-Balart posed another question to O'Rourke in Spanish, and former Obama Cabinet member Julián Castro left voters with a closing statement that began in Spanish, too.
