Abraham was Saved from Idolatry
About 2000 B.C., God called Abraham away from all the idolatry of Babylon. Abram lived in the Ur of the Chaldees. Babylon was also known as the realm of the Chaldeans. Abram was an idolator. He worshipped the images of the gods of his land. God saved him from that idol worship. Listen to Joshua:
Joshua 24:2-3 (NKJV) And Joshua Said To All The People, “Thus Says The Lord God Of Israel: ‘Your Fathers, Including Terah, The Father Of Abraham And The Father Of Nahor, Dwelt On The Other Side Of The River In Old Times; And They Served Other Gods. 3 Then I Took Your Father Abraham From The Other Side Of The River, Led Him Throughout All The Land Of Canaan, And Multiplied His Descendants And Gave Him Isaac.
When God saved Abram from idols, God led him into the Promised Land and gave him the nation of Israel as his descendant. But a thousand years later, in the ninth century B. C., Israel had returned to the same idol worship Abraham had been saved from, under the influence of wicked Jezebel (see 1 Kings 16:30-33). At this time, the cult was worshiped under the name Baal.
By the time of the prophet Jeremiah, the idolatrous worship of Babylon’s religion, Abraham was saved from, permeated the nation of Israel. Please turn with me to Jeremiah 44.
Jeremiah 44: The Queen of Heaven’s
Idolatrous Religion
The words “Queen of Heaven” are found in five verses in the Bible (Jeremiah 7:18; 44:17-19, 25).
In Jeremiah, we are introduced to this whole idolatrous form of worship.
Do you know where the Queen of Heaven came from? It came right out of Egyptian idolatry, Isis and Osiris. It has nothing to do with the New Testament at all. And if you have ever heard that Roman Catholics say the Queen of Heaven is Mary and wondered where that came from-look at these words in Ezekiel 8:12-16.
The prophet Ezekiel is taken by God into the temple, the house of God, and he sees that there are idols there, and God is very unhappy. And to see what is offending God so greatly, he’s shown this scene:
There it is, the idolatry of Babel exported to Israel: the worship of the virgin goddess in Jeremiah 44 and the worship of her son as they wept the 40 days awaiting his resurrection in Ezekiel 8.
Semiramis, Lent
& Romanism
Let me give you some interesting details from a book entitled, “The Two Babylons” by Alexander Hislop. The worship of Semiramis throughout history has often had these elements:
• Semiramis was called the Queen of Heaven;
• Semiramis was worshipped by the offering of a wafer or cake;
• Semiramis began the practice of 40 days of weeping over Tammuz before the feast of celebrating his resurrection.
• These mystery cults around Semiramis also had purgatory, which they taught, believed, and adhered to.
The worship of Mary as the Queen of Heaven and the 40 days of Lent for her Son has no basis in Scripture but instead developed from the pagan celebration of Semiramis’s mourning for forty days over the death of Tammuz before his alleged resurrection-another of Satan’s mythical counterfeits.
Most of those who call themselves Christians today follow a way of worship that would have offended the apostles and early saints. What do I mean?
The statues of Mary, calling her the Queen of Heaven, the images of Christ and saints, and all of them being revered with candles and incense burning before them are idolatrous.

Idols referred to a things or person that we considered as God, like for instance you love money more than God, even loving ourselves more than God, love of power more than God, loving our celeberties idol more than God etc... by loving something in exchange of God is idolatry. That's why Jesus taught us detachment from worldly things because we are in this world but we are not of this world.

Many are also arguing the Trinity now, well, I guess they always have been, but I'm just now starting to see it. It's very hard to be on a pathway via your own personal relationship with God, scripture l/Gospel reading/study, prayer, Holy Spirit guidance (not having been raised in a Bible teaching church so have no specific doctrine drilled into my head) and then you start to hear all these different debates and arguments. 40 days is often used in Scripture, Recall that Jesus went into the Deset to be tempted for 40 days? The "40 days of Lent" commemorate the 40 days of Jesus in the Wilderness/Desert. The Hebrews spent 40 yrs wandering in the desert. It's used many times. Lent has nothing to do with Babylonian Religion and is followed by Anglicans and others as well. Our understand of Scripture always needs to be tested and contextualized. Do you celebrate Christian Easter? Lent is a season of preparation for Easter.

I was expecting this to be about some new one world government religion Satan is building for these last days. Instead I heard about a religion which has been around since the time of the apostles. A lot of this is basically outlined in Hislop's the two Babylon's which has basically been discredited by all competent historians. As an example the bishop's mitre which you are indicating is similar to that used in the worship of Dagon is a modern style and has gone through many styles in many regions from the 13th century. There is no evidence that there is any link to the pagan headdress. Also it is shameful and sacrilegious to relate Mary the Mother of Jesus to Semiramis. To do so also forces a pagan association of Tammuz to Christ which is blasphemy. The observance of Lent was instituted since apostolic times with a fast prior in Holy Week and the days prior. These were of varying lengths. The council of Nicaea in 325AD made reference to the 40 days of Lent showing that it was an established custom at that time. Pope St. Leo (d. 461) preached that the faithful must “fulfil with their fasts the apostolic institution of the forty days,” again noting the apostolic origins of Lent. To suggest that it was a continuation of 40 days of mourning for Nimrod is absurd and there is no continuous practice from that time to now or any historical record showing that there was any such transition. Even the period of mourning for Nimrod of 40 days is not shown in Ezekiel 8 in fact This story of Nimrod, Semiramis and Tammuz in any form, regardless of the details or variation, is found nowhere in the Bible. So it simply cannot be stated that the story is a biblical one. Semiramis is not stated as being Nimrods wife, they are are not described as the King and Queen of Babylon and never described as having a son. In fact, Semiramis is NEVER mentioned in the biblical texts, not even once. Tammuz though, is spoken of, just once, in relation to the women weeping for him. He is, however, not stated as being the son of Nimrod or Semiramis. Therefore you are rejecting the historical Christian accounts of the establishment of Lent and relying on extra-biblical pagan mythology to concoct a conspiracy theory. What a cognitive dissonance. Proclaiming to "stay away" from pagan influences at the very same time as advancing pagan myths to overthrow a Christian observance.

Ezekiel chapter 13 KJV : God says, that He is against those that teach His children to fly ( rapture ) , to save their souls. I know I don't want God to be against me. Indeed God should be proud of you Dr. BARNETT for your propagation of a religion devoid of myths / mythologies, idolatries and remnants of paganism. Bravo for expunging from the religion of the Bible all cultural and idolatrous residues that have encroached into Christianity down the ages especially as portrayed in the Roman Catholic Church. But dear Dr. B. you should not do your job and teaching haphazardly; do it further and thoroughly. Let me just confine my comments to the New Testament. By the way, as you teach the Bible , I hope you are teaching and using ONLY the original languages of Hebrew/Aramaic and Koine Greek, not in any translations. You know well that translations import the mythical concepts of the peoples (Not that the original languages of Scripture are themselves free of mythologies!). So let's begin the demythologizing from the person of Jesus. The Virgin birth: we should knock the idea out of the Bible because it was of pagan origin. The Gospel of Matthew is wrong to have substituted "virgin" for "young woman" (as in Prophet Isaiah). Bravo Dr. B.! Next, the title "Son of God": please strip Jesus of this title because it is pagan in origin. Should we then not agree with the Muslims who say that God has no son? Or even with the contemporaries of Jesus who accused him of blasphemy because he called God his father and thereby making himself equal to God (John 10;33)? So also we should strip Jesus of the titles of "Lord" (Kurios) and "Savior" (Soter) because these were titles employed by the contemporary world for the Roman emperors. We should equally reject the concept of redemption and atonement through the shedding of the blood of Jesus because the idea and belief was pagan in origin. Ancient Israel accommodated itself to the practice ---- notably Moses employed it in the ratification of the old covenant. With this step, there is very much to expunge from the New Testament faith. The result is that the blood of Jesus shed on the cross had no value because that concept is of pagan mythical origin. Dr. B., you opposed the frequent celebration of the Mass by Catholics because it is not Biblical. Right then, let us correct St. Paul's statement in 1 Cor 11; 26 (" For as often as you ....."). That is a twisting of scriptures. We should pray for the spiritually dead. When we rightly divide the word of God ( 2 Thess Ch 2:15 KJV ), we learn in scripture, that praying for the dead is wicked, and deceptive. The dead are already in heaven, one side of the gulf, or the other. ECC Ch 12 says when we die our flesh bodies return to the earth ( dust ) in wence it came, and our spiritual bodies return to the Father whom gave it. God is not a God of the dead, but a God of the living.

Please explain the marriage part to me . A) because in the old testament a man had but to " come into " a woman to be married. B) as far as i have noticed in my bible there has not been said in old or new testament that you must go before a priest, preacher , brother ,elder and be " formally " married. And C) there is no place in my readings of the bible where it says that ypu have to go to a judge or a city official or register a marriage certificate. Most of us work Monday to Friday and Sunday is when most churches have their services and we meet. There is NO sin in having a church service on ANY particular day. I agree. Sunday was changed back in 500AD according to a very old Bible I have. As Christians we need to fight for Saturday to worship which is the actual Sabbath. Jesus even rose on a Sunday so that Mary and others were not on Sabbath.

What I am saying is that when Sunday worship becomes mandatory then it is a mark of their authority and that is when you will have to make a choice of worshipping on a pagan unbiblical day of worship or choosing God's chosen day to worship. (see Isaiah 58:13). Cain chose to worship God his own way, Able obeyed God and worshipped God's way. Cain killed Able because Able was blessed and he was not. It will be the same in the end. There will be persecution of the true worshippers of God by the false worshippers. You will have to make a choice as to who's side you are on. The day of worship will be the test.
