Interesting. I'm going on 3 years with mine (2020 model) with zero issues other than the tailgate issue (although not as bad as seen here) you described here. A quick adjustment by the dealer and that was it. I'm extremely happy with mine. Flawless otherwise, despite its use as a work truck, off road and towing various heavy trailers.

I remember everyone saying that JLR had reliability problems. I of course thought they were all over blown. Every manufacturer has reliability issues with individual vehicles. So in 2012 I bought a 2012 Range Rover Evoque. Great vehicle. Loved it. It was a little small for the price i got it for. Issues: in the 1st year I had 3 different flats on the stock Continental tires that came with it. Replaced all four tires with Pirelles. Never had another flat after that. The headlights (both of them) would burn out on average every 6 months. Sometimes in as little as 2 weeks after being replaced. The Meridian sound system was awesome but if you lowered the rear windows while driving you would get a deafening feedback reverb. You only needed to come in for an oil change and maintenance once a year, but when you did at the dealership, you could be looking at a bill that could run as high as $2000 USA. No I didn’t make that up. The radiator needed to be replaced for faulty seams. The battery completely died in just under 3 years. The rear window washer jet didn’t work. 02 sensor had to be replaced I think twice. A couple other modules I’m not recalling at this time. The point being, all of these things I was willing to put up with, while the vehicle was under warranty. Couple days in the shop, get a loaner, no big deal. End of warranty period, differential needs to be replaced. Cost? $5000. Nope. No thank you. Traded it in for a Subaru Ascent. Oil change every 6 months. 5 years later no issues. I really do want a LR Defender but that gorgeous lil Evoque I bought 11 years ago has scared me straight.

Hey all there is a recent windshield recall if you head to dealership it’s covered under full factory warranty due to water leaking.

The owners had the windshield replaced a few months back under warranty but not under the recall.

I'm still baffled with that scratch in the rear hatch. I have a 2018 HSE and I don't have that particular problem. If you are watching this, you would think that the entire line up has that issue. I bought mine at 38K last year now at 43K.
@rickym19 ай бұрын
I have a 2020 Discovery 5 and have same scratch issue. I've seen it on other Discovery as well, it is common and disappointing.
@EnGieBenGie90 Жыл бұрын
"All these issues" man there is nothing engine related, suspension related etc, you are v lucky, I have had serious Mechanical issues with my Discovery, i.e. gearbox failing, Rear Diff failing & Rear prop shaft becoming unbalanced, now I think the Transfer box needs to be rebuilt. I have had nothing but drive related issues, which has cost me now the price of a small van that I could be driving around in. Yes you have issues and yes they should not be issues like that, but that's minor stuff compared to what some or even a lot of Land Rover drivers experience/ are faced with!
@landroverSV Жыл бұрын
You purchased a loaner car or a fleet car which means the dealership owner/worker's used it for a while then sold it. That's why it was cheaper because technically it's a used car. My opion of course. I own a 2008 Discovery 3 SE V8 and love it compared to the Discovery 5.
@AutoMotivate Жыл бұрын
You are probably right but ideally they took good care of the car. The current owner owned a Disco 2, which brought him to buy the new one.

I recently had a very unpleasant episode with my Disco 5. The steering rack failed whilst cornering causing me to have an RTA. I claimed on my insurance for body and mechanical repair. 14 weeks in to repair and I am still awaiting return. Very long parts wait from LR (steering rack, suspension arms and subframe). Can anyone advise if I have a legitimate claim against LR as I have excess to pay on my insurance claim and the car is now devalued as it has been in an accident. I understand that this fault has been recognised with other LR models that have been recalled but not the Discovery 5.
@carolm6299 Жыл бұрын

Only three things wrong with modern Landies, the engineering (which is pathetic and the back of an envelope would reject most of it), the components (which are the cheapest available and often not fit for 50K miles even) and, of course, the assembly (so bad, oh so bad).
