Dont zero the laser in at ANY specific distance. Run the laser parallel to the bore sight and know no matter the distance your rounds will hit 1.5 or 2 inches ABOVE the laser dot. Then you eliminate the issue at any distance it will always hit the in same location . Think about it.. And you are welcome.

Just saw your comment now I did the same thing up top of the comments. I use a laser integrated into the light of the wml itself. I then use purple octite on the windage elevation screws hold them causing them to shift
@AdrianMartinez-wh4bp Жыл бұрын
you are almost correct. you have the right idea but to achieve this you have to bore site to it's maximum effective range (true sight) then you can parallel the laser right under. it's nearly impossible to do this any other way unless you can adjust the brightness on your laser to see exactly where it lies by the mm from close. either way doing it from far will always make sure it is correct anywhere in between
@SitNSpinRecords Жыл бұрын
The laser will project further than the bullet will fly. The bullet will start out say 2” high then get closer to the beam over time as gravity pulls it to the ground. Iron sights are set at 25 yards from factory. If you put the dot on the top of the front sight. You will be dead on at 25 yards Closer will be progressively higher and further will get lower and lower If you are trying to take 75 yards pistol shots, you need Jesus…. and a rifle.

I disagree. At 25 yards my bullet will hit the dot. I adjust my dot to barely be touching the tip of the front post. The irons are factory set for 25 yards. At 5 to 25 yards the bullet has barely realized it has left the barrel. It will drop 10-12 inches at 300 feet (100yards) at 10 feet the drop is probably smaller than the dot size.

I noticed this too when I got a laser/light, and I feel the best way to counter it is to go ahead and sight it in for 50+ yds and just remember that the closer the target is, the lower the laser for the laser/light will be on the target. Or take it even further beyond and memorize where the dot is at multiple ranges. Yeah you could argue it's "one more thing to think about" in a self defense situation, but by that logic, so is having a laser/light on your carry gun in the first place, so might as well train yourself to be able to use it well if you're gonna have it.

I found that the best way to deal with the rail-mounted laser versus bore offset is to NOT zero the laser at a specific distance. What I mean is that I don't try to get the laser to zero perfectly with my sights or point of impact. I know that on my MR920 with TLR-8, there are exactly 2.25 inches between the bore and the laser. I took a piece of paper and drew 2 small circles exactly 2.25 inches apart (center to center). By aligning my front sight perfectly on the top circle and turning on my laser, I can tell it's pointing perfectly straight if it hits the bottom circle. That 2.25 inch offset between bore and laser stays consistent regardless of distance. In a defensive shooting situation with a pistol, the 2.25 inch difference doesn't matter. What matters is that the laser always hits that far below point of impact, whether I'm at 3 yards or 10. If you do it this way, your laser will always be perfectly parallel (or damn near) to your bore/sights.

It really is designed for extremely quick acquisition at short distances. I'd keep something like this on a stay-at-home defense weapon. I wouldn't prefer this on a conceal carry.
@ketchfamily38542 жыл бұрын
The only thing is that bore sight lasers are notoriously inaccurate. They aren't designed in a way that even makes sense. The boresight, just like a normal round will have some wiggle room it's extremely minor but when you're looking out more than a few feet it becomes even more inaccurate.
@wilcox-outdoors2 жыл бұрын
Check out how to zero a laser for night vision. You're supposed to offset it under the barrel instead of point of impact. With night vision you stay to the side so you're not shooting left at 50 yards and right at 200.

I like a parallel zero better for lasers on guns
@RoboBreaker Жыл бұрын
This is the correct solution. Then you don't have to do any math. You know the bullet will hit 1-2 inches above the laser, at all ranges inside of bullet drop distance (75 yds)

Same thing with Dots so you have to zero them for whatever yardage you want . Lasers are fine for close range but I just rely on iron sights & a dedicated Red Dot gun . Shot with my laser yesterday. I didn't need to zero at 15'-21' (FEET), the shots were within center mass in about a 3" (inch) radius. I have seen scoped rifles do the same at very close ranges because of the height of the scope.

Make laser converge on boresight where you think your likely combat distance is. 5yards covers 70% of FBI shootouts with perps. You won’t see a laser easily past that distance anyway, unless it’s in the dark of your home. Zero Vortex Defender on G43x MOS (red dot) for 10 yards. The 10 yd zero gets you 25yd with a ballistic drop of 1”. Know your carry piece well. Use Federal Hydroshock, or Hornady Defender HP bullets so when you’re tried for the unfortunate act of killing a perp. You can defend yourself by asserting “It’s what police use.”

Nice gun you have there with the two tone! But I don’t get the latest fads of lasers, RMR style optics and lights on guns designed for “minimalist” and discrete concealed carry. Chances are if carrying a small gun like the Glock 43/43x, the shooting is going to be in distances of less than 7 yards and realistically statistics show more within 3 yards. Up close and personal. Lights, lasers, RMR’s, just needlessly adds bulk, weight and distraction to good shooting habits while performing under stress. Again, this is my own opinion as other disagree. Sure, a larger framed “duty” gun and I defiantly see a light option on the gun. But the laser…. Mehhhh. …”glass,” nope. They don’t work anyway when going into let’s say a cold winter environment and into a warm house/room/office, because they fog up. Get rain on the glass optic and you can forget that too. Some say, “get cowitness sights,”. Well then what’s the purpose of the glass to begin with? I feel that it’s just adding more gimmicks and gadgets to a gun, while defeating the purpose of keeping it small and compact for carry. I’ve been carrying concealed legally now for 31 years without all that crap attached to small compact guns and it’s just me. Everybody is different and I respect one’s personal choice.

Sounds like it's adjustable so people can dial in the distance they are most comfortable at. From there, a few inches above or below is kind of irrelevant seeing as you're already far more accurate then without.

It's there to help not be the primary method of aiming, good old eyeballing always works pretty good unless your depth perception is all whacky than maybe idk,or just throw your gun to the floor ,close your eyes and say Jesus take the strap.
