I’ve been informed that I used the incorrect term describing Jewish people, will be using the correct term from here on out.

By saying jew? You can say that. Anyone can. It’s only a problem when it’s said as a pejorative. Context matters. But then again, that’s just my opinion & I don’t speak for all of us.

Regarding scrunchies: I was maybe 14 or 15 when this season came out. I remember every woman in my family agreeing that scrunchies were NOT for going out- only for home. Now we tend to mix decade styles etc so no one really cares. At the time, a woman wouldn't have been caught dead in a nice club wearing a scrunchie.

Well… I am of that time, and I remember thinking it’s weird to think someone like Carrie would have a problem with a scrunchie? Doesn’t she live for quirky, outdated, rare, vintage stuff. And in the early 2000s, to wear a scrunchie would be like “Wow! Where did you even find that??? Did you make it?? That’s how dated they were… And that’s why they’re OK to wear now. Fashion is definitely cyclical. I NEVER though the weirdest 90s fashions “like these pleated mom style pants” with skippies would ever be cool again, but damn if these kids aren’t dressing like 90210 original cast

I was a kid of the 90s and 2000s and you couldnt catch me in a scrunchie in 2000-2018 😂 i always associated them with being a lil girl and the 80/90s. But now yolo lol

Yeah, S6 is a *VERY* mixed bag for me. Harry & Charlotte *CARRIED* this entire season, fr! I love their relationship sm but yeah, Charlotte was in the wrong during that argument. Miranda's 6x02 storyline was so relatable to me bc I fr did that all of college. Samantha was also great this season. Her & Jerry (aka Smith) were cute together. I can't stand any of Carrie's relationships (Aiden is like the one exception), but they were the *WORST* in S6, omg.
@Facetterdk
@Facetterdk 4 ай бұрын
What Charlotte said towards the ending of that argument was over the top, but hey, she is human too, and his complete disregard for her dinnner was SO disrespectful. Converting for her was a big deal, she is not a shallow person to whom customs and traditions do not matter, and she was so proud to show him how she had taken Judaism to heart. It was not just dinnner, it was a declaration of love, and he was more interested in some sports game. Shame on him.

I’m married to an ashkenazi Jewish man (secular jew, I didn’t convert. In-laws are mix of Orthodox Jews, Conservative Jews, Reform Jews, Secular Jews) I didn’t convert and he was basically like “get over it” to his family. Converting to Judaism is supposed to be because you’re drawn to Judaism and feel like you were always meant to be a jew and believe in it. It’s not like Christianity where they’re happy just to have as many people interested as possible. In many Jewish communities you’d be gossiped about as not being a real Jew (a goy / goyim who is being a poser) if people knew the sole/primary reason for conversion was so you could get married to your Jewish BF/Fiancé Decided to talk about it since you said it didn’t feel like it was your place to talk about it. Edit: “is what he said about is they reject you a bunch of times true?” There’s nuance, they may not. It’s a TV show. The conversion process for different faiths and which actually accepted as legitimate by who (especially isreal) is too complex for a comment section. Just go with “it depends” as an answer if you’re not actually interested in converting. And I’m surprised the two just don’t celebrate Chrismukkah or something so Charlotte doesn’t have to give it up completely

Not me singing along to your theme song! I actually love it. Wow it's been 20 years since season 6 of SATC first aired. The thing you said about Berger in the Gilmore Girl universe makes sense kind of sense actually. Wanting to dress up like a certain aesthetic because you love the way it looks and choose comfort instead is sooo relatable. I think it's an ADHD thing. It's so time consuming and it costs money but it looks so good but you know oversized tshirts are just so comfy. Looking forward to next part of this video (and all the others!)

Maybe unpopular opinion but i never really understood why burger never made a comeback in the movies or now on the reboot. He really gives off the vibe of theguy that ghosts you and just reappears in your life out of nowhere years later, just like nothing happened. I guess the character was so unpopular that they didnt wanna risk it so we instead got a miriad of aidan comebacks.

I get what you said about artists being sensitive about their work, but the scrunchie thing wasnt about his work or his talent or skill. It was one réally tiny detail. He didnt even have to correct it in the book. And carrie had a point. Most women reading his book would notice the scrunchie thing. He completely overreacted. Esp since she genuinely loved his book. The writers ruin him because the series was ending. I hated how they ruined his character by making him a moody, insecure, weirdo and how they got rid of him by making him 1) get so insecure over the scrunchie thing that it damages his and carries relationship, and 2) starting with the insecurity triggered by the scrunchie thing he ends up dumping carrie, right after sex and telling her he wants it to work and it doesnt want to be an insecure asshole, with a post-it. I really liked him before the scrunchie thing. And i never thought about berger and lorelai gilmore. I agree. Happy berger, before the scrunchie woukd have been great with berger. The banter would have been so much fun. The witty, quick back and forth. I love how the fast and witty way lorelai and rory talk. Esp with each other. I talk like that. And though ive learned to try and slow down for others a great deal most of the time, it is difficult and the more excited i am, the harder it is. And sometimes it is impossible. I have bipolar disorder and even when im medicated well and my mood is stable, my natural talking is fast and a bit manic in its energy. But i LOVE people who can keep up with me with talking and conversation and those lightening fast conversations. Being bipolar and having ADD, my brain can work super fast. And though i try not to because its rude, i can actually talk and listen at the same time. My brain can multi task in that way. Though i love talking, i am an exceptional listener and rarely miss something. And because i have dyslexia i have an exceptional memory. Visual and audio. Really helps in law school lol

I think the thing about Charlotte converting was she assumed that the rabbi she was learning from held the same customs as Harry. Jewish people are not a monolith, and degrees to orthodoxy and general customs change depending on denomination and personal preference. I think she should have consulted Harry first about his priorities instead of just nosediving into the first rabbi she could find. But as a Jewish person, I find her journey and commitment to be both realistic and very respectfully done. And quite comedic in the best way too!
@alsunpilsut

I love that you don't wanna comment on the Charlotte converting for Harry storyline because you don't feel like it's your place. Honestly, people should do this much more often. If you don't know enough about something, you don't have to have an opinion about it. For example the whole Samantha dates Chivon and his sister loses it over the relationship plotline is one I have no opinion on. I am a basic a** white b**ch and I am very much not in a position where I could understand the whole situation so I'm gonna leave the talking to those with a much better perspective.

I didn’t grow up very religious at all, so I might not be the best jew to talk about this. But from what I’ve heard, you really need to show you’re serious about converting to Judaism. People can be denied & try again. I’m not sure if that’s a super common thing or not though as they portray it in the show.

Jews turning converts away three times is definitely real. Unlike Christianity and Islam, Judaism isn’t a proselytizing religion and conversion is made difficult on purpose.

I wanna reiterate my comment above that I do really think it depends on the community and in particular how orthodox…. Granted I can’t speak on someone’s converting experience necessarily just what I’ve witnessed with my communities. I will admit though that even when born Jewish when coming to a new community it *can* be difficult as I have been asked to prove my Jewishness before but more than not that is a rare circumstance and honestly given the historical track record…. Can you blame people for wanting to be protective of their communities?

Hi I’m Jewish and really enjoy your videos Ummm two things, 1st hearing you say “Jew” made me really sad/ uncomfortable and have a difficult time focusing on the rest of your commentary on the show. The term “Jew” can be (not always) a really difficult word for a lot of Jewish people as there is a history of it being used derogatorily so if in future videos if you could say “Jewish” or “Hebrew” it would be much appreciated. Thank you. 2ndly: no… the rejecting you loads is not a thing. Admittedly it does tend to depend on the community and maybe how orthodox it is, and also there are a lot more cautious communities as of late out there considering the attacks on temples and yeah but generally speaking no. That is not a thing and as many fond memories I have of SATC I also recall quite a lot of antisemitism that fostered a lot of internalised stuff so whoo 😅 Love your videos and hope you find this helpful ❤
