Shane your hair looks very normal, I wouldn't have thought anything of it if you hadn't pointed it out - don't get self-conscious. It looks great, it's not too dark, and the color suits you. Besides, it'll fade. If you don't like it you can fade it faster by double-shampooing and/or using clarifying shampoo. But you look fine :)

Here (Vic, Aus), driving tests allow for one minor mistake in each of the three driving segments (pre-drive safety checks, side-street driving, traffic driving) and one or two critical mistakes (i.e. explicitly unsafe actions like failing to use ones signals, forgetting to do a head check when merging, etc...) depending on how bad they were.

man, i'm with you on the first driver's test with cranky tester. the dmv closest to me has been there for forever so it's no secret what their general areas were, and they never took you on the freeway, which was super close. but guess what!! lucky me! mine took me on the freeway.! .... at rush hour. the on-ramp lane turned into an exit lane that's always super backed up, and he wanted me to take the exit after it and it's almost impossible to get over. i was patiently waiting for an in, or someone to take pity on me and let me in, and this guy was getting so annoyed with me for not getting over. i would have caused an accident!??? then a car behind me honked at me because i didn't IMMEDIATELY move forward a few feet when the cars in front of me moved up, and the teacher put "HONK" and circled it on my test and i was like ???? i got deducted bc some impatient asshole honked at me???? he also docked me for not going fast enough on the on-ramp. it was rush hour. the car in front of me was going 25mph. the fuck you want me to do, bro? drive through the car in front of me??? i can't go 55 when the car in front of me is thirty mph below it! i also got docked for "failing to anticipate lane changes" even though it was his fault. he had me remain in the right lane until just before the last second, and then asked me to turn left. again, considering it was rush hour, i would have had to cut someone off to make it. he also docked me for going straight in a left lane at a four-way stop which, of course, would be fair. however, there was a giant-ass garbage truck just parked in the lane to go straight/turn right. no one was in it. so i had to go around it. and guess what, there was no room for me to reenter the lane, and he wanted me to go straight. so i had to go straight from the left turn lane. there also weren't ANY OTHER CARS at the stop. i also got into trouble for "going too slow" in a neighborhood in a gird pattern, where none of the grid had stop signs except when you got to a main street. so, i was being cautious IN A NEIGHBORHOOD and i got docked for it. at least when he had me parallel park he had me just pull up to an empty curb like shane. unfortunately for me, my stepdad taught me to lightly bump the curb and then straighten out so i'd be as close as possible, but where i live, if you hit a curb for any reason whatsoever, it's an automatic fail. so i hoped and prayed and this guy looked full-on prepared to rip into me but after he checked he didn't say anything. i saw on the test it said i was an inch away so lol suck it bro. he also told me i "didn't check the bike lane" before i crossed it to get into a turn lane. ... i could see the bike lane for the last several blocks. seeing as, it was, yknow... in front of me...? i also used the mirrors so like...??? i think he was literally expecting me to turn my head and look at the space i'd literally just driven past or smth. anyway, i was crushed. i didn't even want to take my test yet but one of my parents made me, and then i went and failed miserably from no mistakes of my own. blessedly, despite how flustered he'd caused me to be, i didn't make any actual mistakes. the same parent was also pissed bc like, you're supposed to be a defensive driver and from everything this tester did it sounded like he wanted me to be an aggressive one.

I so relate to this Shane hair moment. Went to a new hairdresser and she totally dyed my hair not the color I expected, basically dyed it red when the agreed color was supposed to be violet. She was so fixated on covering my grays and kept mentioning when I was like uh I don’t mind them. Then the color basically faded to light brown and my darker hair with grey started coming in and I was like does it look like I was trying to cover my grey hair and am not keeping it up, when genuinely I just am growing out the color I hate until I can get my hair done the color I really wanted.

I had a very similar experience. Not on a test but on the driving instructor before the test. Where I am from you have to do 3, each with different levels of difficulty. First went totally fine. The second time was a different guy and he was just a fuckin douche and made me super nervous and uncomfortable. We were in one of those drivers ed cars with double steering wheels and break pedals. At one point im driving on a 4 lane road, with a 5th center turn lane, and without saying anything at all, just slams on the break. Were going 40 mph and we come to a screeching halt, and he goes, theres a bus stopping there. Literally the other side of the 5 lanes a school bus was ABOUT to stop and let kids off, didnt even have the little stop sign up yet. Then were on the highway, literally first time id been on the highway, and hes like okay, speed up and overtake this car, so i start pressing on the gas lightly, and hes like "SPEED UP! COME ON I SAID SPEED UP! PRESS ON THE GAS! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! Okay nevermind. Just let it go. Take the next exit." Then a third time, a small street near my house there is a weird intersection where if youre turning left you dont stop, but every other way stops. We get halfway through the intersection and dude slams on the brakes again. "YOU DIDNT STOP THERE!" im like "yea. there isnt a stop sign there." he looks back and is like "oh okay, youre fine." I got home and was just seething. He told my mom I sucked. 1 week later I had another test, was dredding it, same guy came, but this time I was prepared for his bullshit so I didnt let him get to me. Test went fine and he goes "ive never seen someone improve so much in a week." Idk how you think youre gonne teach people to drive while making them stressed and panicked.
