@@balladofahomeschooledboy0514 Each student will have a specific class they have in the morning (and usually after lunch) which is only for the purpose of taking the register and providing generic information unrelated to a specific subject (such as school trips or sports day). Most schools have a horizontal system, where everyone in the class is from the same year group. Other schools have a vertical system, where the students are from a mixture of year groups. It is designed to promote connection between the years.

Its not a private school, most British schools won't allow students to have a phone in school. My nephew had to get a doctors letter to have his in school (he's type 1 diabetic and his blood glucose sensor alerts him on his phone if his BG levels go too low or high)

fun fact! about the phone thing, in most countries besides america usually you’re not allowed you’re phone at anytime during the school day and sometimes it’s as strict as even if it’s seen in your pocket or what not it’s confiscated!
