Yep the idea of gentle giants isn't exactly true. Horses kill more people a year in Australia than any croc, sharks, snakes or spiders. Often by people riding them falling off, but people get kicked by them all the time. Hippos kill more than crocs in Africa. Many of the most dangerous animals are herbivorous. Rhinos, Elephants Buffalo, Moose. Any big heavy animals can be extremely dangerous and many of them are territorial and will respond to perceived threats aggressively. Even being in a herd of cows can be dangerous, they use their bulk to knock people over and trample them.

My favorite moment is when you were like "dinosaurs only eat vegetables", and then mentioned the T rex. After literally getting a monologue from Grant about how Velociraptors hunt and then eat you alive. At least the T rex is a short death. Maybe one bite but by the second you are gone. Velociraptors make you fight and flail while your organs are being feasted on. It's FAR worse. I'm crying . Such great content. "How fast can a T rex Run." Says the man who watched the first dino scene and the big kicker was that they clocked the T rex at 35. Which made Grant's knees buckle. You were informed. A little thing called foreshadowing to set up that scene. Middle schoolers caught on to it. Because they talked about how fast the jeep was going and, depending on the which gear the Jeep was in, how fast the Jeep would be going and if it was realistic enough. Ah...good ol' manual transmission. The 90's really were great.

*It doesn't matter how often I've seen Jurassic Park, that scene in the maintenance bunker when the Raptor shows up behind Ellie will always get me with the jumpscare.* *Side notes:* *>The dinosaur sounds in this movie were made by combining sounds made by living animals and everyday objects.* *>The Tyrannosaurus rex, affectionately known as Rexy, was a mix of elephant calf vocalizations (roar, snarls and growls), with koala, lion & tiger sounds and alligator gurgles thrown in and a dog playing with a rope toy (shaking the Gallimimus to death).* *>The Dilophosaurus was a mix of hawk, swan, howler monkey and rattlesnake sounds.* *>The adult Raptors were a mix of a walrus chest roar and male tortoise mating call mixed with a dolphin scream recorded with a hydrophone, while the hatchling was a mix of owlet and fox kit sounds.* *>The Brachiosaurus vocalizations were slowed down donkey brays, while the sneeze was a mix of an active fire hydrant and a whale breathing through its blowhole(s). (There's an "s" in parentheses because depending on whether or not whales have teeth or baleen plates (think of them as biological water filters) in their mouths, whales have either one or two blowholes)* *>The Gallimimus's chief sound effect was made using the recorded calls of a mare (female horse) in heat, while their movements were inspired by those of ostriches.* *A good portion of this movie was shot on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.* *>Whenever I hear Hammond ask "Who's hungry?", my first reaction every time is "Not after hearing the Raptors rip the cow apart."* *>Lego released 30th anniversary sets in honor of Jurassic Park and the one I have is based on Dennis Nedry's encounter with the Dilophosaurus.*

The mosquito blood thing isn't possible, because the blood cells would decompose over time, but there have been dinosaur DNA samples of certain species found preserved in glaciers. It would've made more sense if they used chicken or duck DNA to patch the gaps in the Dino DNA. Grant said in the beginning that dinosaurs are more closely related to modern birds than reptiles. Female birds have 2 ovaries: one on the right that is fully developed and functions, and one on the left that is an underdeveloped clump of cells that doesn't do anything for most birds. In many birds (including domestic chickens and ducks), if the right, functional ovary dies due to an injury or infection, the left ovary develops into a testes, resulting in a complete sex change including plumage, call, behavior, and even reproduction. It happens surprisingly often with ducks, if you hang around a duck keeping Facebook group long enough, you'll see people complaining about their ducks "going drake". It's generally considered a negative in poultry because males don't lay eggs and they're territorial, so if you end up with too many, they start to fight. It just would've made so much more sense in the context of the movie and reality.

If you ever end up reacting to Toy Story 2, there is a very quick but funny reference to this movie.

There are two more Jurassic Park movies and then 3 Jurassic World movies. You need to see them all, in order they came out.

Nedry is not trying to destroy the park LOL. He is trying to turn off the security so he can get to the doc undetected.

I saw this 6 times in theaters, that's how epic it was. I already loved Dinosaurs as a kid but this was mind blowing. When CGI was relatively new and was blended beautifully with practical effects. Not completely depended on as it is now. I will never forget feeling the steps of the T-Rex as the water ripples... One of the greatest cinematic experiences ever. To think Spielberg was working on this and "Schindler's List" at the same time...
@mikearmstrong8483Ай бұрын
At that time, this was the apex of CGI. When I walked out of the theater, a guy came up behind me and tapped me on the shoulder to bum a smoke. I actually pissed myself and almost knocked him into the next county by reaction.
@SalvableRuinАй бұрын
The "apex"? CGI was in it's infancy, and this was the first time it was used to make believable creatures.
@mikearmstrong8483Ай бұрын
@SalvableRuin Yes, that was the meaning of "at that time".

When they asked "What is that?" When the Dilophosaurus spits at Nedry, or when they ask "How fast can the T-Rex go?" Its like they weren't even listening.

Michael Crichton wrote the book this movie is from. It has a "theme park" element to it, like his other book called "Westworld." And that one was made into a 1973 movie, and also into an HBO series more recently.
