She-Ra is the #1 show that's been requested in my comments lately for me to react to. I'm excited to dive into Season 5! Season 5 was incredible! I've been saying since season 1, I'd love for She-Ra to get a ponytail.... AND THEY REALLY DELIVERED!!!! It was glorious. We also got the long-awaited Catradora but that's less important to me in order of significance.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is an American animated streaming television series developed by Noelle Stevenson and produced by DreamWorks Animation Television. Like the 1985 Filmation series She-Ra: Princess of Power, of which it is a reboot, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power tells the tale of Adora, a teenager who can transform into the heroine She-Ra and leads a group of other magical princesses in a rebellion against the evil Lord Hordak and his Horde.

She was finally allowed to. In an interview, she stated that she had to fight tooth and nail to put in homosexuality. Spinerella and Netossa were pushed to the background as a compromise in season 1. They became more prominent. Her main goal was to provide for the love between adora and catra in season 5. She could only hint at other relationships, before becoming more bold with them as time went on.

It’s a also a call back to season 3 when shadoweaver and glimmer confront Catra and catra says “you came back for adora” well this time Shadow Weaver went back for Catra

The old sword was a First One tool to harness She-Ra and control its inheritance. But She-Ra comes from Etheria itself. Adora’s look changed because now it’s based on her instead of an ill fitting suit she inherited. Mara pulled the old look off better than Adora did, but I assume if she hadn’t inherited She-Ra via the sword and had the unshackled power of Etheria, her She-Ra form would have reflected her (non blue eyed blonde white girl) actual looks more - s ties into the themes about colonialism

Shadow Weaver did make her the favorite but she also put everything on abora. Anyone of katras mistakes was because Adora didn't keep her in check enough. Meaning anytime Shadow Weaver punished Catra Adora would blame herself seeing her friend get hurt this also reinforces the idea that if she's not perfect Shadow Weaver will punish her in the same way. In the kind of relationship that Catra and Adora had with Shadow Weaver both the one that is made the scapegoat and the clear favourite are being abused in different ways and it can be very hard to recognize that especially when you're the favorite or when you're thinking about the favorite. Adora basically has the mindset that she is only as good as what she can offer others which is why she has a hero complex it is something that shadoweaver hardwired into her.

So shadow weaver's death fits her character so well imo. She died doing the "one good thing" in her life but it's not a redemption. She never got to actually make up for what she did so in a way, her death was both selfish and selfless: she is "taking the high road" by dying heroically (saving the world) but not in a way that she can try and become a better person like catra did. SW wasn't redeemed, but at least she died doing what she loves- traumatizing catra and adora 🙃🥲

There is an extremely popular essay from Roland Barthes called «The death of the author» which is... still a matter of discussion because it kinda invalidates the value of critique, but the point of the text is that the author of any work becomes no longer the authority on the meaning of their work once the piece of work has been published, that authority goes to the audience instead. By that point the author stops being an author and becomes part of the audience, so any comment or interpretation they express about that piece shouldn`t have more inherent weight than another comment or interpretation expressed by any other person. Idk if anyone already commented ab this but anyhow, this is why adora keeps doing things on her own: she was manipulated from when she was a baby by shadow weaver to be the perfect warrior child. If adora hadnt left the horde she would have become the force captain and adventually make a lot of really important decisions for the horde. She also tries to do stuff alone bc when she was being manipulated she didnt even realize and when she finally did she realized shadow weaver didnt really care ab her and was using her for the success of the horde. Also why she was so desperate to fight the bots on her own after she broke the sword is bc she had just before that found out that she was a part of a project. And she must have felt like she was nothing and just a peice of a machine and being used again. She must have been really hurt by it bc she thought that she finally was someone who could decide for herself. Hope this helped answer some questions some ppl might be having ab adora
