She-Ra is the #1 show that's been requested in my comments lately for me to react to. I'm excited to dive into Season 4! Watching season 4 for the first time had me feeling so many emotions!! I was shouting, screaming, and crying a little bit. Realizing a certain character was actually alive was incredible. Fantastic season. JUSTICE FOR KYLE!!!
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is an American animated streaming television series developed by Noelle Stevenson and produced by DreamWorks Animation Television. Like the 1985 Filmation series She-Ra: Princess of Power, of which it is a reboot, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power tells the tale of Adora, a teenager who can transform into the heroine She-Ra and leads a group of other magical princesses in a rebellion against the evil Lord Hordak and his Horde.

I feel like Double Trouble's speech to Catra was a wake up call for her. Everything they said is absolutely true (brutal, but true) and I felt so bad for her, but I think this is what set her on the right path and what drove her to save Glimmer from Prime.

Also notice now after that she doesn’t react how she normally reacts to feeling distress- she doesn’t yell or destroy things. She’s so taken aback by that takedown that she’s stunned and I think it stuck with her. To me it was so important that we saw her silent after that and the next thing she does is ask Glimmer to kill her.

The best part of the finale, for me, was when Hordak began to cry after finding out Entrapta never betrayed him. Hordak genuinely cared about her, which is why when Hord Prime said “there was once a time you wished I would not find you” he grazed where the stone use to be. Hordak loves Entrapta, and even in the OG She-Ra series, she is the queen of Hord Prime, meaning she married Hordak. The two are a canon pair and it’s so cute

Legit. DT is... well, if I could bring one character from She-Ra into the real world, I would pick DT in a heartbeat. Adora would be a close second. I wish I could date DT. DT made me stop caring what was in people's pants (Not that I really cared before, I mostly just wanted to know for the sake of knowing. It would affect pretty much nothing... except maybe medical stuff, but yeah. I really don't care what your agab is, but "curiosity killed the cat" is one of my favorite sayings for a reason. "Satisfaction brought it back" is a part people often leave off. Autism definitely doesn't help in regards to wanting to know things I have no reason to know.)

EXACTLY and I think the part that's best to analyze is the reasoning behind it, catra is going down a cycle of abuse whereas glimmer is letting herself be manipulated, both hurt the people they love for different reasons

That’s the thing, Scorpia tells us that her family handed her over to the horde, but all the signs show that actually they were all killed/conquered and she was taken like every other child soldier by the horde seeing as her kingdom is in ruins and none of her family or people are around, which would be odd if they were willingly serving Hordak and the horde.

Exactly. The Horde probably told her a made up story of what happened and she believes it, because she doesn't know any better. But even if the fake story was true, it'd mean that her family just handed her over to the Hore and then left the Fright Zone without her. The fact that she doesn't feel betrayed by that and still sees that aspect of the story in a positive light makes me so sad. She just sees the best in everyone. :(

@@SkyBluePearl Yeah, Scorpia mentions in Princess Prom to Catra that Hordak and his ship crashed into the Fright Zone where her kingdom was, and according to her, her people allowed them to stay but it’s clear from what we see in the episode where Scorpia defects and leaves to rescue Entrapda with Emily, by the fact that the scorpion kingdom is decimated and in ruins, that the Horde took them over by force. The black Garnet is Scorpia’s rune stone and belonged to her family.

Adora is a child of abuse and what Glimmer said to her really is the worst thing she could have ever said. It was always tough for me to see what Adora's arc over the whole show exactly was. Y'know I finally realized why I always hoped Shadow Weaver would become good while everyone else just hated her. She reminds me of my mother. She emotionally and mentally abused Catra and Adora in a "Golden Child and Scapegoat" way, which is the same thinv my mom did with me and my brother. I was the Scapegoat but at the time when I first watched this I hadn't realized that I was being abused at all. Subconsciously though I had made the connection that Shadow Weaver was like my mom and thought that just maybe if Shadow Weaver became a good person then there'd be hope for my mom. I still think that even though I know it's wrong. The fact that they even show this kind of abuse in a TV show is amazing though. Whenever abuse is shown on TV it's always physical or verbal, they never show the manipulative and harder to detect emotional and mental abuse.

Yeah, my mom is just like that and it's hell living with her. She manipulated all my brothers so even of she does like some fucked up shit with me they don't see because they think she's right. I was better recently because she was working everyday so since I didn't saw her that much I could avoid fights but now she's home every Monday and this shit is really getting in my nerves, I'm mentally and physically sick because of stress, she knows it and act like it is my faul. I've even been keeping distance from my friends recently because I'm not being able to control my stress anymore, any little thing that happens makes me explode in anger and I hate that because I can't control that anymore

We have a better relationship now, we don't agree with each other on everything but now there's better communication and a big sense of respect. I loved Catra's outfit this season. But she really broke my heart this season. She's one of my favorite characters because she reminds me of myself and its hard to know what to do when you think that the person you were once closest to hates you and she kind of gave up on trying to make everything go back to the way it was. She thinks that the horde is the only place she belongs, and growing up with Shadow weaver did damage on her because she was always told that she wasn't worth happiness, so she believed it and made sure everyone around her hated her too. It's hard to describe why people make things worse like that, but it is what depression and trauma does.

A lot of people categorize her as toxic jumping over the fact that she grew up in a toxic environment and that Adora had a toxic attitud as well because they were raised by the same abusive person and sadly kids as a way of protecting themselves pick up ways to avoid that abuse by catering to the abuser. Both of them were damaged by SW but Catra being the recipient of all of SW anger and frustrations was able to see trough SW long before Adora defected, and even when they were in opposited sides she protected Adora, the thing is as an audience we all know what Catra has gone trough since Adora left, but Adora doesn't, so that's way for her it seem easy to defect and ask Catra to do the same but only a few times.

@@nightnaughty honestly, like adora has toxic behaviors as well but adora's behaviors are toxic mostly towards herself while catra's affects others. growing up in a toxic place like that, constantly manipulated and trying to show how good enough you are for shadow weaver took a toll on both of them and it's crazy to me people just brush over that. yeah catra did a lot of damage, but only after being damaged herself. like obviously what she did wasnt okay but holy fuck she isn't just a bad person like shadow weaver is.

@@jimballard1186 The only thing that really keeps me from agreeing that Catra's a bad person is the fact that she had a corrupt moral compass and therefore had an _idea_ of what's good and what's bad and what counts as good justification for good or bad actions but she was never actually taught so she knew the Horde was bad but she thought getting respect or love from SW or Hordak was good with the justification for both being that she wanted to be regarded as an equal and someone worthwhile.

About Razz episode, I believe was a beautiful way to talk about alzheimer. Because Razz's mind was floating between the past and the present, so she served as a bridge for Adora and Mara to communicate. That's why she said about being the first time again. Because it had been a long time since she'd relived the first time she met Mara

I don't think it's Alzheimer's as much as it is a Merlin reference. In the original legends, Merlin was said to be living backward through time, remembering the future and foreseeing the past. I think Razz's representation is that idea expressed through the lens of psychological trauma, defined as the state of being unable to progress or grow as a person because your brain is stuck in a specific time and place.

Madame Razz is already an old lady when Mara was She Ra, a thousand years ago. Her mind/awareness seems to exist throughout all time at the same time, so she finds it hard to stay "in the present" with whoever she's talking to. Also, Glimmer wasn't retreating/scared. Her big fight with Adora & Bow is that she wants to use the Heart to take the Horde down. Adora/Bow take on the role of Angella there, telling Glimmer she _can't_ and that it's too dangerous. All Glimmer hears is her friends ganging up on her & talking down to her/not trusting her when they are days away from losing the war.

It features lgbtqia+, depression, being dependent, insecurities, trauma, love, and much more. After the show, there is a movie and after the movie there is a spinoff of the show. Glimmer wasnt channeling her mom, she was doing what Catra was doing earlier with opening the portal. Infact Catra and Glimmer were/are on parallell journeys which were a hoot to behold. Such great characterizations there

Bow and Adora trying to redirect their grief to productive or happy matters vs. Glimmer wanting to directly grapple with her mother's death is an excellent example of clashing coping mechanisms. Similarly, Scorpia desperately trying to connect with Catra but Catra desperately keeping her walls up is another clash of coping mechanisms, one that IMO leads to an unhealthy environment on both sides. Scorpia was right to leave and Catra was being horrible, but Catra has in the past tried to gently correct Scorpia when she violated her boundaries ("Scorpia, remember that talk we had about personal space?"). Catra's patience has ebbed away by s4 AND she's in a bad place so she just. Lashes out, instead of tactfully asking Scorpia to back off. Loved your reactions as usual, and looking forward to next week!

please tell i wasn't the only one who predicted that king micah was alive from the second he said his last line in alternate world?? also, rewatching she-ra after watching countless character analyses makes the show so much better. like, everyone still has their flaws and you can be annoyed at them for that, but you'll know why they did what they did and what drove them to make those decisions. so, i definitely recommend rewatching she-ra after you've finished!

I felt it was quite obvious that he was realizing the truth in alternate world and was trying to communicate what was going on. There's not many things that him trying to panically shout at Angella could have been that start with "I am not ...", that are not "... dead!"

Basically, the thing about Razz is that she doesn't experience time in a linear way. Everyone, everything, everywhere experiences time like it's a straight line; the past, then the present, then the future. Razz's conciousness appears to randomly bounce around the past, present, and future and most shockingly, she retains the memories regardless of where her conciousness is in time. So she can remember and even talk about Adora even when her conciousness is in Mara's time. That's how Mara knew Adora's name and knew to leave the message for her.

This season is the one that start crushing my heart in small pieces :) But I loved it and season 5 is even better I think. That moment Glimmer said to Adora "My mother would still be alive" was truly heart-breaking imo, specially after I learnt the psychological state of Adora (you should watch the video "Why Adora matters" by Five by Five Takes, it really bu this show in a deeper dimension to me ! At first, I honestly wasn't really involved in this show, but damn now I'm just sad I didn't watch it earlier !

I gotta know! What was your reaction to the scene when Hordak found out Entrapta was sent to Beast Island? For me, I was glad he finally knew the truth, but was heartbroken when he shed a tear because it shows he has feelings for her deep down. She was the only one who understood him, didn’t fear him, and saw him as this special, incredible, unique imperfect person instead of a feared leader or a defect. And the fact she was on a dangerous island, thinking she’s fighting for her life or even dead, all because of Catra and was lied to about it just broke his heart. If you can’t tell, I ship Entrapta and Hordak haha. But what about you? What were thoughts and feelings on the scene?

Tying back to what I said in the last video, that I see She-Ra as the Star Wars Disney Sequel Trilogy done right THIS Season is where I got most of that mindset as in terms of plot it has a LOT in common with The Last Jedi. I know that sounds weird so let me try to better explain myself. At the end of the day the main story of TLJ and Season 4 of She-Ra is how distrust can destroy even the mightist of us. Luke didn't trust Rey, Poe didn't trust Holdo, Leia didn't trust Poe, Snoke didn't trust Kylo and Hux and Kylo could never bring themselves to trust one another even if their lives depended on it. Same thing goes for She-Ra, Glimmer and Adora grow apart and are unable to trust each other & Catra and Hordak's relationship is built on lies and abuse. And these bits of distrust build throughout both stories until both hero and villain are brought to near death. Both also have a subplot where the protagonist finds that she can't truly trust her mentor due to an action they took against someone they believed was evil/crazy, both have the main villain over throw their Emperor and effectively take their place as ruler of the evil empire only for everything they fought for to be taken away from them. There's even a moment where a weapon of great power is destroyed as a result of a hero and villain struggling for control of it and someone who turns works for one side but turns against those they were allied with for money and show no real regret for it. And finally there's a mission where two of our heroes go against the orders of their superiors and go on a mission to save the good guys do to the lack of trust I mentioned and in both cases that mission ultimately ends in failure. However, the key difference for me at least, is this. In She-Ra no one is stupid. Everyone in She-Ra is acting competently and aren't resorting to stupid plans for the sake of the plot and because things need to go a certain way and the lack of trust is based on reasons that most of us would run into. Glimmer distrusts Adora because Adora basically got her, Glimmer's, mother killed last season and Glimmer worked with Shadow Weaver, Adora's abusive surrogate mother, to manipulate Adora and use her as a tool. Poe and Holdo distrust each other for no good reason. Holdo even says that she likes Poe and thinks he has what it takes to take over the Resistance (he doesn't BTW and is chiefly responsible for nearly getting it destroyed Twice) and Holdo does nothing to encourage Poe that she is untrustworthy except that she acts like a soccer mom to him. That's annoying but not really a reason to distrust her did we miss a scene? Then we have Catra & Hordak and Oh Boy to paraphrase the Avengers they're not a team they're a time bomb. Between the abuse they heaped on each other along with their own personal issues it wasn't a case of it they would turn on each other but When. And yet for the most part they do work well together, putting aside their issues to try and take over Etheria for Horde Prime before he arrives so what could make them turn on each other. Enter Double Trouble, they're amazing, I love them and they are DJ done right. One of my issues with DJ was him suddenly caring what Finn thought of helping the heroes for no real reason. Finn says he wants to help the good guys and DJ, without any real prompting goes on about how both sides are equally bad because, you know, killing million of innocents just to prove you're evil vs. people trying to stop them is two sides of the same coin. Contrast this with Double Trouble, they're hired by Glimmer to get Hordak and Catra to turn on each other and once both have finished beating the crap out of each other they come up to Catra and reveal that they betrayed them. Why, because they're a sadist who loves to see how they're audience reactions and Catra slowly breaking down as they lay into her just how crappy she is fills them with joy. DJ is basically spelling out Finn's arc of wanting to remain neutral while DT is doing what they're doing both to try and help Catra breakaway from who she is (in their own twisted way) but also just for the pleasure of seeing her break. I love this show and this season was the one that made me realize that was missing in TDST.

Hi! I want to ask you something and I'm sorry if the question may sound rude. Why are your videos so short on emotional moments with my #1 favourite character Catra (my #2 is Adora)? I mean, in your reaction to the 1st season you missed most of Promise (that episode with Catra's and Adora's backstory) AND you said you aren't invested in the main relationship (one of) of the show (Adora and Catra). In reaction to 2nd season you skiped fascinating moment of "abused - abuser" relationship and in season 3 Catra's reaction to Shadow Weaver "choosing" Adora over her. In this reaction you completely skiped Catra's nightmair, didn't show her crying and showed only the end of Double Trouble's "hursh therapy session". In the first season I thought that it's because you naturally thought that protagonist's journey is more important than antagonist's, but from season 2 it should be obvious this is NOT the case in this show. What's also confusing is that from what I've seen you really dislike Shadow Weaver, which I also do, but for me one of the most important reasons WHY I dislike her is her treatment of Catra (and the fact that she didn't really changed or agknowledged her mistakes). I'm almost afraid to ask, but do you not like Catra, don't sympathyse with her? The thing is, I tend to think of this show as of show about destiny. And both Adora and Catra are, in a way, main characters. Throughout the show they both go on a ways that Shadow Weaver set them on, despite rejecting Shadow Weaver herself: Adora on a path of self sacrafice and Catra on a path of selfpreservation. Which is why they fascinate me so much. Near season five they both begin to shake the ways given to them and begin to shape their own. She-Ra is a story about breaking out of the path someone else set for you, about healing from abuse, and both Catra and Adora represent that very well. It is also a story about acxeptance and recieving help from others, which they also represent very well. So, as this two characters were one of the main reasons of me recomending this series in the first place, it's really sad for me to see one of them don't get enough attention from you. In everything else great reaction!

Certain themes don't necessarily resonate with everybody as strongly as with some people. I agree with your description of the show's main themes, but not everybody will have the same reaction as you do, and expecting them to might be setting you up for disappointment. Some people will up on some themes more than on others - and that's ok. Enjoy the ride to see through Stephanie's eyes, to get a different perspective than yours. That's the beauty of reaction videos (well that, and seeing people squeak over gay explosions and break down at the same moments you did) And I'm sure she will also read your comment or similar comments to it at some point and take your perspective into consideration.

This season and the last is filled with amazing setpieces that i cannot stop fangirling over The Micha reveal in particular was amazing- especially because on a rewatch it was foreshadowed perfectly- especially in the season 3 finale when Micha realized what was going on and he tried to tell Angela that he was still alive before being cut off Double-Trouble pissed me off despite being such an important character for Catra's entire arc solely because Flutterina was fake and she had the most adorable character design ever! SO CUTE! The episode "Hero" is my favorite of the entire series with a few season 5 episodes as very close seconds and I love how you get just enough about Razz to piece together that for some reason associated with the portal (because Entrapta mentioned how it could distort Space-Time and it would make perfect sense why Razz seemed unaffected by the Portal-world in season 3) her consciousness is constantly moving through time in her body- making that episode happening from Razz's POV perfect as that is how she is experiencing the episode in real time. The character portrayals are incredibly genuine and Adora's fears that Glimmer and the Rebellion cared about her as She-Ra and not Adora really fueled her side of the clash with Glimmer all season long. Also Shadow Weaver's manipulation backfiring is the best Shadow Weaver moment ("We need you, Scorpia, to connect to the black Garnet!" "What...?!") God she's such an abusive bitch and that turn was perfect. I'm really excited to see what you think of the Final season as I think it is such a perfect ending!
