First time I’ve watched your review. Very thorough and informative. I’ve one of these on order with the rubber hybrid strap with orange edges that compliments the orange detail on the GMT hand. I’ve read their bracelets are good but I thought this might be more stylish and comfy. It works out cheaper even if you buy the bracelet later albeit you buy two straps in effect. The dial looks superb. I hadn’t noticed the black screws on the dial. It adds to the style as it’s symmetrical and ties in with the black bezel. And I agree about value for money. At twice its price I’d pause even if I can afford it. At its price point - especially with the £100 launch discount - it’s excellent value and looks great quality.

great honest to the point review, I want to now buy it, but the screws are just putting me off. I can just hear everyone who will look at the watch say "what the hell are those screw doing there" But my biggest bug bare when there are visible screws on cases/faces is, please if you're going to use screws that can be seen, bloody line them up so the grooves all face the same direction!

I agree with you about the screws. I have a C60 #tide with these screws, and it is my least favourite feature, though they are less visually obtrusive on that watch. I would think any sort of bonding would put the entire face at risk of cracking if it needed to be removed. - ceramic bezels are much more robust than thin sapphire faces. Frankly the semi-translucent treatment of the white dial just doesn't grab me as much as the more interesting blue wave treatment of the C60 #tide, although I get the effect they were aiming for. Living in Winnipeg I see enough ice and snow all winter to need a reminder on my wrist haha. For me the warmer, opaque white dial of the Sealander GMT with its orange GMT hand and lettering is a bigger hit - it has a sort of peaches and ice cream aesthetic that I find appealing, though obviously this is a personal thing. The etched ceramic dial of the white Omega Seamaster is better looking than either of them to my eye, but alas the price is well over my budget.. Don't like the helium purge valve on the Omega either!

I just bought this exact watch and it arrived today, it very nice looking watch and I like it a lot. the bezel is bi-directional, I guess they updated it since this review came out, and to confirm the tide strap is super stiff, I had a bit of a hard time putting it on and taking it off, hopefully, it'll get easier once it has broken in. @watchreviews4k2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. Congratulations. Excellent choice. Wear yours in good health. "i think 42mm is perfect...don't understand this trend of smaller ladies sized watches...." Asia is the world's biggest market. The trend within the Asian market is for smaller 36mm, and 39mm pieces. Globally in other markets the trend has followed the Asian market; hence Rolex, Tudor, Omega, etc; making more 36mm and 39mm pieces in order to supply the demand within their core markets. 6-7" is the most common wrist size, therefore the brands sell more volume of 36mm and 39mm pieces versus 40mm and 42mm which suit 7-8" wrists better. From 2000-2010 the global trend was for larger watches; such as Panerai, Omega Planet Ocean 45mm, Steinhart Ocean One 42, etc. From 2016 onwards the trend began to change to 40, 39, and 36mm watches. Vintage heritage reissues in smaller sizes are now the trend. For example the Tudor Black Bay 58 in 39mm, which is like the Tudor and Rolex Submariner's of the 1950's. Regards, #WR4K

Very nice watch, it ticks all my boxes. Agree I did wonder what those dots were on the dial and do as you say by bonding the dial but the only trouble with that is how do you remove it when servicing the watch movement. Alternately use dial feet that are chemicals bonded, I use them all the time. Nice to see that more Swiss watch brands doing their bit for the planet
@watchreviews4k3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching Paul. Glad you enjoyed it. That is a good point about removing the dial for service. I have used acetone to remove ceramic bezels as it melts the 3M adhesive; without damaging the ceramic. However with a lacquered sapphire dial it would strip the lacquer off. I suppose they would have to just fit new dials during the service. Regards, #WR4K

Is the miyota 8215 used in the PD1661 regulated as the NH35 ? And is it true that the router is noisy in this particular movement?

I'd be willing to pay 2K+ for this if it was 40mm, slightly slimmer (at the expense of some water resistance, who needs 600m really), true gmt (home and hour hand independent adjustment positions) and had a glass back, use a 96 click bezel (for 15 min sub time zone, instead of the generic 120) and you got my dream gmt.

Hi, great review and its on my radar as a possible buy. My only concern is the 14.3mm thickness i think that is quite bulky. Does it wear ok on the wrist, it looks ok in the review but it can be deceiving. Thanks
@watchreviews4k3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching Greg. It feels very balanced on wrist, rather than being top heavy. However it is tall, and therefore more difficult to slip under a shirt cuff. For a 7-8" the proportions are good. For a 6-7" wrist you may find it wear too tall on wrist. Bear in mind I have an 8" wrist when looking at the wrist shots. I can wear a 42mm x 14mm piece and it suits my wrist; but that will be too much wrist presence for a 6-7" which a 40mm x 13mm piece would suit better. Regards, #WR4K

I have a Tissot Seastar, a CW C60 #Tide, and two CW Trident Pro 300's. Unless you need more than 300 meters of water resistance, (and who reall does?) I would recommend one of the Trident Pro 300's , since they are thinner than the CW 600 meter watches, as the best combination of quality and value. I rate the quality as a cut or two above the Seastar, and much more handsome, though the Seastar does have a longer power reserve with the Powermatic 80 movement. To me the Tridents are much more handsome watches, though you might want to handle both of them to really appreciate the difference. The Pro 300's come with a display caseback, as does the Seastar. The Seastar is a diver that looks like a diver. The Pro 300's are divers that are more than equally functional, but much more versatile as everyday watches. Plus you get a choice of colours.....
