I'm trying to show the highlights of doing a front cover n the 6.0 diesel while leaving the intake on and tight. The main thing to watch for is damaging the o-ring and having it positioned right so the gears do not bind up.

My water pump let go on a trip down south 2 weeks ago, I was stuck on the side of the interstate. I looked up Ron's video on how to change the pump, found a local auto parts store, and was back on the road in a few hours. I appreciate all the effort he put into his videos and thank him for helping us all out.

the g rotor should slide in freely without tapping on it. if you cant slide it in loosen the bolts and pry the cover up with a Philips screw driver in other bolt holes until it will slide in freely. you can loosen up the intake without removing the turbo, ficm or filter assembly. then put the oring in with the cover already installed. only takes 5 minutes to loosen the intake

I have 03 6.0 I've had it for three years and the low pressure oil pump has gone out twice any suggestions on why this keeps happening?

Fine.... but how do you actually get the front cover off after everything has been disconnected and all the bolts removed? I thought it might just pop right off with a few taps and a little prying. Mine seems to be on so tight that it didn't budge with what seemed like a reasonable amount of force with a crowbar and an 8lb sledgehammer. I don't want to break or damage it. Can't find any videos on the internet that show it being taken off. ? I see a comment about placing the gasket over the dowels but I don't see any in the video. Because they are apparently back there, I assume that prying it off is better than trying to knock it off. ??

Hey guys bought a 2007 28 passenger school bus almost a year ago it had 43000 original miles on it shortly there after within 600 miles it started hydro locking on me turns out the egr cooler had a breach in it so I did a egr delete on it basically welded a plug on both sides of the egr and called it a day then continued with life as usual it smoked for about 25 miles then no more smoke ran great went on a 100 mile drive spent the night stared it the next morning no problems life was great but then "Cue scary music. I returned on the 100 mile trip as I was pulling in to town it started running at a higher rpm then as i was parking it The motor stared loping as if one side of the motor was dying i turned it off and there gentlemen is where it did a shitty magic trick And turned in to a big yellow yard ornament oh probably dont have to mention it's a vt365 since then at the advice of a diesel mechanic I have replaced the ficm the ipr all of the glow plugs as well as the the oil and all filters including fuel Then found out fuel gauge doesn't work put 20 gallons of fuel in it and still it sits I had another diesel mechanic come look at it and was told it only has 1700 psi oil pressure after the high pressure oil pump so I pulled the high pressure oil pump but cant tell if the quick disconnect coupling is bad after all this mouth breathing I ve done my question is if the quick disconnect coupling has side to side movement is it bad I.m sure a few of you guys are saying you poor bastard let it go buy a Hyundai it's over but if anyone has any other advice I would accept it humbly thanks monti

Thanks for the tips. I got a original 40000km motor that developed a fairly bad leak at the front cover. Is that normal and should I look for anything when I take it apart? Should I apply sealer to the aluminum part of the gasket to prevent future leaks?
@DieselTechRon8 жыл бұрын
oil leaks from the old style front crank seal were kinda common. anything else in my area of the desert is not common. yes a light dab of silicone to help with uneven surfaces, corrosion or where 2 or more joints meet is always a good idea.
@smokeskull8 жыл бұрын
+DieselTechRon thanks for the quick reply should I perhaps just pull the balancer and inspect the front crank seal first?

I have had an oil leak in the front of the engine not sure if it is coming from the front cover or engine head gasket are there oil ports on the front engine cover?
@deletemepleez8 жыл бұрын
+inter caetera inquisition FYI it is not the main seal. It seams to be coming from the top drivers side of the front cover is that possible?

Coby Gonzales have your oil tested by black stone and if you have a excessive aluminum presence in your oil expect a front cover

remove the aftermarket seal ring from the end of the crankshaft. hit a few dents in it to loosen the ring using a flat chisel, then you should be able to pry the ring off and then remove the center oil pump gear.
