Helpful tips to consider when replacing a fan clutch on a Ford 6.0 Powerstroke engine.
Level of difficulty: INTERMEDIATE
Approximate installation time: 2.0 HOURS
Tools needed: fan hub wrench set, 3/8" ratchet, 8mm socket, 10mm socket, 13mm socket, plyers, torque wrench
Additional parts: Serpentine drive belt, belt tensioner, coolant, water pump

How do you know you have a bad fan clutch? And could a coolant temp sensor be a cause of the fan to come on when acceleration with a cold, no load truck?

Many times these will set a DTC in the PCM. Symptoms may be delayed engagement, delayed disengagement, over heating, or fan stuck on. There are many different inputs to the PCM to control this fan clutch including: engine coolant temp, oil temp and, transmission temp. You should monitor these inputs along with the PCM control signal to the fan clutch before condemning the clutch itself.

Wire ripped beacause of the stupid fan then it will overheat in my situation thats how it went

Good info. Mine is over heating from a take off. Cools down when I get rolling. I ordered a clutch.

if the fan clutch is bad on a ford f350 will it throw codes p0707 and p0706. just replaced a new fan clutch and now throwing these codes.

The EV Fan and the Trans Range sensor share the same reference voltage, so a shorted fan can certainly cause these trouble codes to set.
