Thanks for the mention! Appreciate the helpful video and real world example of how get it done. I definitely over think my watering, so it’s awesome to see how someone can get great results with a simple and straight forward process. Where I live in Texas we have had under 2 inches rain for all of 2020 so far. Last year we had probably 10-15 inches in the same time. I think I need to stop chasing perfection and just be happy my lawn as a whole is even surviving this drought. I’m starting to look into soil wetting agents now. The cheapest pro level option I’ve found are tournament ready pellets for about $12 each. Each 6-8 oz pellet (depending on which one you pick) covers 16,000 square foot. You can skip buying the expensive applicator gun and just dissolve the pellet (or cut off bits of it at a time a weigh them) with water and spray through a hose end or a pump sprayer before watering it in a little. This might be something worth looking into.. shipping is expensive through R&R, so I think I paid around $30 to get one to my door. It’s supposed to help water penetrate the soil, move within the soil, and hold inside the soil.

Absolutely man. You're welcome. Thanks again for the suggestion and patience. This was a fun video to make. And don't sweat it, I've over thought lawn care many a times. Especially when I first got started and didn't know what I was doing. It's easy to do. Everything I read and watched online just beat things into me like I HAD to do this and HAD to do that. Of course, a lot of it wasn't financially possible for me, so I started only doing the best that I could. I soon realized that things were working out great, and I wasn't following the "rules" to a T. That's when I started really enjoying it and not worrying so much. I hope I can pass that along to other folks, because there wasn't anyone showing it to me. And WOW! Only 2 inches? That stinks. Sorry man. That definitely has to make it tough to keep a nice lawn, so yeah, you should be super happy to make it through that kind of drought. Sounds like you could definitely benefit from some sort of wetting agent program. Good luck with that. Let me know how it works. Really appreciate ya watching and your support. If you have any other videos you want to see, please don't hesitate to let me know. 👍

Great video. I like the pick your battles approach. You are right about the time it takes to put an inch of water. It helps if you have 3/4 inch hose. That oscillating sprinkler puts out tons of water compared to mine. What brand is it? Also you should hit Walmart at the end of the season, after mid September up here, you can find great bargains for up to 50% off and even more. I got two orbits timers with two zones each for $15 each, all metal impact sprinklers down to $7 from $20. Really budget lawn stuff

I actually did the tuna can test to my lawn this morning. Had the timer set to start at 430am and run each head (4 heads) for 15 min each. Set for 3 cycles 430,530 and 630. Tuna can only had 1/2" in each after a total of 3 hours. Wow, now I realise how much I have been under watering for the past couple years. On the mowing side I'm not playing this year. I mowed front 25 times and back 27 times which started March 29th. Let me see where this takes me this year. Things are looking good so far.

Is there a big differences between watering with 1/2 hose or a 3/4? My tap is 1/2 but I can convert it to 3/4 if that helps?
@BudgetLawns
@BudgetLawns 3 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question. I really don’t know. Never thought about it. I imagine the larger hose may provide slightly more output as more water travels through it. But it sounds like you’ve got to go with what you’re working with so I wouldn’t worry about it. Sorry I don’t have a definitive answer for ya. Appreciate ya watching.

Thank you for the awesome video! I’m first time single house owner, so lots of things to learn. I’m using two melnor oscillating sprinklers(cover 4500sf), but mine covers so little. My yard is about 9000sf, but it takes forever to water all four side of yard. Also I’m using two 50ft 5/8 hoses, but they are leaking. Maybe that’s the reason? Need your advice!
@BudgetLawns
@BudgetLawns 3 ай бұрын
You're welcome. Congrats on becoming a homeowner. Leaking hoses can definitely cause lower pressure resulting in less output. Running two at once can also cause less coverage from each sprinkler. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
