Waterproofing Leather - What Works for Me

This is what I do to condition and waterproof the leather items I have. I'm a little late in getting this video edited and posted, I recorded it back in June....LOL. That's why everything is so green.

Great video Ray; some useful pointers there that I’d never really thought about ; especially the point about looking for lighter spots on the leather and reworking the oil into the boots again. Reminded me I need to redo my boots again; I use a mixture of Bees Wax and something called Neats Foot Oil which we use on the horse saddlery. Gonna order some mink oil and give it a go. Interesting to hear about your parents and the advice they’d passed down; based on their life experiences. Thanks once again; really enjoyed the video. ATB Mark.

Thanks Mark 👍 I should have another go at my boots also 🤪 I know of Neatsfoot Oil, and if I can make a suggestion to you Mark...read up on 'Leather Oils'....it might give you a better knowledge base 👍 You might be surprised by what you find out 😉 I wished I had talked to my parents more before they had passed, I missed out on a huge learning opportunity, the things they saw and experienced 😔 I'm glad you enjoyed this, I hope to have some others out soon 👍 Take Care my friend 😉

I did a search and was amazed that Mink Oil is available for purchase here in NZ. It ranges in price from $16.95 to $40.99. I had been using Dubbin, and didn't realise there was an alternative. Thanks for the heads up!

Sure Can't Beat Mink Oil, I Remember Way On Back When I Was 4 Helping Father Oil Up His High Top Leather Hunting Boots, That Was 61 Years Ago, I Swear By It.
