BOAT CRASHES INTO THE ROCKS AT HAULOVER INLET!! | Boats vs Haulover Inlet
Boat has engine failure and ends up crashing into the rocks at Haulover Inlet north Jetty. Not sure why they didn't anchor before reaching the rocks. Dangerous situation at Haulover.

Its like a unwritten rule if you go out on the weekend expect BS but the week day i feel are when you see the people who actually belong on the water.its quiet and little traffic The worst are the 20 something year old little cuban pricks with the jetskis that get in your way or they ride by and spray random people on boats for no apparent reason

I WAS IN THE COAST GUARD, WE DIDN’T ASK FOR THEIR PEDIGREE JUST RUSH TO THE RESCUE. Those boaters passing by are a disgrace to boating, rule of the sea, when a fellow seafarer is in distress you go to assist no matter what. It could be you, and by the way why no PFD’S. When I sailed with my father we assisted several vessels in distress and towed them to port, didn’t have the plethora of police and tow boats, just do it.

Did the Coast Guard want the HIN number of the boat and the blood type of the passengers before doing anything? A boat is disabled and smashing against the rocks - yes you should assist the boat. Years ago, I saved a guy a couple miles offshore who flipped a kayak while fishing. He was telling the coast guard that he was couple of miles offshore straight out of the port and the water depth via his cell. The coast guard was looking up by the beach. Long story short- I bought a inflatable survival raft and an EPIRB and PLB after that situation as good luck having anyone find you in open water unless you can give them exact coordinates.

Not to mention the larger yachts are extraordinarily difficult to maneuver in high currents with the type of precision required here. Hell, even something as simple as draft could make it untenable so close to the rocks. They may cut through it with grace at high speed, but at such low speeds a high performance craft turns into a bathtub

@@pohlec89 Correct. I took my boat (63' motoryacht w/ 5' draft) through Haulover twice last weekend. Had I seen that was happening, there would be little I could do other than relay a distress call on VHF. The current through that inlet can be very strong and create 5' standing waves. If you are not certain you can assist without putting yourself in harms way, it's best to not make the attempt.

Love to see boaters helping other boaters!!! Great job carrying a radio and calling it in, that could’ve been much worse because that inlet gets much worse....

Nice work doing the best you could from shore. The guys on the Trophy deserve a trophy - it looks like they got the disabled boat away from the rocks before severe damage. I'm sure lots of people wanted to help but cruised on by because they didn't know how far out those rocks extended.

Good for the Trophy owner/operator. 👍 I thought he would come back and help when he first passed by and looked over.

under most of the boats there is this like small hole that looks like it has a fan inside the hole and a place for water to go into the hole..... what is this for? is it like water for the engines? or is it for the speed to tell you how fast you are going? you can see from right here 6:30 looking at the front of the bottom that is barley coming out of the water.... what is that hole with the fan looking thing? i am assuming its something for the speedometer like i said but figured i would ask i have been on boats before but never owned one or had to deal with one so just curious :) thanks

Says you. I got an email notification including your reply to my comment made a while ago and couldn't be bothered searching for it so I'll reply on this comment instead. Just to be clear, I don't own a 300k boat but I do own one worth about half that and wouldn't hesitate to go to someone's assistance and not leave the rescue to the professionals as you suggest. You then, for some reason, go on to comment that I'm not brave? How on earth would you know? I can only guess that I triggered some of your inadequacies and for that I am sorry. Maybe go and have a lie down, you'll feel better soon, better still go sign up to volunteer for a rescue service and show us all how brave you really are, you peanut. PS: Some words have been edited because KZbin wouldn't let me use the words I wanted to describe you.

Any time I've had problems and gave the universal signal (arms outstretched to the sides and moving them up and down) boats have come a running to assist. They didn't have life jackets on and I didn't see them requesting help.
